Wow, replaced my Klipsch RF5's home theater towers with these and it was an excellent replacement. I replaced for downsizing from my towers. Side by side comparison was honestly a match. Now I have a 2 subs in my system so I really wasn't gaining much from my RF5's base so your stituation may be different. I did end up connecting them side by side via parrallel and wow wow wow again. Great move. Watch the video reviews compairing with the older and newer 600m ll's, the 600m's still a great choice.

The Klipsh speakers are a good value. Enough bass and good mids. Powered by a Marantz Stereo 70s they both create the sound I was listening for. I am very pleased with this purchase. Would buy again.

Amazing sound best bang for the buck Hi fi ref audio

Despite their small appearance, bookshelf speakers can often provide many substantial benefits for any home theater or audio system. For example, they can be used as front speakers or as surround speakers. In dedicated audio systems, they can be used to power standalone CD players or record players. The newest bookshelf speaker from Klipsch, the RP-600M, is designed to give you the absolute best sound experience, though at relatively high cost. Similar to the RP-8000, the new RP-600M features a new tweeter design, but in an elegant and compact design. Thus, I was excited to test a couple of scenarios to see how the new RP-600M performs. Once you receive the box, the first thing you will notice is that for bookshelf speakers, the RP-600M are quite heavy. The packaging was also of worthy praise and seemingly protected the RP-600M quite well. Each speaker was wrapped twice, first with a soft cloth cover and then an additional plastic cover over that. After removal, the RP-600M treats you to an absolute gorgeous high quality glossy finish. The craftsmanship is of the utmost highest quality, with a deep dark black color and a reflective coating that just captivates you. The corners transition perfectly with all sides of the speaker and are smooth to the touch. Any picture will not be able to capture just how good the RP-600M looks in person. It is simply jaw dropping. If you are on the fence on which variant to pick (Ebony, Walnut, Piano Black), I would strongly suggest the piano black variant, if of course your budget allows for the extra cost. Moving on, located on the back, you will notice two pairs of speaker terminals allowing you to Bi-Amp the speakers. Physically, the RP-600M are still quite large for bookshelf speakers. With a height of 15 inches and a depth of 11.8 inches, there might be some issues fitting them in dedicated bookshelf spaces on some furniture. Weight wise, they clock in at roughly 16 pounds, yet are of good sturdy quality. Lastly, the front grill cover does not snap in place but rather magnetically clips on and aligns with the front. Overall, I do believe the RP-600M has set a standard here. The RP-600M displays impeccable craftsmanship, combined with an absolute elegant piano black finish that just begs more attention. I think most people will not complain here. For my audio test, I wanted to see how the RP-600 performs in two different scenarios. The first will be using it as a surround speaker in a standard 5.1 channel setup. Next, I would like to shift to a standard 2.0 channel setup and focus solely on the performance of the RP-600M as the two main front channels. For the 5.1 configuration, I will test movies and for the 2.0 I will focus solely on music. The receiver I used was a Pioneer Elite VSX-LX303 to power the speakers, tied together using Audioquest 14 AWG X2 speaker wire that was manually cut from a 100ft spool. The VSX-LX303 receiver was also plugged up to the wall using an Audioquest NRG-Y3 AC cable. Additionally, I did not Bi-Amp the speakers and only used one set of terminals (bottom set). For playback of movies and music, I used my Sony Ultra Bluray UBP-X800 player. For my 5.1 surround sound test, I decided to fire up a few of my favorite movies to see how the RP-600M performs. Before I started, I ran the speaker calibration to make sure each speaker was working correctly and noted that the surround channels were slightly drowned out by the other speakers. I made a slight adjustment of +3.0dB on either RP-600M to bring it up a bit with the other speakers. Granted, your results will be different here and I am not sure exactly what caused this (possible loose cable or receiver related) but I am more than positive it is not related to the speaker. Moving on, I fired up Gladiator (2000), and immediately the surround sounds were in action. Providing a nice layer of supporting sound that was also heard from the front speakers (RP-8000), the RP-600M were also able to reproduce incredible highs such as whistles of arrows traveling through the air or sharp frequencies of swords striking other swords during fight scenes. When one of the swords hit the tree in the opening battle, the RP-600M shrieked in excitement. In addition, in the arena the RP-600M did a fabulous job of capturing small subtle details such as sounds from fights that were off to the left and right side of the main characters. Additionally, I also heard more swords cling loudly in the background. Overall, the RP-600M did an amazing job, providing a complete surround sound experience. Highs and middle frequencies were absolutely stellar, encompassing the room for the full home theater experience. In the Patriot(2000), the results were equally stunning, providing a rich layer of supplementary sounds to the rest of the system. Yells and commands from soldiers are heard in rich detail, as muskets and cannon fire was clear and punctual. Once again highs and middles were extremely pronounced here. Perhaps the biggest improvement I heard was the fight in the woods in which musket fire would explode in each speaker with a sharp and devastating effect. It was an absolute blast! Overall, I believe most will extremely pleased with the results. As for my music test, performance throughout was quite consistent. Classical music was exceptionally bright and warm with absolute stunning clarity; each performer and instrument was easily heard. Highs and middles once again dazzled the senses. Acoustic rock, as well as ambient instrumental tracks, also performed well. As one would assume, low frequencies in more Rap or Dance/Trance oriented tracks did not show up as well, but nonetheless, it still produce an acceptable amount. It was definitely able to reproduce some of it and you clearly knew where low frequencies were in the particular song. For a bookshelf speaker, most will be pleased. Rock and metal also sounded excellent, providing nice clarity in the middle and upper frequencies. Symbols were crisp and loud, while the drums and guitars remain separated and punchy. Despite over compression on some recordings, I was quite happy that it did not sound muddy or hollow; nor did any part echoed or sound flat. Overall, I am confident that, given its compact size, the RP-600M will stand out among all bookshelf speakers. In conclusion, the RP-600M provides an excellent solution for any audiophile's desire to purchase quality compact speakers. Though expensive, it can be confidently used as a surround speaker in a home theater or as main speakers. They will also perform exceptionally well if used with a standalone home stereo or record player. The piano black finish is sure to dazzle just as much as its sound that it is capable of reproducing. Sound quality expectations were unequivocally met. With a strong soundstage and physically attractive design, the RP-600M comes highly recommended.

