The JBL Soundgear Clips are a product I genuinely wanted to love. On paper, they check a lot of boxes: lightweight design, great color options, and a clever clip‑on concept that promises comfort without the typical in‑ear rubber tips I usually dislike. In practice, though, my experience ended up being a mix of positives and frustrations. The design is one of the strongest aspects. They look modern, clean, and feel extremely lightweight — so much so that when worn in the standard position, I often forget I have them on. The clip mechanism is quick and easy, making them convenient for everyday activities. Build quality is solid, and the materials feel premium. However, the open‑ear concept didn’t work as well for me as I hoped. To get the speakers closer to my ear canal, I had to reposition them so they clipped onto my earlobe, and that made me look a bit goofy. It’s not a deal‑breaker for everyone, but it’s something to keep in mind. Sound is surprisingly good for an open‑ear design. They deliver a pleasant listening experience with clear mids and highs, and I actually enjoy the Special effects you can plat them thru JBL headphones app, they sound real and are very relaxing. Case 1) I tried using them at the gym where there are some tv's playing people making moving noises in the background, not a lot but enough to annoy me. In order to make my content usable to my ear i have to turn it way up and then it's still mingling with eachother. Case 2) I said ok let me slide them in my motorcycle helmet and see how that goes but i can't make them stay. So in the end i'm not sure what i would use them for. As much as i like how they look and would want to wear them, they don't work in the environments where i'd actually want them the most.

I am new to this style of earbud. I recently saw a "cheapo" pair with this same design and decided to buy them to try it out. My ears are very sensitive, both to anything pressing on them, and to overly loud sounds. I only wear headphones or earbuds when I have to and always default to a speaker when that is an option. I prefer earbuds to headphones because headphones are heavy and press on my ears. However, there are two things I don't like about earbuds: - They cause my ear to begin hurting within 20-30 minutes of wear, and some are worse. Airpods ironically cause my ears to hurt within about 10 minutes. - When wearing both, they close off my ears completely, meaning I feel as though when I speak, I talking into a vacuum. I can't tell how loud I am speaking, and it's muffled. I also don't like to not be able to hear what's around me. It's ok for ambient noise to be drowned out a bit, but not completely. This style of earbud caught my eye because they don't go inside your ear canal, but sit right outside of it so the sound output is directed into your ear, but it does not close it off. I was excited for this pair of JBL Open-Ear earbuds because JBL is a good brand for sound quality. I definitely wasn't disappointed. The sound quality with these is excellent. The sound is clear, with even the default settings providing a good bass and treble sound. They paired easily with my phone, and there is a JBL app to accompany them. It is not required, but it does allow to fine tune some of the sound settings and gives you quick access to understand the gestures available. Unfortunately the gestures are not customizable, but the app gives you a quick way to remind yourself what they are without needing a manual. Gestures are controlled from the knob that will go behind your ear. The smaller round part is what sits just outside of your ear canal and is the speaker. The app provides some nice extra features as well: - voice prompts (can be turned on or off and available in 11 languates) - an equalizer (studio, club, bass, extreme bass, vocal, jazz, and a customization option) - left/right sound balance - max volume limiter - a relax mode (ambient sound effects such as ocean waves, night time, campfire, etc) - "Find My Buds" in case you misplace them - Auto Power off (30 minutes, 1 hour, or 2 hours) - A "power button" in the top right corner of the app screen to turn them off without placing them back in the case Of course, there are a few things I didn't like about them. The bronze color is far from my favorite, but the clear plastic does make it look a little nicer. The stem that connects the two parts if very flexible, but not design to hold the position you place it in. It is curved so that the round speaker and back knob very softly grip your outer ear to hold them in place. This works VERY well (they don't move regardless of how I move my head), but if it's too tight or too loose, this could be uncomfortable or ineffective. Granted, all earbuds have this issue - we all have different ears, so one-size never fits all. For me, they were just slightly tight, but I was able to wear these for 3 hours consistently with minimal discomfort, and as someone who struggles with regular earbuds, this was amazing! I found the packaging method a bit odd. The package is designed for retail display and shows the actual earbuds in a plastic enclosure with an opening in the box to see them. Looks nice, but it also means the earbuds are not likely going to be charged very much when you open the package. Mine were around 30-35% and the case was at 40%. This was enough for me to place them in the case for a few minutes to get them charged enough to begin testing. As soon as I installed the JBL app, I was informed that the buds had a firmware update and they needed to be above 50% to apply it. The firmware update took about 5-6 minutes. These earbuds do take some getting used to. The motions necessary to put these on are very different than you are probably accustomed to. Removing the from your ear is easy, but it will take a few tries to figure out how to get them positioned correctly, all the while constantly tapping unintentionally on the back knob and triggering gestures. Until you get used to them, start your music or phone call AFTER you put them in! Overall, unless I am absolutely in need of drowning out all background noise, this is now my new favorite style of earbuds, and this pair is a good option for features and sound quality. I do think they are a bit expensive for what they are, and maybe this is because it's a new style, but I would look for them on a sale. If you have difficulty with in-ear earbuds, definitely try these!

