I’ve used a few action cameras before, but the Insta360 really stands out in a way that actually changes how I capture content day to day. The biggest thing for me is how effortless it makes getting professional-looking footage without needing a full camera setup or editing skills. The stabilization is honestly insane — even when I’m walking, driving, or moving through tight spaces, the footage stays smooth like it was shot on a gimbal. The 360 capture is another level because I don’t have to worry about framing in the moment. I can just record and choose the best angle later, which saves a ton of time and stress when I’m trying to get the perfect shot. Battery life and quick editing through the app make it super practical for real-world use, not just “tech demo” stuff. It’s become something I actually take with me instead of leaving at home. Overall, it feels like a tool built for creators who just want to focus on capturing moments instead of worrying about gear.

The Insta360 GO Ultra is incredibly compact but delivers impressive video quality for its size. It’s perfect for hands-free, on-the-go recording, and the stabilization keeps footage smooth even during movement. Easy to use, lightweight, and versatile—great for capturing moments without carrying bulky gear.

As a vlogger with about 250,000 followers across YouTube, Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram, I’m always on the lookout for gear that fits my daily content creation workflow. The Insta360 GO Ultra immediately caught my eye because it’s not just another iteration of the GO 3S. It’s a completely fresh, new innovation. Gone is the pill-shaped body, replaced by a larger, square form that’s more like a hybrid between the GO series and an Action Cam. -Design, Build, and Unboxing- First off, the design of the box itself is very creative. It’s not just standard packaging. They put some real thought into it, and it kind of gets you excited about unboxing and seeing what the camera can do. Once you open it up, you’ll notice right away how different it feels from the GO 3S. The packaging is premium, and inside you’ve got the GO Ultra camera, the action pod it sits in, a magnetic pendant for POV shots (which you can wear under your shirt and snap the camera onto), and a magnetic clip for attaching to hats or other surfaces. Now, it's a bit bigger than the old model, so it’s not going to be super subtle if you wear it on a hat, but it’s still totally doable for POV shots. You also get a quick-release cord, a lens guard, and a USB-C cable for charging. The build quality feels really solid. -Performance- For vlogging the 2.5" flip/touchscreen is great for framing videos and photos. It's also great for selfies and to view the camera when you've mounted it somewhere else. The screen is bright and the touchscreen is very responsive. The battery life is great with the added help of the action pod. The ability to fast charge so quickly is an added plus for vloggers. Personally, I haven't had any The large sensor has really improved low light performance. It's a big improvement but still one step below my pocket 3. Pureview kicks in automatically when it senses lowlight. Transferring my videos and photos to the Insta360 app is extremely quick and easy. You can also add Dolby Vision (I do this on most of our videos) but it will decrease resolution to 1080p 30fps. I took the camera out for a run around the park to see how it handled in-body stabilization and it was impressive without any post processing. FreeFrame is genius. It will show you a grid of the different aspect ratios but you will need to be careful to keep your subject in frame, or pay attention to the grid so that you can use more than one aspect ratio. I use Dewarp field of view for my videos; it cuts down on the rounded edges you often get on action cams. FreeFrame - This is one of my favorite features. What's nice about FreeFrame video is you can decide the aspect ratio after you film your video. This is great for content creators because you might need a 16:9 wide for YouTube, but you can also export a 9:16 for TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook Reels. You can even export a 1:1 for an Instagram post without losing any quality. You will see lines (when framing your shot) that indicate the border of each aspect ration while filming so it gives you a good idea of what you need to keep in frame. In terms of overheating, a lot of action cameras do heat up. We accidentally left the Insta360 Go Ultra running for 82 minutes, and it got pretty warm, but it never actually overheated or shut down. You will feel some heat from the unit, but it’s not something that caused any performance issues for us. PureView mode is a dedicated shooting mode that kicks in automatically in low light. I think this is a huge plus because the camera adjusts to improve brightness and reduce noise on its own. The Go 3S struggled a bit in low light, but this one's noticeably better. I'll be real though, I've got a Pocket 3 that's still noticeably better in low light, but these are 2 different cameras. I'm stating this though because even though the Insta360 ultra is more versatile, my pocket 3 is the go-to in low light for me. The Insta360 Ultra is more of a hybrid between an action cam and a regular camera, so it's not the absolute best in either category, but it gives you the best of both worlds and more options when creating videos. The app works fantastic. You have countless tools and I had no issues exporting or editing. The only complaint I have is the watermark that shows up on photos and videos by default (it can also be turned off in settings.) Shooting in RAW photo mode was kind of a revelation for me. I usually just shoot JPEGs, but the RAW shots are incredible. I took a photo of a hibiscus tree in my yard and the colors and brightness were outstanding. Pros: 1. Great Low-Light Performance 2. Exceptional Battery Life 3. Flip Screen 4. Free-Frame 5. High-Res Video 6. Intuitive, Efficient App 7. RAW Photo Capability 8. Excellent Stabilization Cons: 1. A Bit Heavy: Less Discreet 2. Jack-of-All-Trades: Not the top performer in any single category. 3. New Ecosystem: Older accessories aren’t compatible. 4. Price 5. Mono Audio