Don't let "Bookshelf" make you think these are the traditional small speakers. Be sure to check the dimensions for your area because you will not want to return after listening with proper Bi-Amping enabled! (If you buy these, you need to Bi-Amp, not simply Bi-Wire to hear the clarity improvement). The ebony wood with silver grain looks very classy, and the speaker covers are magnetic! This offers easy removal and prevents accidental damage. Couldn't be happier with these as my front speakers given the limited space I had to work with.

The Klipsch RP-600M is the latest iteration of the Reference Series which has already proven in previous reviews to be a great line of speakers. Regardless of whether you want stereo sound from all corners of the room or need to complete a surround sound setup the RP-600M can fit the bill. Previous generations included the copper driver which create a look of sophistication when the grill is removed but the latest generation includes an extra thin copper accent line. It might not sound like much, but it really improves the overall appearance. More notable is the change from the old black vinyl appearance to the new Piano Black finish. In pictures you might think it cheapens the appearance, but you really must see them in person to appreciate. The best way to think of the look is to imagine when you have seen a gloss black grand piano or any other musical instrument with that deep, dark, highly polished finish. In person you see a quality finish that adds a bit of elegance to your setup. Just keep in mind there is one downside to having that very glossy finish. Scratches, dust, or fingerprints show up easily but with proper care the look can make the difference between your room looking like it’s filled with plastic boxes or high-quality enthusiast equipment. For enthusiasts they can become a piece of furniture you will love to look at. If for some reason you need to cover up the drivers, you can always opt to leave on the included grills which hold on with magnets. With magnets there is no need to worry about damaging fragile pegs and when removed it leaves a completely clean finish on the front of the speaker. Most will be completely content with a single wire setup, but for those who must have the best you can opt to bi-wire or even bi-amp. By default, both pairs come connected by a heavy bus bar which is easily removed. The binding posts accept up to 12-gauge bare wire or banana plugs. Appearance means nothing if it isn’t backed up with great sound. Audiophiles might have their favorites but it’s hard to deny that Klipsch speakers create great sound. The tone is distinctly Klipsch being slightly bright without being unpleasant. You can appreciate a Soprano with perfect pitch without the pain and harshness produced by some speakers. Low notes of a Bass are faithfully produced with no hint of distortion. Combine them with a good quality recording and feel as if you are watching a live performance. If you are using these as part of a home theater setup it means you can hear the deeper sounds from behind that small surrounds just can’t produce. Those tiny rear speakers you see on some audio kits might seem like a nice idea but if you ever try these you will see the small surrounds lose a lot of the depth of the movie. Add these to your surround sound setup and you won’t want to go back. If you are looking for a more immersive experience with your music and movies the Klipsch RP-600M warrant serious consideration.

