Kenny Hamber - Best of Kenny Hamber - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Kenny Hamber was born on September 18th 1943 in Baltimore, Maryland. Like so many other gifted soulful vocalists of his generation, Kenny started his singing career in the local church at Weldon Baptist Church as well as performing with various Doo-Wop Groups such as The Enchanters and The Del Rios. His recording career in earnest started back in 1960 in Baltimore, MD with a local disc jockey by the name of Paul InchFat DaddyInch Johnson. Around that time he recorded a number of singles for small labels such as Spar, Zenette (InchTears In My EyesInch appeared on both labels) and De Jac (InchShow Me Your MonkeyInch) which were received well locally but never broke Kenny onto the national stage . It was also Fat Daddy who in 1967 introduced Kenny Hamber to Jimmy Bishop at Philadelphia based Arctic Records where he went onto record the Kenny Gamble written and produced Northern Soul gem InchAnything You WantInch and an infectiously funky cover of The Valentinos InchLooking For A LoveInch. Artic Records had enjoyed huge crossover success with InchYes I'm ReadyInch by Barbara Mason but were sadly unable to achieve similar commercial success with Kenny Hamber. A few years later in the city of brotherly love, Kenny also recorded InchCamel WalkInch for Mean Records. In the early 70's, Kenny became the lead vocalist with J.G & The Hitchhikers, who were signed to ABC Records and for whom they recorded just one album including the single, InchYou're Making A Big MistakeInch. After a recording hiatus, Kenny returned to the studio in 1986 where he recorded a version of Eddie Floyd's InchNever Found A GirlInch for Million Dollar Entertainment. It was originally released as a 12Inch single, which remains highly collectable in the UK and Japan, and re-issued on a limited edition 45 for It's Soul Time! Records in 2007 along with InchAnything You WantInch. In more recent years, Kenny h

The Temprees - Lovemen (ALL-ANALOG) - VINYL LP

Produced by Josephine InchJoInch Bridges and signed to her We Produce imprint, The Temprees were a Memphis soul vocal trio powered by one of the great falsettos in pop music, that of Jasper InchJabboInch Phillips. Their 1972 debut Lovemen is aptly named; this is one of the greatest make-out R&B albums ever made, with one smoldering slow jam after another. Their take on InchDedicated to the One I LoveInch is rightly considered the greatest version ever made, but InchIf I Could Say What's on My Mind,Inch InchLove... Can Be So Wonderful,Inch and InchI Love You, You Love Me,Inch will get you and your partner's hips swaying (and patch up any lovers' quarrels tout suite, too). Stax didn't really know what to do with soul this sweet (We Produce was a Stax imprint), so Lovemen languished commercially, but nowadays it's recognized as a model of it's kind. For it's first-ever LP reissue, we've cut Lovemen ALL-ANALOG straight from the original two-track album master, and pressed it up in black vinyl. The heart on the front cover sums this one up Album Tracks 1. Explain It to Her Mama 2. If I Could Say What's on My Mind 3. (Girl) I Love You 4. I Love You, You Love Me 5. We've Only Just Begun 6. Dedicated to the One I Love 7. My Baby Love 8. I'm for You, You for Me 9. Love... Can Be So Wonderful