One of the most annoying thing with an earbud is not being able to hear and the second is when the caller cannot hear you. I have had these for a month and no issues. No frying noise, no disconnects. Good quality sound. Battery life is great. The only short fall and it is not a factor is there is no call announce and no verbal way to answer or reject a call. Otherwise these are winners!

Overall: I’m really enjoying the fit and sound quality of the JBL SoundGear Clips. They’re comfortable for extended wear, sound great as long as you’re not expecting deep bass, and the battery life is above average. If you want earbuds that won’t hurt your ears or your wallet, these are a solid option. Just keep in mind there’s no noise cancelling, so they’re not ideal for planes or very loud environments. Beyond that, I’d be nitpicking to find much wrong with them. Design and Comfort: These are my first clip‑on style earbuds, and I’m pleasantly surprised. I expected them to feel odd, but they’re comfortable and secure. My ears are pretty average in size and shape, nothing unusual, so if they work for me, they’ll likely work for most people. The translucent design stands out immediately. I received the brown colorway, which looks great, and my wife already wants to steal them. Build quality feels solid, and the matching translucent case adds to the overall style. Comfort is impressive. They’re not quite as comfortable as some of my other behind the ear “hook” type earbuds, but they’re close. I can forget I’m wearing them, just not quite as easily as with those others. Touch controls usually annoy me, but these work well with minimal accidental taps since the clips stay put. I normally disable gestures in the app, but I left them on here because they didn’t get in the way. Sound Quality: Sound quality is strong for an open‑ear design. As expected, bass is limited, but mids and highs are crisp and clean. I tested EDM, country, rock, and rap, and everything sounded good. Vocals are consistently clear, which makes these great for audiobooks and podcasts. JBL’s Opensound and SonicArc design essentially directs audio toward your ear instead of outward, minimizing sound leakage. At reasonable volumes, you could use these in an office without bothering anyone else. Connectivity and Battery Life: The SoundGear Clips boast up to 8 hours of listening, with the case providing an additional 24 hours. A quick 10‑minute charge gives about 3 hours of playback, which is great when you’re in a rush. The lack of an included USB‑C cable just feels like a cheap move, and the case not supporting wireless charging feels like a miss at this price. Gym goers will appreciate the IP54 rating for sweat and water resistance, and the clip design keeps them secure during lifting, walking, and machine workouts. They stayed put even when bending over, though fit may vary from person to person. The microphone works well enough, with callers hearing me clearly even outdoors. Bluetooth 5.4 is included, but there’s no Bluetooth LE, which feels like another miss at this price point. Most people won’t notice, though. JBL App and Other Notes: You’ll want to download the JBL app after pairing, as there’s a firmware update waiting for you there. The app is pretty simple since these earbuds don’t have advanced features like ANC, but you can adjust a basic EQ, customize touch controls, and toggle JBL’s Bass Boost with it. Pros: • Beautiful design • Comfortable fit • Impressive sound for an open‑ear style • Good battery life • Easy, stable connectivity • Simple, clean app experience Cons: • No USB‑C cable included • Bass is limited (expected for this style) • No wireless charging case

