Perhaps you’ve lost your Samsung remote. Perhaps you’ve misplaced it. Or maybe, like me, you hate the remote that came with your Samsung TV. If any of those applies to you, this Insignia replacement remote might be just what you’re looking for. I have a Samsung QN85QN90C TV. I love pretty much everything about it except the tiny, easily lost, and cantankerous remote. The only feature it provides uniquely that this replacement doesn’t is voice, which I don’t use and am not interested in. The Insignia remote, for me, did not require any setup apart from installation of the batteries. There are learning modes and a code list, but I didn’t need them. Upon installing the batteries, my QN90C responded perfectly. There are also included codes for the control of a connected soundbar or receiver, but using the volume control on the remote automatically adjusted the volume of the receiver. I assume this is a CEC-control measure over HDMI, so with luck you may find no additional setup necessary, either. The remote is large, but for me, this is a plus. The tiny remote included with the TV easily falls between couch cushions or gets lost under blankets. But for that size, you do get large, easy to read buttons. Across the top you get power, TV, sleep, and a direct input change button, something the standard remote lacked. Underneath that is a full panoply of buttons, starting with a full number pad, whereas the included remote uses them virtually on the screen. The direction pad is of a more conventional design here than Samsung’s, and I think it’s perhaps a little easier to use. It reminds me very much of Sony’s large candy bar style-remotes. While there is a dedicated button for Samsung TV Plus, there are three prominent buttons, labeled A, B, and C, that serve as streaming shortcuts. They default to Netflix, Disney, and Amazon Prime Video, but unlike the standard remote, you can change these to whatever your preferred streaming services are. This ability to configure is a nice upgrade. The other thing I like are the dedicated buttons to go directly to things like settings or the picture modes. I adjust these frequently depending on the content type. Finally at the bottom are standard media controls like play/pause or fast forward/rewind. Obviously, if you need a remote because you broke or lost yours, this is a good choice. But it’s not a bad idea at all if you really don’t like the included one. Since it’s the major way you interact with your TV, it’s not a major cost to upgrade that experience. So if you fall into any of those camps, check this remote out. I’ve very much enjoyed letting it take over the TV control duties.

So my teen daughter is a simple girl and we got her an open box Samsung tv for her room. She mainly plays her Nintendo Switch and we would always complain about how bad the original Samsung remote is(laggy). I think the tv is a few years old or is a base model tv. So we decided to try this Bestbuy branded universal remote and man are we happy. You no longer need to pair or find the code to match the tv, it works out of the box which we appreciate greatly. It’s bigger than the original but is nice, lightweight, and fits nicely in the hand. Every button pretty much works perfectly. Even the preprogrammed (Netflix&prime) buttons work. The setting button is better than the original and the buttons are clicky and very responsive. She even has a Samsung soundbar and you can control the soundbar with the remote and it has dedicated buttons for that as well.it is not backlit but it’s an affordable option so i completely get it, but would have been nice lol. Also the batteries are included which makes buying one of these a no brainer wether you lost your old one or you want a faster and better remote than the cheap original old Samsung remotes. Works great and is a reasonable price. Highly recommend. See pics!

Wow! I’m suitably impressed. This Insignia brand replacement remote controller for Samsung TVs is quite simply great. Insignia is Best Buy’s brand and every one of their products I’ve chosen to buy instead of a more expensive name brand’s has proven to perform adequately, or even better than I’d have expected. Such was the case here. I was able to use this remote right out of the box. No hassle pairing. Just was able to immediately control my Samsung TV with it. As a matter of fact, this remote seems to be much more responsive than the controller that came with my TV. Occasionally that original remote behaves sluggishly or disconnects, and I’ve had to reset it a few times. Which is why I’m glad to have this Insignia replacement remote control as a backup. I might even just start using it as my primary controller. It’s actually more comfortable to hold onto, sleeker in design, and has well-organized buttons. This TV remote comes with 2 AAA batteries, and accessing the battery compartment was easy, unlike some remotes I’ve used. The included printed Quick Setup Guide is very detailed, and explains the button functions thoroughly. There are three handy app shortcut buttons, A B C - preset for Netflix, Disney+, and Prime Video. Since I do have a Samsung soundbar, I was able to effortlessly setup the replacement remote to control the volume levels via the Insignia remote. The “learned function” feature held little interest for me, so I didn’t bother with it. However, I can see how this would be useful for some people. Overall, I can wholeheartedly recommend this Insignia Replacement Remote for Samsung TVs. And while this remote is designed to be a replacement controller, should you have need of one, it can serve as a new (better, imo) remote if you simply prefer to use it instead of the dedicated controller your TV comes with.

