I regularly format shift my content from physical Blurays that I purchase to DRM-Free digital to my own personal Plex server. I have an old chonky, but reliable 4K Bluray drive in a Sata enclosure that I keep in a drawer. It does a perfectly fine job, it's just a pain to find room on my desk and connect. Enter this slim little BluRay drive; I can keep it hooked up and it doesn't take up much room. I used clear 3M VHB to adhere it to the underside of my glass monitor stand, so it takes up no room at all! When you first get it, you'll have to upgrade the firmware, as out-of-the-box, all functions are not supported (including 4k Bluray reading). Once that's done, you'll need to use the two-plugged USB-to-MicroUSB, connected with both plugs, as the power draw exceeds USB 2.0.. Disappointing that in 2023, devices are still sold with MicroUSB, but I digress. Most disks read just fine with the software I use, and it's quiet and adequately fast (about 1 hour to extract a full BluRay movie, DVDs take like 15 minutes). All in all, it meets my needs and doesn't take up a lot of space doing it... now to tackle this pile of disks.

Its great for viewing bluray movies, i didn't know you couldn't watch 4k uhd movies but as a standalone its does its job.

I purchased two of these drives to back up my Blu-ray movie collection. They work with MakeMKV and UHD Blu-ray movies as well. As others have stated, it's a bit loud; I placed mine on something soft as a buffer to reduce the noise. The included USB cable is a micro USB to a USB-A split (Y) cable. If you don't have two USB-A ports, you can use a USB-C hub that has two or more USB-A ports to power the Blu-ray drive. Overall, it is a great drive for the price and works as expected.

This LG burner/player is a workhorse and a great addition to my wife's desktop. With the decline of internal burners, my wife wanted an external solution to help her digitize our CD collection, capture pictures from old DVDs and burn new picture DVDs. Setup was very easy and only requires two USB ports for the cable provided. Once the software provided was loaded using the player, ripping and burning was a breeze. If you are searching for a great external burner/player at a great price, then I certainly recommend this LG and it is currently on sale for $79.99.

This Blu-ray drive has been a wonderful addition to my setup. I particularly appreciate how it operates seamlessly via USB, offering great convenience. It performs its functions efficiently without any noticeable lag. Furthermore, its compact design ensures it doesn't take up unnecessary space on my desk. I am very pleased with its overall performance and utility.

Works well. I flashed this drive from it's stock firmware BP50NB40_1.03 to DE_LG_BP60NB10_1.00_MK_HBD.bin and then flashed it using SDflash and instructions I found on Reddit and MakeMKV forums to BP60NB10 1.0. Now it can read my retail 4K UHD drives and help me back the disks I've purchased legally to my personal computer. It's reasonably quiet, ejects nicely with a button on the front, loads the disk nicely, and is exactly what I was hoping for; and all for a good price!

Incredibly fast with a small footprint. Makes authoring DVDs a breeze. Would definitely buy again.

I like the fact that it is an external drive that operates through the USB port, because I have a DT that has only one slot for DVD drive (with another DVD). If some standard DVD dual layer media is written (video) in a BD writer, it won't play in a BD player, but will play in a standard DVD player. I don't know why, it's just the way it is. Out of about 15 BD discs written so far, only one has failed, which was likely due to a bad sector on trk 0 of the disc. I expect to enjoy the use of this drive for many years. Facts at hand: Rated for USB 2.0, not 3.0. Must use 2 USB slots (requires more power than a single slot rating), and includes the cable for it. Uses USB type C connector at the other end, which seems a bit flimsy. Cable is only 22" long (excluding connectors). Comes with a software disc, but not needed, as the unit is plug & play. The software is essentially a demo version of Cyberlink.

This is a good external blue ray drive. It works great with my desktop and laptop PC. One thing to beware of is the data/power cable two USB 2.o type A connectors. They are close together and you will need the USB ports on your computer to be close. This will not be a problem for most desktop computers, but laptops it may be a concern. I attached a picture of the cable. The drive played my blue ray DVD without a problem. I haven't tried burning a Blu ray DVD. The included software will do the basic stuff, you want something better for more advanced things.

This drive doesn't take up much space, and could possibly be stuck on the side of your computer tower with velcro strips or double-sided tape. The drive burns homemade CD's DVD's and Blu-Ray's easily with your burning software. I make full backups of my computer to 50gb Blu-Ray discs.

Great Blu-ray burner, very lightweight and compact, one of the best features that I like is the M-Disc compatibility to keep safe my invaluable photos and videos. I'm very happy with my purchase.

It's a very solid product that still holds up. Still not sure why these suddenly disappeared over the last year, and are so incredibly expensive as apposed to even a year ago. But I'm glad I was able to snag one for a great price here

I bought this because I needed to backup some Blu-Ray discs and this does that perfectly. It is also useful to go with my laptop so I can take some Blu-Ray movies with me when I go on a trip.

Not a common piece of tech but insanely cool applications available

Quality product for watching Blu-rays without optical drive, however it is worth noting that you need nearby USB ports for it to work.

Works great. Found a work around the two USB ports. All you need is a USB C to USB A adaptor and a USB C cable. The USB C carries enough power to run the Blu ray drive. But make sure you plug the cable into a USB 3.0 or higher port. Hope this make it easier for those who only have one USB 3.0 or higher port.

I'm so fed up with the New Laptops and PC's not having a disc drive . It hurts me to know that I'm all about tech , yet most of the tech I grew up with is obsolete . Still having this handy portable Blu-ray player does bring back old and cherished memories .

I had purchased a similar item on line, which would not play newer Blu Ray discs so I went to Best Buy, where the Geek Squad tested this one first, everything working just fine. My reason for only 4 stars instead of 5 is that it needs two USB ports to work properly.

Works great as a external drive for a laptop. Included software needs to be upgraded to allow fully potential of the drive to be used. It does require TWO USB connections via the provided cord due to power demands during burn.
