I’ve been researching gaming laptops for a few months now that fit my price range and I’ve been eyeing this one and finally decided to just give it a shot. Best decision I’ve made. It is perfect for my all my needs. (Gaming, editing, work, streaming) It’s fast, with several different functions that change performance and quality. It never gets hot, the fans can be loud depending on the setting I use. The oled screen is beautiful. I can go on and on. I’m still new to gaming laptops, I have a lot to learn..but I’m glad I went with this one as my 1st.

I recently picked up this 2025 Legion Pro 5 from Best Buy, and I am blown away by the value Lenovo is offering this year. If you are looking for a gaming laptop that balances top-tier build quality with high-end visuals, this is it. Display: The 2.5K OLED screen is the absolute star of the show. Coming from a standard IPS panel, the "true blacks" and vibrant colors make a massive difference in games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur’s Gate 3. The 165Hz refresh rate keeps everything buttery smooth, and at 500 nits, it’s plenty bright even for daytime use. Performance: Don’t let the "5060" tag fool you—the new RTX 50-series architecture paired with the Ryzen 7 8745HX is a beast. With 32GB of RAM already included, I haven’t run into a single bottleneck. It handles AAA titles on High/Ultra settings with ease, and the 1TB SSD gives me enough room for my core library right out of the box. Thermals & Build: Lenovo’s Coldfront Hyper cooling system is legit. Even during long gaming sessions, the fans stay surprisingly quiet in "Balanced" mode, and the keyboard stays cool to the touch. Speaking of the keyboard, the TrueStrike keys feel great for both typing and gaming. Pros: • Stunning 2.5K OLED display (best in its class). • Comes with 32GB RAM – no need for immediate upgrades. • Excellent cooling and thermal management. • Sleek, professional "Eclipse Black" look that doesn't scream "gamer" too loudly. Cons: • Battery life is typical for a gaming laptop (get used to the charger for heavy tasks). • The black finish picks up fingerprints easily, so keep a microfiber cloth handy!

The Lenovo Legion 5 is a strong starter laptop for anyone getting into gaming, graphic design, or even heavier creative work like 3D modeling and rendering. Performance-wise, it definitely delivers. I’ve seen noticeable improvements in render speeds compared to my previous machine, and the processor handles demanding tasks pretty smoothly. That said, battery life is probably the biggest downside. If you’re planning to work unplugged for long stretches, this may not be the best choice. During intensive 3D modeling and rendering sessions, I average around 45 minutes on battery, which is typical for performance laptops but still something to keep in mind. The cooling system works well, but the fans can get pretty loud under heavy workloads. The RGB lighting is a nice aesthetic touch, especially for gaming setups, though it does contribute to additional battery drain. Overall, if performance matters more than portability or battery life, the Legion 5 is a solid choice. It’s powerful, reliable for creative work and gaming, and a great option as long as the shorter battery life and louder fans aren’t deal breakers.

I’ve been using the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 for a while now, and it honestly exceeded my expectations. The performance is extremely solid — everything feels fast and smooth. Games run great on high settings, and even when I’m multitasking with multiple programs open, the system stays responsive. The screen is one of my favorite parts. The resolution and refresh rate make a big difference, especially in fast-paced games. Colors look vibrant, and the image is sharp whether I’m gaming, watching videos, or working. Build quality feels premium and sturdy. It doesn’t feel fragile, and the keyboard is comfortable for long sessions. The cooling system does a good job — yes, the fans get louder under heavy load, but temperatures stay stable and performance doesn’t drop. Battery life is reasonable for a gaming laptop. It’s clearly designed more for power than ultra-long unplugged use, but for everyday tasks it lasts well enough. Overall, the Legion Pro 5 feels like a powerful and reliable machine that balances performance and quality. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a strong gaming and productivity laptop.

This has by far been the best purchase I've made. Everything is fast and responsive. My favorite thing is that the laptop remains to be cool and not have the fans be really loud while it's set on Quite mode and that's all you really need and is what I've had it set to for all the games that I've tested. But, if you happen to need a little power boost you can change to either Balanced or Performance mode. The screen is really pretty and the resolution on games looks really nice. I was a little worried about potential damage for delivery, however with how it's shipped and packaged it's snuggly secure so any accidental damage shouldn't be too much of a worry. Overall, I would recommend this! I did purchase this during the winter sale, so the current price may not be worth it for some people, but for what I paid for, it absolutely was.

Upgrading from my HP Envy 2-1 that I had for 4 years to this laptop has been great investment. The display quality, features, speed, and rgb keyboard all in one. Battery is not the greatest in my opinion, however it’s going to be a home laptop so not to concern about it. Definitely a laptop to look into especially if your into gaming as well.