I am not a fan of the tiny remotes these days. I have a mixture of Sony and Samsung TVs around the house. Sony remotes are still full size (and a couple of my Sony TVs came with secondary small remotes) but all of my Samsung TVs come with really small Roku/Apple TV sized remotes. I do love the solar feature but remote batteries only get changed 2-3 times a year anyway. So I bought a few cheap Samsung remote replacements online but they were only marginally bigger and they didn’t seem to have enough IR power to the point I felt like I had to aim the remotes directly at the middle of the TV. This Insignia replacement fits the bill. It is IR only, but it has a much better blaster than the other remotes I bought so I don’t have to aim it as perfectly toward the TV. The ABC buttons are Netflix/Hulu/Prime shortcuts. All of the buttons do what they’re supposed to do, as labeled, and everything feels responsive. S mode does sound, P mode does picture, and so on. There’s nothing to complain about. The only thing I found odd was that it came with some no-name brand batteries. I have Insignia batteries so kinda strange they didn’t send those but not an issue. There was also a code programming paper that came with it but I don’t use it for anything but the TV so I can’t really comment on that. If you want a full-sized remote for your Samsung TV with zero fuss, this is the one.

I’ve used several Insignia products over the years, including phone cases, cables, and other accessories. I continue to be impressed with the quality of their products and their ability to provide something that feels and works just as good as the real thing. I bought a Samsung TV about two months ago, and unfortunately, it only came with one of those newer mini remotes instead of a traditional controller. I’ve gotten used to the mini remote, but whenever my parents visit, they are completely at a loss trying to figure out how to use it. Sometimes you just want a traditional remote with all the buttons exactly where you expect them to be, and personally that’s exactly why I love this Insignia remote. It feels like a traditional Samsung remote, has all the buttons you need, and now I can just keep it around for family and guests without having to explain how to use the mini remote every time. Setup was super easy. It took me less than a minute to get everything up and running. I put in the batteries (yes comes with batteries so check the box!), followed the setup instructions, and it was ready to go. Overall, this is another Insignia product that just works for what you need it. It works great with my Samsung TV, was incredibly easy to set up. Simple product, but it does exactly what I needed it to do. 5/5 for me!

The Insignia Replacement Remote Control for Samsung TV's nicely replaces my original Samsung branded remote at about half the cost. The Insignia remote has essentially the same button options, but has a lighted power button that lights when any button is pressed. The buttons have a slightly audible click when pressed which the original does not. The buttons on the original are mushy in comparison and aren't particularly sturdy as several buttons on my original remote (which is approximately a year old) are nearly worn out. I don't know why Samsung remotes are so expensive because the Insignia is actually the 3rd remote that I have purchased for my tv. The first two we not of the highest quality. This Insignia remote seems sturdy and well built, and hopefully it's long term reliability will be good. The buttons on the Insignia are not backlighted, but my others are not either. The Insignia remote worked perfectly right out of the box on my Samsung TV. I did reprogram one of the shortcut buttons since I don't have Disney +, but it was easy to do following the included instructions. In short, if you need a new remote for your Samsung my advice is to get the Insignia and save some money.

I've been looking for a remote to replace the one that came with my Samsung TV (a Frame model) - while the original remote still works, it's well-loved at this point and doesn't always trigger the command that you think you're going to get. I saw this Insignia and the price seemed right so I figured I'd give it a chance - and I'm really glad that I did! Setup couldn't have been any easier - all I had to do was open the box, unwrap the remote, install the two (included) AAA batteries and...that's it. I pointed the remote at the TV (it is an IR remote after all, so it's directional - it does NOT support the RF functionality that the original remote does, but I knew that going in) and pressed power and it worked. Along with all the other key functions. And that's really all there is to it. The remote supports all the major TV functions and the Samsung specific functionality as well. The keys are clearly labeled and easy to read (in the light - there's no backlighting here, which is fine). And the remote seems to be nicely constructed with reasonably durable plastics so it should prove to last just fine. So if you could use an EASY replacement remote for your Frame TV (or other compatible Samsung TV), this is a great option to check out at a great value price. Give it a try today.

This is your basic remote which works well with our Samsung tv. The setup of it is easy and the instructions are simple to follow. The buttons feel great and the button presses of the remote work better than the one we previously had. It’s lightweight and easy to use and navigate your TV settings with. The B button by default opens up Disney+ and it wouldn’t open. I programmed it to open with that app and got it working. This isn’t a big deal to me but I wanted to mention it in my review in case you were wondering. A opens Netflix and C opens Amazon Prime. You can reprogram these to other apps if you want. A and C opened in their apps without issues. We were able to pair this with a Bose Soundbar with no issues. The only thing I wish it could do is just power off the soundbar itself. If you have your tv and soundbar on at the same time, you can hold down the power button to turn both off, but that’s it. The only negative I will say is that since I’ve had the remote, the TV volume would just stop working sporadically. After doing a factory reset, the volume works again. I’d rather deal with this than have a remote that just stops functioning. Even with its flaws, I still recommend this if you want something basic. You may not have the sporadic issues with the TV volume not working that I did. Any remote that works is still better than one that no longer does!
