Great hardware ruined by terrible development team
Absolute garbage. The app if you can even call it that makes these easily the worst cameras I have EVER had the displeasure of using. If you intend on having the camera more than 5 feet away from your router then it’s a 50/50 shot of you seeing anything at best. If you want to rotate your phone to see in landscape mode, oops lost stream. Then you must close the app and start again. If I depended on these cameras for security i would be absolutely screwed. It’s not a matter of my connection at home either, 500mbps up and down should mean these cameras have no issue with bandwidth at 1080p. Adding salt to the wound, I can find no way to watch the feed without using their garbage can of an app. I was looking into it because unless you pay 100 per camera per year it is little more than a decoy camera. What good does an 8 second video with no cloud storage accomplish as far as security is concerned. Lastly, kangaroo literally does not employ a human that one can interact with, sadly just chat bots that redirect you to their coworker chatbot. None of these issues occurred until I updated the cameras to firmware .4. Would change my review if they allowed rollbacks or the ability to not use the scamware spam machine that they refer to as an app (I get 1000-3000 notifications a day from the stupid app) If you look at the uploaded screenshot you’ll see I have been waiting 8 yes 8 days for the camera to connect. What if I was out of the country or something? The word security in the naming of a camera implies that it will work without constant human intervention. Not sure who told kangaroo that these were security cameras. Miss my eBay cameras with the sketchy Chinese app, and that is tragic

Subscription Service Required!!!
This Wi-Fi camera is a budget friendly solution that offers sharp HD video & is very easy to install, but its best features are behind a pay wall. You must sign up for a monthly subscription to unlock person detection features, play back locally stored video via the app, & many two-way talk capabilities since many other brands offer the majority of these features for free so just don’t see buying this over the others offered. Negatives: 1. If you are on the free plan, you will get a nag screen to update to a pay plan ever time. (very annoying) 2. The best features require a subscription which can get pricey. I use the Kangaroo camera in the garage, it is a small & sits atop a hinged base that lets you tilt and swivel the camera. You can use the magnetic base to secure or mount it on a wall or ceiling with the included hardware and mounting plate. Setup & connecting to Wi-Fi was easy via the App. The camera has a microphone, and a single infrared LED. The camera records 1080p video at 25fps with decent quality & 130-degree field of view, has color night vision. A status indicator glows solid green when everything is working properly, & flashes green when the camera is offline or when it's performing an update. Bottom of the camera has a mini-USB power port and a microSD card slot for storing recordings locally. (you have to pay just to view your locally recorded videos on microSD card) Plan prices start at $1.99 per month or $23.88 per year which covers motion detection with 30 days of video history, event video recordings, motion detection zones. The two-way talk feature is also only available with pay subscription. Theft protection insurance is included with pay plans. The other pay plan costs $8.95 per month or $99 per year and includes everything from the Cam Protect plan, but you can have up to three cameras. You also get professional monitoring & theft or damage protection for up to $1,000. Finally, there is a basic free plan that I'm using which works well with just checking the status of my car but offers alarm feature like motion detection or video recording. The camera seems well built & reliable since no issues with using it for a week, but some basic options like motion detection & local recording viewing via app should just be included free like others.