I’ve had the laptop about 2 weeks now. The performance is top notch. 9.5/10 I minused a .5 because compared to my Asus Vivobook 14 pro, it experiences a lag after booting up when it’s time to press enter and sign in, lagging a second before you can type the password. That’s nothing significant at all but in comparison to my asus it’s just something I myself can mark down. I use the laptop for my architecture classes and this laptop was a great choice to run revit and autocad. The laptop’s design is beautiful. I love the design. It gets hot closer to the top near the screen in performance mode but the fan does a good job cooling My 2 issues with the laptop that are a deterrent are the battery life and power LED (the light around the power button that can change colors depending on the laptop performance mode) For a laptop this amazing, the battery life kills the product. Even on light work the battery is terrible. 3/10 The Power LED is a major distraction and cannot be dimmed nor turned off, especially when it’s red. It’s also hard on the eyes. I wish there was a way they would make it more discreet or able to be manipulated as it serves a significant purpose. I would recommend this laptop but you must be willing to put up with these 2 major drawbacks and create your own solutions

This laptop works incredibly well for both daily use and gaming. The performance is fast, the screen looks amazing, and it stays smooth even with heavy tasks. The battery life is better than I expected and the build quality feels solid. Definitely worth the price

Needed it for architecture school because my Mac couldn't handle all the data. I like its physical properties, and my expectations were met for this laptop. The performance is perfect for architecture students and will definitely allow me to render my buildings without having to deal with lagging often experienced in mac. I haven't tried it with gaming yet, but I can't wait to play City Skylines on this. One thing I'm disappointed by is the battery life. I often have to recharge it multiple times a day especially when using it for the whole day. The battery drains quickly in contrast to Mac, I think one time I had to charge it 5 times in a day while working on Rhino for school. Overall great and would recommend, though if anyone has a hack that would allow the battery life to not drain easily I would highly appreciate it. Y

Firm, premium quality and smooth to the touch. Satisfied at the fact that it's not turning my fingers into fried egg. I've never seen games run this smooth or look this stunning on any laptop. Of course this is just. Initially review for now.

This gaming laptop goes above and beyond if you’re looking for a solid gaming rig. The Oled screen looks amazing. But if running on performance the battery will run quick.

Hi ErikP-
Thank you for choosing Lenovo and sharing your experience with us. We are thrilled to hear that you are enjoying the performance and display quality of the Legion Pro 5. We aim to offer great user experience and would like to recommend a few solutions to improve your battery life.
Firstly, the Legion Pro 5 allows you to change the computer’s thermal mode. This will allow your device to cycle between higher performance, quiet, or automatically adjust based on your needs. To start, launch the Lenovo Space app, Under the CPU and GPU Performance gauges you will find the option to toggle performance profiles. We suggest using Quiet mode which will lower the battery consumption of the Legion Pro 5. You can also toggle thermal modes simply with the Fn+Q hotkey.
The Legion Pro 5 also includes the option of controlling the “GPU Working Mode”. You can find this within Legion Space, just below the Thermal Profile modes from the previous step. This allows your device to switch between the integrated GPU and discrete GPU. By switching modes, you can enhance battery life through the Hybrid-iGPU Only Mode which will lower the power draw of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics card or enhance performance with dGPU Mode which will enhance display performance.

i should make it clear that i'm NOT a gamer. i bought this computer because best buy had it on sale and i couldn't pass it up. the specs are amazing. it boots quickly and i love the OLED display. i absolutely hate the trackpad placement. it's too far over tot the left and the pad on my thumb it constantly hitting it while typing and it throws off my cursor. it's very loud. the fans run quite frequently even while looking at sites with minimal graphics and video. for those complaining about the battery life, it's a laptop...that being said, you basically unplug it long enough to move it and plug it back in so that you can use it. this lenovo is probably overkill for what i use it for....as stated earlier, i'm not a gamer, so i can't say whether or not it is sufficient for gaming.

Amazing⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantastic Performance, Gorgeous OLED, and Surprisingly Quiet I’ve been using the Lenovo Legion Pro 5 (2025) for a few weeks now, and it has exceeded every expectation. The combination of the Ryzen 7 8745HX and RTX 5060 delivers outstanding performance in both gaming and productivity. Everything feels fast, responsive, and effortless — even with multiple heavy applications running. The real star is the 16" 2.5K OLED display. Colors are rich, blacks are truly black, and motion clarity is excellent. Games look incredible, and the higher refresh rate makes everything feel smooth and immersive. Thermals are also impressive. Lenovo’s Coldfront cooling keeps the system cool under load without the loud, distracting fan noise I’ve experienced on other gaming laptops. The keyboard feels great to type on, and the RGB lighting is a nice touch without being over the top. Storage and memory are generous, and the build quality feels solid and premium. It’s a powerful machine that still manages to feel refined. Overall, this laptop hits the sweet spot between performance, display quality, and everyday usability. I’m extremely happy with it and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a high-performance gaming or creator laptop.
I got it for like 500 bucks off and it runs like a champ. It has a sleek design, a brilliant OLED display and performs well on games and work tasks. The battery life isn’t the best but I’m not big on using this beauty out in public much anyway.
