I absolutely love this DVD writer!! I've been trying to convert a lot of old family footage from DVD RAM, DVD R, and DVD-RW, and this was one of the only options available and it's super affordable! It's also really conveniently sized, so it's great for portability! I just connect the (Male Micro-USB to USB-A) power cord it came with to a USB-A to USB-C male adapter so I can connect it to my Macbook Pro 2023. I've also been using it to burn CD's for myself and my friends, and it's really quick and quiet reading and writing everything!! :D

Recently built my first desktop that DIDN'T include any internal optical drive. With this, and the fact that most higher end laptops don't have optical drives, this was a great purchase when on sale. What's nice is that this is still a "tray" and not a "slot drive," so the media won't move. The USB 2.0 cable is the ONLY cable you need, no additional power connection. Plug and play, works like a charm. I still create DVD videos to share with my family (read: grandparents) but not often enough to warrant an internal drive. Since this can be used with various computers, laptop, desktop, it's a great resource to have laying around. The drive is really small, as somebody who has been into building and upgrading computers for almost 20 years I can't believe this is only powered by ONE USB cable

I was a little skeptical at first. This DVD/CD player and burner was marked at such a low price, I figured something had to be wrong with. However, I took it out of the box and didn’t even need to read any instructions. It was fairly self-explanatory. I wanted to catalog my CD collection, since it’s all digital now and goes with you in our pocket computers. I haven’t had any issues whatsoever, it has worked great and for only 20 bucks, there is no way another one could come close!

Overall good product when working properly. Is slow at times due to USB 2.0 connection, though hardware may also be a factor. Note for those purchasing multiple for dual ripping: Some may have a smooth, reflective surface, while others may not (shown in photos). I am unsure for the reason, but with my experience, it has nothing to do with performance. One writer may run faster than the other at any given time, most likely due to hardware limitations.

This drive works amazing! I burned 100 DVD’s back to back with this drive, and it performed exceptionally all day long. I used the drive with macOS and Windows, and had no issues either way. It also played back DVD’s as expected, and came with some included software which was useful.

Bought this to be able to play discs when I purchased a mini CPU to replace my tower. Easy to install and learn to use. Downloaded the Power DVD 20 that came with the software. It actually plays some older DVDs I have that I used to use in class that my tower DVD player would not. So far would recommend. Is working on my Windows 11 system as well. Have not attempted writing as of yet.

Suddenly I needed to view a CDs contents, and came to realize no computer in the house has a CD drive! Coulda sworn the old one had one... and I didn’t feel like wiring an old dvd writer to my editing computer. So I looked for “available right now” and “local” and landed in this expensive solution. It worked! I hope we still have USB ports when I need to use it again in....THE FUTURE

I bought this to go with my new computer I bought from Best Buy. I do not use it often. But it is fast, and quiet. I ordered online. The delivery was fast on time and packaged vary securely.
I am really glad I bought this DVD+RW/CD-RW Drive. I currently do not have an read/write drive on any of my computers. I like that it is small and lightweight and it works really well.

I bought this to transfer music to my Mac and it works perfectly! I was a little worried it wouldn’t work with my Mac book pro 14, but it surpassingly transferred straight to iTunes without and issues. It may be a little slow, but worked flawlessly and I can’t complain at all.

LG always a good product. Stands up reasonably well to my Verbatim drive at a fraction of the price. Good capability with Linux.

Most laptops don't come with one built in anymore. This is an easy solution! Simple USB plug in

Computer manufacturers are streamlining their products, and the DVD/CD is a thing of the past-unless you happen to still enjoy listening to music or accessing stored images and data. Thanks goodness that LG is manufacturing this product. The other beauty is that I can share it with my wife, who also misses the ability to use the CD drive. It's totally seamless.

I'm really impressed with this one. It has a variable speed control that allows it to be much more quiet than other drives. It runs really well with the included single USB cord and plug. It's sturdy and has very attractive design. The top has a matte finish. The USB cord has a nice snug secure comfortable fit into the USB micro port on the back of the drive. The eject button is easy to see because of its physical design, but also because there is a nice green LED light on the button. For external DVD drives, this model will be the one I use to measure others by. Thanks to LG for creating a well designed product. CONTEXT — I spent $100 on an LG DVD / Blu-ray drive that failed in about 10 months. That was disappointing... and the product photos didn't show that the USB cable has two ends — one for data and one for additional power. So, I was reluctant to buy another LG drive, but I thought I'd try this LG DVD drive. I'm glad I did.

I needed an optical drive as my 2018 Mac (as well as my work MBP) does not have one. This was primarily to pull archived MP3 data of albums burned for storage long ago. On sale for $20 - the LG was a no brainer. For Mac, none of the included software is required.. fires right up (in my case USB-A>USB-C).. Reads everything I’ve thrown at it so far.. Data discs took a little longer, but got there. 4 stars because the build quality is a little suspect. The pictures imply a metallic housing, but it’s most definitely shiny plastic. I’ve had great luck with LG.. and this seems to be no exception. Recommended!