These Klipsch bookshelf speakers are a perfect package if you're tight on space or looking for the complete surround package. In my setup I'm limited on space at the back-side - so these are pretty big to use as rear-surrounds. You can see from the photos these are serious speakers - if you are tight on space in your setup, these would work perfectly well as your front-facing L/R pair without any problems. Audio wise they bring a element to the surround experience that you just dont get with smaller satellite speakers. Rather than the odd FX, they help immerse you in the audio - especially when paired with an AVR capable of DTS:X or similar virtual audio space. I ran these using a single pair of quality audio cables, but they include dual-posts for bi-amping the speaker if you need that extra refinement. Bass is booming, mid and high frequencies are crystal clear as you would expect from any premium Klipsch speaker. My only criticism is the piano-black gloss finish - its a dust magnet, and prime for microscratches and finger prints. Do your stress levels a favor and buy these speakers in the matt-black or walnut finish. The back of the Klipsch have a bass exhaust, which although helps maintain the premium quality audio - if you have kids its likely to be a magnet for little hands (and whatever they can poke in there). Some of the larger speakers have these too, but tend to be up against the wall. If you angle these bookshelfs, or have them free standing for surrounds (and have little kids) you might want to obscure the back - anything that goes in there lands straight on the speaker cones, and I dont know how easy it would be to get it out. I received these speakers at no charge for evaluation, but all opinions expressed on here are my own, based on real use in my personal environment and setup.

I recently acquired the Klipsch RP-600M bookshelf speakers as an upgrade over my Klipsch Pro-media 2.1 system. After a full week of in-depth research into how to setup a quality audio system of my own I pulled the trigger on these massive book-shelf speakers. In terms of music listening, the increase in mid-range power and clarity is immediately apparent. These speakers blow anything I've heard out of the water in terms of sound quality, and at the same time act as eye-candy with the amazing glossy finish and copper accents. Attaching the cleverly designed magnetic covers lends to a more laid-back atmosphere, looking both refined and elegant. The copper elements are not at all apparent with the cover in place, for those who would rather the speakers blend in with their environment. I am currently using the speakers as a stereo set-up for home theater, and making use of the bi-amp capabilities. The set-up, even for bi-amping, was a breeze. On my receiver (Yamaha RX-V483, highly recommended at only $280 from online retailers, and no discernible difference from the V485 for my purposes - V483 is the 2017 version of the V485) I had to change the settings to Bi-amp and configure the speaker settings I was using. I set these speakers as Large in the menu, and was not using any other speakers. For the rest of the physical setup, I merely had to loosen each of the binding posts on the back of the speaker a smidgen to remove the connecting bars, then after tightening them back down use a fingernail to pop out the red and black plastic nubs concealing the banana plug ports. I used Mediabridge 12AWG speaker cables and the connections fit snugly and easily into the ports on the RP-600M. Less easily set-up were the speaker stands I decided to use, the 28 inch version of the Monolith steel stand by Monoprice. Each one had to be assembled from parts, and I decided to fill each stand to maximum capacity of about 20 lbs of sand even though it was a hassle. I highly recommend doing the sand outside regardless of which stands you get, and for the Monolith ones I did a test run of attaching the top plate to make sure it was straight before committing to the sand, as the bolts to adjust each of the columns were on the bottom. Overall it probably took me two hours of assembly for the stands. However, I'm definitely pleased that I filled them with sand, as the RP-600M speakers are quite heavy. With the rubber pads (supplied with the speakers) securely in place on the bottom of the speaker at each corner of the 6x8.5 inch top plate of the Monolith stands, and each stand weighing in at 35+ pounds fully filled, they are not going anywhere. I have a low-pile carpet and I didn't feel the need to make use of the carpet stakes included with the stands as it would take an impact from a large dump-truck to tip these speakers on a quality stand. Each one weighs something like 16lb, so the friction generated by the rubber feet is enormous. The stands would absolutely tip before the speaker would slide even a fraction of an inch. Though the set-up for the Monolith wasn't super easy, I would recommend looking at this stand for the RP-600M as they are very stable for the price and look quite nice with the Piano Black finish. Overall, these speakers are amazing. I haven't seen the ebony color in person, but I for one am stunned at the perfect beauty of the piano black finish and think it was $100 well spent. These speakers are so impressive looking that I might just have to upgrade my TV so that it isn't so overshadowed aesthetically. As far as watching things in a home theater setting goes, these make excellent front speakers. Honestly I can't imagine needing anything more from your fronts, though the new Piano Black floor-standing speakers from Klipsch look so good that I might eventually use these as rears if I ever come into any money. I do think that these would be nicely complimented by a nice quality subwoofer, and I plan to add a Klipsch R-110SW subwoofer(the cosmetic match to the RP-600M) to my setup so that I can really feel the low-end for movies. As far as music goes, the RP-600M get down to about 40hz, which is impressive for a bookshelf speaker. I would imagine some people would be fine without a sub, as these definitely move a lot of air. I prefer music with throbbing bass, however, and the difference between these and my pro-media, which included a subwoofer, is noticeable in the low-end. Another thing I noticed is that trying to force very low-end sound onto these speakers can cause a bit of muddying in certain songs, as they simply aren't intended for tones that low. That isn't a strike against the speakers, it just isn't feasible for these speakers to sound great all the way down to the lowest end of the spectrum. For most people, I would say pairing these with a small subwoofer and setting the cut-off at 60-80hz is going to be the way to go if you want excellent bass response. Overall I'm extremely impressed with these speakers. For those starting from nothing, expect to take a hit to the wallet. In total I spent about $1200 to get these up and running, with $280 of that being a receiver upgrade to support bi-amping, $65 in speaker cables (you need twice as many to bi-amp, I found that two 6ft and two 12ft worked great for my setup where the receiver is off to the side of my TV stand), and $145 for my stands. I also recommend investing in some velcro cable ties to help keep your wiring neat. I would definitely recommend these to anyone considering a new stereo setup or looking for front speakers for a surround sound set-up. Keep in mind that these can only be seen at Best Buy locations that have a Magnolia Home Theater Consultation Center. I actually ordered them without ever hearing them first, to audition them in my own home. It worked out great! The other thing to know is that you have to visit a Best Buy location in order to order these, you cannot order them by phone or online, and delivery is in-store pick-up only. As long as you're fine to wait about a week to go and pick up your product I say go for it! You won't be disappointed!