I want to start this off by saying this is my first open ear concept wireless bud headphone..I wasn't sure what I was getting into when I got these and maybe I had different expectations. I would think for people who are used to this type of concept, they probably would be great, maybe even phenomenal for them. For me, not so much. --------- When holding the speaker part more into my ear, I can tell that the sound quality on these are fantastic. However that's where my problems begin as these just do not sit right in my ear at all, nor comfortably. I think my ear hole might be a little deeper to truly enjoy these headphones. I also find they don't stay "clipped" quite well onto my ear, especially sweating. --------- The overall design/appearance I really love..the clear transparent look with the bronze color is really beautiful looking. --------- The microphone sounds great. People haven't complained in this use case for me. I like that the JBL app lets you customize the mic settings and even do a sound recording test to pick the best profile. --------- I personally think room for improvement here is for JBL to somehow implement ear cushions or ear tips to attach to these for people who have a different shape ear or require more adjustment for comfort. Or somehow allowing you to extend/stretch out the curved stem part that clips around your ear. I think the design where it stands limits how much flexibility these could have with a little more fine tuning/engineering. --------- Another issue I have is when listening at a higher volume, everyone around me can hear what I'm listening to. Again I am not sure if this due to the design not being best suited for my ear structure or what, but I do not like that people are able to hear what is coming through the headphones, whether that is music or a phone conversation. --------- I really was looking forward to these, and wanted to love them. The little bit of research I did made it sound like these fit more snug and had a better fit than the typical stem type wireless ear buds. I don't want to put all this negative on JBL as I think I am part to blame for not knowing enough ahead of time. I think these can be great for people who are already comfortable and used to open ear headphones and I think JBL can make these exceptional if they implement some upgrades to the design that I spoke on here

I'm a big fan of clip-style listening devices. Having had two other brands in this category, they give me a mixture of day-to-day use that nested "in ear" earbuds and traditional over-ear headphones (obviously) don't. And that is that you either have to wear just one (over-ears, slide a can off to the side like you're live-dj'ing) or put them into transparent mode either automatically (which can pick up false-positives and interrupt your listening inadvertently) or manually, forcing you to constantly touch, tap, interact with them. Not to mention, they don't have to be forced into your ear, they rest and cradle your lobe, making them so much more enjoyable to wear for longer periods of time. Don't get me wrong, I love a nice fitting in-ear earbud, but they are so hard to fine-tune the fitting of and almost always rely on custom/aftermarket foam tips. None of that here! Clip-on remove all of that, yes, at the loss of full on noise-cancelling, but if you don't need that, they really do perform as a jack-of-all-trades listening device. This is the sweet-spot for someone who is on the go, up/down, at a desk, then walking around, hopping onto equipment, in and out of meetings, ect, which is 100% of my day-to-day. And the entire time you don't have to take them out, they can stay in, you can hear people talking around you, but I'll stop going on and on about this particular style of listening device and delve into the JBL Soundgear Clip themselves, which are *amazing* at all of the above, even better than my aforementioned two which I already thought were great, albeit from an entirely different brand. Out of the box, they are beautiful. They look like a million bucks and then some. This particular colorway (Copper) has some subtle mauve and brown undertones, really providing a bit of an elevated look to it. There are plenty of other colors I've seen, some look sportier, some classier, so a little bit of something for everyone, but this copper color is really lovely to look at and leaving the case sitting out on my work desk it fits right in with actual decor and doesn't look like I left them out after a workout at the gym. Aside from the case and buds, there's only a couple pamphlets, no cables or other items, so keep that in mind, you're going to need a type-c cable long-term. We likely all have at least a couple dozen of those at this point in our lives, but mentioning it all the same just in case. Open the case and they enter on/pairing mode. Download the JBL app on your phone, and you're off. If for whatever reason opening the case does not enter into pairing mode on that initial opening you can put the ear buds on (blue dot = left, red dot = right), double tab *both* sides and on that second tab keep holding your finger in place. After 2-3 seconds you will hear "pairing". Once paired the app guides you through the rest, takes a couple seconds of allowing permissions and the usual, then you have a lovely straightforward interface to adjust EQ, set call levels, make things more treble or bass focused, etc. You can set gestures and customize which side handles what, set your voice prompts, and do this for both audio and video modes. A nice added feature is the "other" section of the app which has a built-in "relax mode" with a few sounds that you can listen to singularly or combine for a soundscape with a time-limit ranging from 1-60 minutes. There's also a "find my buds", "auto power off", and your Support links are found here. Sound quality is great and what is to be expected from JBL. But remember, these are *not* in-ear, they will not noise cancel. You are going to inherently get ambient sound bleed, that is what they are designed to allow (to a certain extent). Even with that being the case, in noisier environments I found that they provide a great listening experience. Of course if you are in a very noisy space and try listening to spoken word or light jazz, your mileage may vary. Highly recommended, these are awesome and would buy for myself and anyone else that I knew was looking for a great put 'em on and forget day-to-day listening and call-taking device.

