For some odd reason, these 2.0 hubs are WAY better than the Insignia 4-port USB "3.0". My computer has the 3.0 USB built-in inside my computer but seems everytime I turn on my computer several of the 3.0 hubs are not recognized unless I unplug and plug back in again. And yes, my computer is current on everything as far as updates and firmware, etc. Will be buying these 2.0's from now on. Even though they're 2.0, they're still just as fast as the 3.0's. And 7-ports for the 2.0's instead of 4 from the 3.0's. My other computer would have the same issues with the 3.0's. It's either me, or the 3.0's aren't perfected yet....don't know? I just avoid the "blue" ports from now on altogether. Pardon the confusion.

I got home with this device and immediately set it to work. USB 2.0 throughput to a jumpdrive worked without having to use the included power adapter even with 4 other devices already connected. I have it as a hub to an onboard 2.0 port so everything up to the hub is 2.0 ready. And it just works. No issues. No non-sense. When using multiple drives of mixed types (jumpdrives, usb-sdd, usb-dvd and usb-ext hd) getting the power supply plugged in gets the motors spinning up and makes things quicker moving around smaller packs of data (no bigger than 2.5 gb per operation). This lets me build up boot and install disks quickly in the background while i have my 3.0 ports moving ten times as much data. It plays nice with wireless devices as well (802.11bgn, wireless kb and mouse, gamepads). A quick solution to your limited port count. Works without extra power in most cases which is good news for laptop users. Pure 2.0 speed. Works fine with 3.0 devices but is ofc slower than a genuine 3.0 hub.

Use 2 of these in conjunction with 1 point of sale laptops. Laptops only have 1 2.0 USB port and 2 3.0 USB ports. Have 5 devices to connect, receipt printer, barcode scanner, card reader, USB NIC (laptops didn't have a NIC port) and a mouse to each. Actually love this setup, all I have to do to pull the systems at the end of the day is disconnect the USB hub and power and I'm done, verses unplugging several items. Also helps when plugging things back in, as everything is left plugged into the hub, that way the laptop recognizes them the same way when the hub is reconnected to the laptop the next day. Has worked excellent so far. Also had no issues with a Linksys USB3GIG USB network adapter through the 2.0 port, even though it's a 3.0 device. Very satisfied!

I bought 2 of these and they have been the best ever. Computers just simply do not have enough ports on them for all the things you need. And with my use of external items like HDDs this little item works magic. Small and compact but carries a punch! I have had no issues with having multiple items plugged into it at the same time while running.

I purchased this port extension because I needed extra USB ports for an older laptop. It works very well for adding additional devices to the laptop and I am able to charge other devices while it is connected.

I found this USB hub to be easy to use and functional. It has a reasonable price and doesn’t eat up a lot of space. While I wish it had 3.0 tech built-in the 2.0 technology is sufficient for the devices I needed the hub for. Overall I’m happy with the product.

Great powered hub for all those devices that demand USB. I’m filling all ports, and it works excellently. Powered hub is the way to go for many peripherals, and this has it covered.

Fits perfectly behind my computer. Has enough USB ports for all of my electronics (computer, DVD drive, Earbuds, printer, etc. Have not had a problem with it since I got it.

great for USB2.0 Devices I still use (memory sticks, webcams, older cell phones. portable hard drives.) I have used all 7 ports at once without any issue. The power supply that comes with this has enough wattage to be able to power multiple hard drives. most hubs ive had are poorly made and fail not long after purchase simply because you cant replace the main cable going to the pc or it being a poorly made product in general. this product is reliable the only change for me would be to be able to individually switch each usb port on or off

The Hub worked wonders for me. My 2015 MacBook Pro would disconnect and reconnect when my iPhone Xs was nearly discharged. The Genius Bar couldn't find any problems, because they don't do an end to end check or measure the current drawn. The specs for the MacBook say the ports can supply 500 milliamps but make special reference to providing more power to an iPhone. I measured the drain with the iPhone and it was 1000 milliamps. The intrnal protection on the MacBoo Pro was shutting off the port. This prvented me from being able to backup my iPhone to the MacBook Pro. I bought this because the Hub has it's own power.

I've added so many gadgets over time that needed a home to connect to so they can function properly. My old PC had a limited number of USB ports - this allows me to plug in plenty of additional devices - no problems at all - everything is working flawlessly. Very pleased with my purchase.

I bought this usb hub to so I’d have more USB ports for my MacBook Pro. I am a music producer, so it allows me to bring more equipment for my mobile set up. I love how works without the power supply. Just plug it direct into your USB port of your computer and it works. Good quality and look too, only thing I wish is that it was just a little heavier so as to make it stay in place better when you have a lot of connections to it.
It's easy to instal everything's work perfect and fast, and for the price it's really good

I purchased this unit 2 months ago to add more ports to my laptop/music recording system. This powered hub is durable, and gave me no configuration problems in Windows 10. In the past, Windows 10 has failed to recognize peripherals plugged into an external USB port -accessories plugged into this unit were properly recognized immediately. This is a quality computer accessory. I recommend it highly.

I was struggling with USB errors using a hub that was years old. After updating drivers and nursing the device along, I decided it may be time for a new hub. The Insignia 7 port hub hit the spot and performed exceptionally. it was inexpensive and provide more ports than my previous model. Simple, fast and reliable

I was pleased when I attached the Insignia 7 port USB2.0 hub to my PowerBook. The computer only came with two USB 3.0 ports. The usual 4-port devices actually only add three usable ports. This one added 6. That means that I can use my remote keyboard, mouse, external hard drive, printer and still have ports left over for iPhone and iPod synchs.

This is a great addition when your laptop only has a few USB ports. The only thing that would make it better is if it weighed a bit more. Anytime you pull on any of the cords plugged into it, it moves and sometimes falls to the floor. I ended up putting some tape on the bottom of it and that has helped. Other than that, it is great!!!

If you have multiple devices that need a USB supply then this works as well as you desire. Cleared the necessity of a power strip on my desk or nightstand as I am able to supply power to phone, 2 tablets, and watch with only occupying a very small space.

Love the Insignia™ - 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub - Black.....I had run out of plugs in my smaller port so it was tough to find a 7 port hub, but finally did at Best Buy, and it was the only one they had. It's nice to have one hub that I can charge everything with instead of multiple smaller ones all over the place. The only slight complaint about how this one is made is that the cord from it that plugs into the wall socket is on the back so can't push it up next to the wall, the cord would have been better place on either the left or right side in my opinion. But definitely recommend.
