Received SW and box appear to have been opened and taped back with Scott tape. Decided to go ahead and install it but could not activate it using the activation code on the package. Returning package.

i've never taken the time to figure out all the recommended maintenance for my computer. System Mechanic makes it easy, and improves computer speed. I'm happy with the product - ginvnig it 4, not 5, just because I have nothing to compare it to. This is my 3rd upgrade for this software. I keep buying it based on reviews.

I was told by a sales rep that this was a great product with no reoccurring costs. There is an annual fee which I was upset thinking there wasn't. Now, the product. I had some issues upgrading to a newer version that was on the CD. VIA their support, I had to download a 3rd party software to uninstall it. It does a lot of things you believe would be helpful to your computer and for the most part it seems faster but I am having a few issues. Some of the start-up programs you can disable gave me issues with Microsoft Office Starter not functioning anymore. After trying to reactivate the programs, I am still having an issue at time when an Office product starts, it thinks I am new or the program needs repaired. Every week or so it tells me the registry is 9% fragmented. That is really hard to believe since I am not installing any software but the registry is a strange thing! The other things is sleep mode. This thing works quite a bit and wakes the PC up. I guess that is a good thing since I don't want it scanning while I am working. Just odd to see my monitor on at times when it is not supposed to be. I will probably renew but I will have to wait and see.

My old lap top was really going down hill over the years with the blue death screen and not booting up along with freezing up and sluggish. I tried everything in the computer for maintenance etc and it was just not working to fix any of the problems. I was really getting concerned because more and more it would not turn on with out many hard shut downs so I was going to get a new lap top but I thought let's just look and see if there is anything I could try for a fraction of a new lap top and I found this product and I used it, I spent a lot of time using all the tools in the software and sure enough I noticed a big difference. The machine was about 90% better which was a relief because it was usable now, it's been so good for the most part now that I don't have to buy a new lap top just yet unless I just want to but not need to.

easy to install and got right to work removing old files and broken links in the registry. Quickly scanned and cleared garbage files. Initial price is reasonable. Not sure what they'll charge for yearly fee though.
