John Denver - Greatest Hits - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

2011 reissue of the 2006 budget 16 Biggest Hits series compilation originally released as part of the Sony Best Value Series. A well rounded collection that charted to #61 on the Top Country Album charts in February of 2007. Includes 2 duets with Emmylou Harris.

2011 collection from the late Folk/Pop superstar. This collection features all his great hits and ends with Denver's biggest songwriting success, 'Leaving on a Jet Plane', which now seems inseparable from Peter, Paul & Mary. But to hear Denver sing it, it's not a sunny, hopeful radio single. There's a real weight in his voice, as if he genuinely doesn't Inchknow when I'll be back again,Inch and the thought of being separated from his love is terrible and crushing. John Denver's got a way of feeling everything that seems almost alien in the cold environs of the 21st century, and - unabashedly earnest and easy listening as it is - the Ultimate Collection is a fine reminder of a gentle voice from another time and place. Includes 'Annie's Song', 'Rocky Mountain High', 'Take Me Home, Country Roads', 'My Sweet Lady' and many more. Sony.