The look is the first thing you notice. Translucent cases with a metallic tint in colors like copper, black, white, blue or purple. They look more like a piece of jewelry than standard earbuds, and the matching charging case matches that style. Fit is the real strength. Each bud weighs about 6.5g. The SonicArc design angles the driver toward your ear canal and the clip tension is well judged, It's secure without pinching. I wore them for long stretches working, walking, and light activity with no pressure points or ear fatigue. If regular in-ear buds irritate you after an hour or two, these are a clear step up. They stay put for everyday movement but I would not rely on them for hard running or heavy gym sessions where a more locked-in fit is better. Battery is also decent. Rated at up to 8 hours in the buds and about 32 hours total with the case. Real-world use sits closer to 6 to 8 hours depending on volume. A 10 minute charge gives roughly three ish hours of listening, which is useful. Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint works reliably, and Google Fast Pair makes setup quick on Android. The JBL Headphones app gives EQ presets, a 10-band EQ, and customizable touch controls. IP54 rating on the buds handles light rain and sweat. The case is a bit larger than the tiniest competitors and does not support wireless charging which for me is a bigger issue. Overall they're comfortable, stylish open-ear clips with better-than-expected bass for the form factor, clear sound, solid call performance, and practical battery life. If you want music without blocking the world and without ear fatigue, the Soundgear Clips do the job cleanly and look good while doing it.

I was a little nervous to buy this product as I had not tried JBL before. I really like how lightweight these are. They are not tight. They are comfortable. They stay on when I’m walking and moving. I’ve used them at the pool. The sound is great. People can hear me and understand me when I answer my phone calls on that this is a great product. I’m glad I picked these up. I would definitely recommend them.

Clip ons are great, sound quality is great but it did give some skin allergic reactions which made me return the product

The JBL Soundgear Clips are truly amazing. Their noise‑reduction technology makes them perfect for the gym, running, and even office use. They stay comfortable for long periods, and the open‑ear design feels natural and lightweight. Overall, they deliver great sound, great comfort, and great versatility — an excellent choice for anyone with an active lifestyle.

I love that I can be apart of the environment around me while still having clear phone conversations. Much more comfortable and stylish with the open-ear design.

It sounds amazing but my shoulder keeps touching the button on the back and it turns off n on. very sensitive buttons on the back both sides.

Good Battery life, works very well, and it stays on your ear as advertised

At first I kept the box because I thought I would return them after the first week or 2. But I quickly got used to the bud piece not sitting inside my ear and found my perfect positioning on my ear. I’ve worn them alllll day somedays and barely notice them. They stay charged fairly long. The case is beautiful and the overall design is one of my favorite highlights and part of why I chose them. Sound quality is excellent. And a huge plus for me is that when I hop in the car, the Bluetooth doesn’t jump back n forth from earbud to car like my old cheap buds. I can wear them the whole ride home with no back n forth connection. I finally threw the box away after the first 2 weeks of wear.

Love everything about this product, especially the noise cancelation feature I live for ,excellent vibes. Believe me when I say I have tried them all.

Still learning the ends and out! But for the most part the sound quality is great!!

The the clarity of the earphones is good and the battery life is amazing on the charging case and on the earbud itself