I previously had the Go 3S and swapped to the Ultra when it was released. It is definitely larger and more noticeable than the Go 3S, but I was okay with that since it makes up for several things the 3S was lacking. Low-light performance is a big improvement, and I’m really enjoying being able to film in 4K 60FPS with far less motion blur. The camera does warm up when shooting in 4K, but not excessively, and I haven’t experienced any overheating so far. The main frustration is with what comes in the box. The Go 3S included a pivot stand, but the Ultra does not. Without it, I can’t stick the camera to most surfaces or attach it to my tripod unless I purchase the stand separately. For now, I’m limited to using the pendant or easy clip, which don’t work for a lot of shots I need.

Love this little camera!!! The way it separates and you can wear the pendant under your shirt and the camera connects to it and stays connected to it. The quality of the pictures is fantastic!!! When the camera separates from the base you can take it underwater. I would highly recommend this camera.

This is the best POV camera! I have no regrets buying this. The only issue I have is the overheating. You have to adjust some settings to help with that. Other than that it’s a great camera!

I’ve had many different action cameras, but I have just fallen in love with this product. It seems to have the perfect amount of video quality and stabilization in such a small form factor when you detach the camera from the action pod. I would highly recommend this camera. It has a very high fun factor because of the way you can place the camera in unique positions for more creative angles.

I absolutely love this little action camera. You can use it in so many different scenarios. It’s crazy. The image quality is immaculate and the low light capabilities are quite insane. You can put this little camera almost anywhere and achieve unachievable shots with ease. I love it and would definitely recommend it. I had an Insta360 go two and love that camera, but had quite a few knit pics with it. I waited several years for Insta360 to release a camera like this and then I splurged and got it and love it.

Capturing life in 4k with this tiny camera is easy. The new mounting system is stronger than the go 3, but the camera is also heavier so its needs the extra build quality. Software keeps getting better, wish that the camera came with more mounting options - I would spring for a bundle of mounts rather than just buy the camera.

I love this camera especially that it is magnetic. The actual camera is about the size of my airpods (even smaller!) which makes it so discreet. Although the action pod’s battery drains a little faster than I’d expect—the camera itself doesn’t.

Insta360 knocked it out of the ball park with this one. Some people are complaining that the bigger size of the camera itself misses the small form factor of the Go series. I have to disagree on that, the fact that you can choose what recording format (landscape vs portrait) by simply turning the camera on your mounting device is beyond intuitive. The improved low light quality is such a welcome upgrade coming from an Insta360 Go 2. Here's why its 4/5 in my book, the price. I'm at the point where I've come to accept that electronics are going up in price however that doesn't change the sticker shock I get every time when new tech is released. Ultimately, get it if you're in the market for a compact action cam. The hat mount is awesome, I love that I can flip it up and down out of view when needed. I'll toss the camera onto its body to charge up without having to remove the eyesore of a hat camera mount that was in the previous insta360 Go cameras. Update your firmware right away, Auto Pure Vid is a great addition.

I got this as a gift for my man since he does a lot of car content & he is OBSESSED & uses it all of the time now! The video is super clear, & he said everything is super easy on it to use. the ONLY thing we think could make this product better is if we could buy an extra battery for it since he uses it for POV drives in his Durango the battery dies a little faster than we’d like (which is still okay bc he can charge it in between!). I would for sure recommend this camera for content creators that would like to do POV’s!!

This is my second unit, first ordered from insta 360 as they had a better sale during the holidays and it would over heat, so had to send it back. Second unit ordered from Best Buy and it worked as expected. Great unit if you are looking for quick videos or blogging or trying to get that cool perspective in really tight places. I had higher expectations for run time outside of the action pod, 4K30 you can expect a max of 30-32 minutes before battery gives out. Shooting shorter clips and returning to action pod to charge in between is you best bet for longer shooting times or a battery bank made for stand alone camera, which for many would defeat the purpose, unless wearing. Mostly happy with the just lowered expectations for the product after using to see where it fits in to what I’m doing. Still a little pricey compared to others, Has exceptional quality footage, for that alone I would recommend and the size of the device to capture and be discreet not to wave around in front of people faces and be hands free.

Best action camera I’ve ever used. Last so long on my trips and outings and with the small size and mounting options available I can put it anywhere and have so many unique angles. I’ve only had one instance of it over heating, and that’s because I was in the sun and it was recording for a LONG time.

I really love this as it was super compact and easy to use. The only down side on this is the battery, i hike for an hour and half while using the video for action pod. And already die for me. But it’s easy to carry. The magnets is so strong.
