A: The box indicates that there is a stereo headphone jack. This is a retro "portable stereo compact disc cassette recorder with am/fm stereo radio". i wanted something simple so that my grandkids could listen to old cassettes.

Q: does it have stereo or mono speaker sound?
A: This is a stereo unit and for its size has surprisingly good sound. Keep in mind it is not a big boom box, but a portable smaller unit. However, I am very satisfied with the sound quality.
Q: does the unit shut off automatically when the cd is done playing ?
A: The CD will stop when done playing,but the power will still be “on”.
A: The "chapter" or track on the audio CD shows on the display, and you can even fast forward through the track when you start up again, so you don't have to listen to the whole track if you stop mid-track. Pretty nifty for the price you paid!
Q: How well does this hold up to typical kid use? Does is skip often if used in a car?
A: Yes it holds up great and is a great CD player. I also chose it because you can play your cassette tapes and record on blank ones also. Great price too. Love it!