Disappointed
This review is for my new Kangaroo Indoor/Outdoor Wired 1080p Security Camera. The camera is nice and small and comes with different mounting items to use in the way that’s most convenient. It has a magnetic and mounting option or you can put it down, like I do on my window sill. The camera also tilts and swivel as needed. I found setting it up to be very simple and straightforward. The app is also simple to use and it’s ready to use within minutes from the box. You can use a microSD card if you desire too but it’s of no use unless you pay for access. I set it up to receive push alerts for motion and sound detective. The camera records a short 12 second video clip of events it notices which you have access to for only 24 hours, unless you pay for longer access. I found it detects many things but there is a slight delay. I would get alerts and check and don’t see anything, I couldn’t understand. So I moved this camera next to another that I use and I realized the issue immediately. The problem is there is a delay with this camera, so when I get notification and view, the car or person going by is just about out of range of camera by then. On the other camera, that is next it, I watch and see a person or vehicle going by and see the event very clearly. On this camera, the camera doesn’t start recording immediately so the person or vehicle has left the zone or is leaving the zone by the time this records it. And I’ve set it to different zones, still the same issue. This makes sense that when I thought the notifications were false, they weren’t it was just too slow to capture. If it wasn’t for my other camera, I’d have no idea. I had to watch very carefully and noticed the back of vehicle or person leaving. This isn’t helpful. Maybe if I paid for the upgrade and subscription, it would work better but it’s not worth it for me. I’ll keep it in an area where I already have a reliable camera. At the beginning of setting up the camera, I couldn’t understand why the app needed so much info, like my address and many permissions such as my driving info. I have multiple camera brands and never was requested this. The basic feature is free and barely includes much, instead, they encourage you to purchase subscriptions to unlock other items, I get included with my other cameras. I do pay a small subscription fee for another camera I use, because I wanted full-length video recording that lasts for some time and person detection. So I’m not opposed to charging for extra features. But pretty much all that’s included for free with this camera is the 12-second (delayed) clip of detection that lasts 24 hours and an alarm. Simple features, like 2-way communication, watching the clips on the microSD card that you have to purchase yourself, as well as other features all costs. One frustrating issue, is also constant ads on this app for upgrades, for other products and something about car insurance? This is constantly, every other time I use the app. It’s a lot. It actually feels like spam to me. Maybe if this was a free product and you knew before you agreed to it, that your cost would be spam. But it’s just unacceptable to have these pop-ups constantly. As much I wanted to love this camera, I can’t. The size, tilt and mounting options are great. The video clips are most clear but with the delay, you miss items, it does work as well in daytime and nighttime. But the delay, the need for so much information, the constant ads, make me can’t recommend it. There are so many other camera options that has the things I like about this but not the cons.

Very good coverage camera
The clarity of this camera is so clear even though is a 1080 P even in low light. The included bracket Connects securely to the camera with a magnet connected to the camera base. This camera blends right in with the furniture in our home not even noticeable. I’m not fond of another app to use this device but the app is nice and very easy to use. I use it in many different ways as a keep an eye on the the grandchildren camera in side and out side speaker is clear. Sets up in a flash wish it came with a battery option as well wired connections don’t always work in certain applications. But all in all this is a simple to move around for different applications in the house in or out at your business even can be used as a car or truck dash cam situation works great I used my hotspot connected camera to the USB port and was on my way. Clear picture even it a moving vehicle crystal clear in daylight night time was not bad either. I gave this camera 4 stars for ease of use and setup and the app is not to complicated.

Great camera for monitoring my utility room.
Great camera that does what I need it to do. I use this camera for my laundry/utility room with the basic plan and it works out perfectly. The Kangaroo is equipped with an excellent mounting system with a magnet built in. Luckily, I have a piece of ductwork running on the ceiling of my utility room and the camera was easily mountable to this ductwork. The package includes a metal plate with adhesive on one side to allow you to mount this on non metal surface. The metal plate also connect stronger to the magnet so although the camera mount stuck to my ductwork I still used the mount. With the camera being upside down I had to flip the image in the camera settings within the Kangaroo app. Flipping the image was easy and I only to do it once. The basic plan has everything I need for monitoring my laundry/utility room. I have the capabilities to hear sound, night vision, sound an alarm, and record video as I am viewing. I use this camera to make sure everything is operating smoothly or if I identify a problem like a water leak issue while I am away I can call someone for help. The only reason I provided 4 stars is because I don’t receive notifications although all my settings are set on my iPhone and within the kangroo app to allow notifications. I am confused by this. Kangaroo also provides insurance on what you are monitoring. For example, if someone steals your package at your door or you have damage to personal items/your home you can submit a claim right through the kangaroo app along with video proof from you Kangaroo cam.
