My wife and I were looking for a 4K TV. We compared reviews on several different brands and models before making a purchase. We strongly considered Samsung, because we had two Samsung TV's in our home that we have been very pleased and happy with for many years. However, they are not 4K and it was time to upgrade. We also wanted to keep 3D capability, and this LG OLED is the ONLY one we found that still offers 3D with this kind of quality. So, we took the plunge and purchased the 55" LG OLED Curved. We got it home and set it up. First, I have to say I was impressed with their packaging! It made the TV easier to remove with ZERO risk of damage. Set up was very quick and extremely simple. The TV was gorgeous! Thin bezel, gently curved panel, nice stand that just makes the TV look as though it's just floating. We hooked all our connections up and turned the TV on. Commence with "OOOHS, AAAHHS, and WOW's"! The picture is incredible! Extremely lifelike with deep gorgeous blacks and stunning color. The OS is simple to understand and use. Set up was super simple and nice. We also tried the 3D which just blew us away. Comparison The wife was still unsure about the reviews and couldn't believe the LG could possibly be better than a Samsung. So, we bought a Samsung top of the line 9500 model, just to be sure and compare the two in our home. We compared the Samsung to the LG OLED side by side in every category. Here's our honest thoughts: Samsung's packaging was badly lacking here. Unboxing was a pain. The box was not designed to lift off like the LG's. Instead you must lie the box down flat and proceed from there. It was a little challenging and was worried about accidentally causing damage to the fragile curved panel. LG wins for simplest unboxing and set up and best curve. LG also wins for best picture, deepest blacks, and dimming. Aesthetically, the LG also wins because the "floating" stand appearance is gorgeous and is great for owners who do not want to wall mount their TV. Samsung stand left much to be desired. It's pretty if you like the "bling" factor, but I felt they could have done much better as it is a bit awkward to move around. The built in Wi-Fi is also excellent, solid and steady; where the Samsung dropped connection frequently. The LG has 3D which is mind blowing; whereas the Samsung does not have 3D. For the price tag on the Samsung, 3D should have been included. The Samsung's curve is more in depth than the LG, and I honestly didn't like it. The curve on the LG is gentle - not as deep and I felt it offered much better and very clear viewing from the sides. The only thing I can hand a win to Samsung on is their remote. It is small, nice, and offers excellent voice control. If you own a new generation Apple TV, the remote is very similar to it. In comparison, the LG remote is larger and longer, but has many more options for control on it. I liked the Samsung's OS as it is simple, clean and easy to use. It automatically recognizes devices connected to it and offers input icons to match your device. That being said, the LG's OS is also very nice and simple to use, but with many more features to tweak your settings. Samsung and LG OLED both have excellent sound. Gaming - LG handles gaming with the PS4 amazingly well. I had some Lag and motion issues with Samsung. With the LG, I didn't even need to switch it to Game Mode and was able to play without noticing any issues. Final Thoughts There was simply no denying that the LG OLED was, hands down the best, and we have chosen to keep it. We returned the Samsung and haven't regretted our decision one little bit! LG really has a truly superior product with this 4K OLED, and even I am surprised by it (having been primarily a Samsung fan for many years). It has now been since November and the TV picture quality just keeps improving. Can't say enough good things about it!

On black Friday the LG 55 inch curved screen OLED tv went on sale marked down $800 bucks at Best Buy. i quickly made the purchase online and left for town to get it. The picture is absolutely incredible. A few days later I seen Best Buy had an open box sale on the curved sound bar w/ wireless subwoofer. At $200 bucks off I jumped on it. Best Buy shipped it the next day, overnight air to alaska at no additional charge. Extremely happy with the TV and the soundbar. Extremly happy with both LG's Quality and Best Buys willingness to deal with me on the open box and the shipping charges. Best Buys customer service is top notch.

This has a curved screen. I didn't think I would like it but it is not noticeable while watching. I has the darkest of blacks and the colors are vibrant and real.

It's the best 4k picture out there. The OLED 4k hdr makes the picture more realistic and clean than any other.

Very happy with 4K Tv Oled. Regular content almost up to 4K quality. 4K Dolby Vision is fantastic on Netflix’s. Sound quality you would think is coming out of a bar. Picture five thumbs up.

First the pros- picture quality is top notch. Can't be beat for the money. Blacks are crazy deep, colors are amazing and pop, and clarity on all sources are top notch. But.... Motion handling leaves a lot to be desired. When the camera is stationary while filming, this tv is amazing with motion. But while the camera pans side to side or up and down, the judder is very noticible. Maybe it's cuz I'm coming from a plasma that i notice the motion issues more then others, but I definitely notice it. With that said, I would still buy this tv in a second. Just room for further improvements with the motion. I should also note that if you engage the soap opera effect that some prefer, the judder is eliminated.

I love my new TV! When people come over and watch it with me they are awed by the picture and with its Smart TV capabilities. I was hesitant to invest so much in a TV, but the OLED is worth it! The curved screen makes me feel almost as if I'm "in" the picture and I have never seen a better picture on any other TV.

Superb picture quality, sharp image, even DVD quality streaming movies looks great, good motion flow, I haven't test 3D movies yet but I'm planning to do the test very soon, the sound on the speakers is great, not compared with surround sound or even a sound bar but for a tv of this size, is plenty of sound and you can tweak to meat your sound preferences, yes it is pricey but you get what you paid

I love love love my new LG OLED 55 inch TV. I was extremely impressed with the salesman Jerome Carpenter from the Warwick, RI store. He was knowledgeable and had great customer service skills and he was willing to go that extra mile to answer my questions and show me how to use the tv. He is the best!!!!!the TV is fabulous; the colors are so true. Best decision ever!!!

Yes it's expensive but that's by by design. No one else makes OLED panels but LG and the blacks and colors are unreal. I'm using a Home theater computer, Apple TV for, and Xbox one. The built-in Netflix and Amazon apps are great as they can do native 4K decoding

Our TV has been showing lines or bands every other day almost. It goes away when we turn the tv off and turn it back on. We have never had this issue with any of our older less expensive TVs.

I highly recommend an OLED TV for anyone that is willing to purchase a high end TV. People buy TVs typically once every 3-8 years so you should make the purchase that is most future proof. This TV supports Dolby Vision, HDR10 and with patch will support HLG (tv broadcast) via firmware update. The blacks on this TV are truly black. The colors on any content are truly amazing. With the HDR Game Mode firmware update, this TV is also great for HDR gaming. I'd recommend purchasing the newer C7 if possible (2017 model vs this 2016 model) mainly due to the 20ms input lag vs this model (33 ms).