The best speakers don’t draw attention to themselves, and these sit politely next to my TV and pretend they’re not there. Perfect! They are placed in an alcove, not an ideal location, but do not exhibit any of the “tubbiness” in the bass this should cause. Male voices sound natural, and the overall sound is smooth over the whole range. With their horn loaded tweeters, some Klipsch speakers have been accused by reviewers of being overly bright in the treble range, but with these at least, that is not the case. One of the best indicators of this characteristic is “listenability.” In other words, they don’t cause listener fatigue. Essentially, I use them instead of a sound bar. Of course you will need an amplifier, but the speakers are very efficient so it take very little power to get them up to live music levels. I’m using an old receiver I got for nothing. The soundstage is good enough to make adding a center channel superfluous. Overall, these speakers have met or exceeded my expectations.

Great sound, better price. Used these to replace some older Boston Acoustic speakers I thought were good.. these are better.

I may need a new source of power. The product looks great, the sound is not that great. I am working on that part. It has been said that it is the operator.

you need to lower Treble a little, as they are a little shrill. But the sound quality is so good, you can point to the location of instruments between the speakers. I have always preferred tower three ways. And early experience with horns made me hate them. This has rewritten the rules and changed my mind. If you have an average size room, they sound exquisite. Do not expect thunderous bass, but expect good bass. These are speakers for nuances and detail, not boom. Youll hear small details in everything you never noticed before.

When paired with a subwoofer, 4 of these speakers fill a room with the sound you are there. When playing a guitar, you can practically visualize someone playing guitar in front of you. A song with a piano sounds practically the same as my wife playing on her grand piano (she is very good). The only negative is that the high notes are exceptionally sharp and you may want to adjust your receiver for that. An interesting phenomenon I observed that you can be several rooms away and the music is still clear.

This par of speakers performs like far more expensive speakers at a fraction of the cost. They have a very clear sound with nice treble but not too much bass. Listening to music from these speakers are where they really shine. I use them for everything like music, movies, games and cable/streaming. They don’t disappoint in any area. You will need a center channel for dialog in movies tv. I really like these speakers and so much bang for the buck.

I was a bit hesitant at first because of the price for 6-1/2 " bookshelf speakers. I am a big box speaker guy and a former musician who loves music. After playing my old albums and CDs, with same amp as before, I am sold. No more taking up the whole room with speakers; and she likes this concept also. High caliber sound and less muffed bass than my old 10 inch Technics 77s. Highly recommend these speakers.

The Klipsch RP600M's are excellent speakers. I do not think you can find better speakers for the money. I have them in a small room and they sound great, very good base for their size and they really give you that live sound that Klipsch is famous for! I would definitely recommend them if you have a limited budget!

These are awesome speakers. I spent a good time doing research and these were highly recommended. I got new amp and cables so everything is breaking in, but so far sound is great. Very satisfied with the product. The only negative is only esthetic. The vinyl surface could be better, the fascia is great, just not the top and sides.
