Kotodama could have been a perfectly fine mystery school adventure if it didn't try to hard to be everything at once. It tries to have a puzzle fantasy game where their clothes come off, like HuniePop, but it goes no where after. So was their a point to having them strip and moan in this fantasy... other than to just have them strip and moan... no. Kotodama is a shining example of way too much of not enough. The repeated puzzle games do not work well on their own, nor gel together with the story to form something new. It doesn’t even offer a basic feeling of quality to the puzzle itself. It’s a match three puzzle... how riveting. Unfortunately, what could have been another excellent Death Mark-like supernatural adventure (That game I absolutely love) ends up more like a bad knock off of a Scooby Doo episode, although rather than pulling off the rubber mask to reveal the truth, you instead force your way into a schoolgirl/boy's mind and undress them against their will with a Bejeweled-style mini game. Kotodama also pretends to give you a choose your own adventure style, but it’s not. The game forces you onto one path, and after the twist it gives you the option to now choose how to responded. Which is laughable because now... you have two choices instead of the one it originally gave you, or three instead of the two before. Wow... I wonder what choice it wants me to make. I could forgive the repetitive puzzles, and lack of choices... if it did anything with the story! For example, and kind of a *SPOILER* but it’s the very beginning of the game so... not really a *SPOILER*. So you are tasked with helping solve the 7 Mysteries of your school. The first one is called The White Wolf. If you find the wolf, and manage to pet its fur you’ll be granted good luck... however it will attack anyone who comes near it. In the end, it turns out that the wolf is just a stray dog that is getting beaten by one of the students as some form of stress relief. You play a puzzle game to “strip” the truth from her, and she snaps out of it, claiming she feels bad for what she has done. What do you do with this information... nothing. You don’t tell anyone, and nothing happens with this new found information. Case closed, it’s an abused dog not a wolf. It would be one thing if it gave you the option of ratting her out to the school, or keep it to yourself that later effected the game... but it doesn’t. Even later when you now have “control” of what to do... you still don’t tell anyone. So for the $5 I paid for the game... it was okay. However the $20 they think it’s worth, it’s not.

This is a visual novel/match game where you need to find clues in online chat forums and special words to build up your power levels to advance in the story and to find the true ending, but i will tell you it will not be as easy as it sounds. But if you enjoy a good story driven game give this a try.

You live through the eyes of your character while trying to uncover truths of your school. It has a puzzle-fighter / tetris thing going on for the challenges. It's not bad for a play-through or two.

This is a puzzle game that's not very good. It's way too repetitive to keep your attention for more than a few minutes.

I found this game to be completely inappropriate to be in any household with young children. The young lady's strip and moan throughout playing a Candy Crush type game. It was like strip Candy Crush. Albeit it is marked for Teens sure fine however not for teens who have younger siblings around. Also, a boring game my teen thought during the time they played it.

I originally purchased this game used from gamestop, but bought again from best buy for only $4.99! A price that can’t be beaten even the gameplay and story is just ok. It can also serve as an easy platinum as long as you can follow a guide for it.
