This is our second trash compactor. Our first one lasted 23 years. It was made by another manufacturer, and no longer made. I did not realize how much I would miss having one until it stopped working. We purchased this particular model because it was the only one I could find that has “extra compact mode“ I’m not sure why you would want a trash compactor that does not have this feature. True this apparently makes the trash compactor more expensive, but well worth the money. We simply uncrated carried it inside, pulled out the old unit, plugged it in and pushed it in under the counter. Probably the easiest appliance installation job ever. The filter feature works well but we really don’t use it since I basically washed out any food residue before placing in the trash bin I mean we do only take the trash out every 5 to 6 days. The stainless steel looks great and I would recommend this to anyone especially if you have children .

When we decided to buy new appliances my husband and I said we will splurge on one item and we’re choosing between the trash compactor and the ice machine. We decided on the trash compactor and couldn’t be happier. We went from taking the trash out almost everyday to once every week and a half. Greta product and would purchase again in a heart beat well worth the money. Not to loud either.

Our compactor is a great unit for a small space. Our kitchen really does not afford space for a large trash can, so we decided to replace an old broken unit that was already here when we moved in. So glad we did! We empty one bag a week compared to 3-4 bags previously.

Love this Trash Compactor. Replaced a Kitchen Aid Compactor that broke 20 years ago. Bought the Dishwasher first and saw the TC look alike. Love both of them. Very very pricey though. Worth it though.

This KitchenAid trash compactor replaced a 20+ year whirlpool trash compactor that we had. This one is stainless steel and it really works great.

Purchased this compactor to match appliances in new home. I thought it was expensive but chose to purchase regardless. Husband is handy and was able to install himself. The unit operates well, not terribly loud or long when cycling. I find the door is a bit wobbly in comparison to an old model I owned before but not too annoying. Looks good, works well. Glad I made the purchase. Best Buy delivered quickly, too.

I hate taking out the trash! My handyman installed this which wasn’t a replacement and it was quite easy for him. He gutted my cabinet using a skill saw and cut 1/4 inch off on one interior side and installed an electrical outlet and the rest was plugging in and moving into place. He installed it 10 days ago and I have to had to empty it yet. Usually I have to take out garbage at least 2 times a week. It is loud, but it compacts garbage and boxes wonderfully!

This trash compactor does NOT come with a front panel as shown. You have to build one yourself or contact a contractor to build one for you. You can’t buy one from kitchen aid they don’t carry them. I even contacted other places that sell compactor parts and they can’t get it either. There isn’t even a part number for one to order one!! So make sure you know this before you order one!! No body told us that!! It says that it doesn’t come with one but it doesn’t tell you that you can’t even order one!! We had to make a temporary one until we can get one made. Other than that I love it!! Kitchen aid has the best products made!!

Complete pice of garbage. Broke 1 year and 1 month after purchase during regular use. Best Buy and Kitchen Aid have been completely unhelpful and are not willing to do anything to help. Even laughing at the situation. Basically, these are DESIGNED TO FAIL the day after the 1 year warranty period. And they make you jump though hours of calls and waiting only to give you the finger and tell you they don’t care and won’t help. So they ripped me off successfully, don’t let them do the same to you!

I don’t actually know who I am more disappointed in - KitchenAid for selling such a product with massive defects or BestBuy installers for actually installing this in such condition.

So far it has been great! It fit perfectly where our old one was.

This is a great trash compactor. It has a filter you can turn on, it is very sturdy and easy to install. So far it is working quite well and no problems have been encountered. It compacts the garbage so well, I rarely have to dump it. It is kind of pricey but my first one lasted nearly 20 years and saves a lot on trash bags.

Its been about 2 months and we love it - easy install and really does its job compacting the garbage. i used to take 4-6 bags to the curb in two or three cans every few days.....now its literally one or 2 of these compacted bags all in one trashcan. I get the special bags from lowes (you cant use reg kitchen bags). BUT the unit is not whisper quiet at all - its quite loud - but only when compacting - meaning when you press it on it's loud going down then back up again...not loud 24/7....just for those 20 seconds it's being used.

So far so good! Compacter is attractive and fits well in the kitchen. Compacter is fast acting and not real noisy. It can accommodate a good amount of waste . I think it was a great choice! Recommend!!

Love this. I love the look of the front of this panel and the handle on it is nice and thick. You can lift up and pull out or step on the button below to pull it out. I will never be without a trash compactor again. It saves so much room in your dumpster. The only think I did not like is it did not come with tools that you need to install the special screws they have. I guess they thought the home owner would have these.

This compactor replaced an older Kitchenaid one. It's good, but the hidden controls make it more difficult to use. For example, when it's in compress mode, you can't open it until you run it once. With the old one, with the controls on the front, you could switch it from compress to normal and not have to run it first. In addition, the starter on the old one was on the front control panel and was easy to turn on. With the new one, you have to kick a tab at the bottom and if you don't have your shoes on, it can be difficult. As far as the actual trash compaction, that seems the same, it's just the lack of controls on the front that makes this one a little more difficult to use.
