About This Item

As we cast about for a solo vibraphone album to satisfy our desire to have a solo-instrumental album by as many single instruments as practicable, we could think of only one player, an old friend we wanted to author his own chapter in the JMI story Warren Wolf. We first worked with Warren back in 2007 for Brown Brothers Recordings when he was just a newbie on the New York scene and have watched with amazement as he's ascended to his rightful position as one of the giants of the current vibraphone. There are many virtuosos out there but Warren's complete lack of judgment beyond InchgoodInch and InchbadInch make him one of the most pleasant people to be around. In a perfect world we'd record Warren Wolf records all day, every day. By the way, he brought his marimba too. Album Tracks 1. Life 2. Things Were Done Yesterday 3. Chano Pozo 4. Come and Dance with Me 5. Mika 6. Us 7. Melted 8. Gang Gang

Sun Ra - Prophet - VINYL LP

Featuring what may be his only recordings on the Prophet keyboard, these once lost performances expand the omniverse of Ra across a stellar set of lengthy cuts! All recorded in a single day and finally making their terrestrial debut, pressed on red vinyl and packaged with a Prophet keyboard brochure plus notes from Ranthropologist Brother Cleve! What happens when a Prophet meets a Prophet? The answer lies within these grooves. Amongst the hundreds of recordings issued by Sun Ra and his Arkestra, under their various guises, the majority were recorded in concert or in makeshift studios such as their early 1960s set-up at NYC's Choreographer's Workshop. Beyond those, roughly 22 albums were recorded at Variety Recording Studio in New York's Times Square. However, on August 25, 1986, Sun Ra and cohorts entered Mission Control, a state-of-the-art 24-track studio north of Boston, which was teeming with electronic keyboards and otherworldly sound generators. Nestled within that arsenal was a brand-new digital ultra keyboard - the Prophet VS (InchVector SynthesizerInch). Of all the keyboards Ra played throughout his half-century career, the Prophet was one of the most sophisticated. There's no evidence that he had played either of the instrument's earlier incarnations, the Sequential Circuits Prophet-5 and Prophet-10. Created using microprocessors, a then-new technological advance, under the auspices of engineer Dave Smith in 1978, the Prophet-5 revolutionized electronic music as the first polyphonic and, most importantly, programmable synthesizer. Ra was intrigued by the Prophet (surely by the instrument as well as by the name). Recorded during a single day, it's about time that these once lost performances have now been found. Album Tracks 1. The Prophet 2. Infinity Excursion 3. The Prophet at Play 4. The Prophet Returns

Mac Miller - NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert - VINYL LP
    4.7(9)

Vinyl LP pressing. Mac Miller's Swimming marked a pivotal point in the late artist's career. His devotion to constant sonic exploration and artistic reinvention had already been well-documented prior to the album's - the quantum leap from his Billboard chart-topping debut Blue Slide Park to his sophomore album Watching Movies with the Sound Off, his tour de force as a producer on his 2014 mixtape Faces and ability to direct a full band on 2016's The Divine Feminine were evidence of his steadfast commitment to growth in his craft. Yet upon it's , Swimming was immediately understood by both his fans and critics alike as the high water mark of his career an album that perfectly showcased the musical chops he had developed vocally and instrumentally over the course of a decade. This understanding was reinforced when, just 3 days after the album's , NPR Music published a Tiny Desk Concert where Miller and band performed album cuts InchSmall Worlds,Inch InchWhat's The Use?Inch featuring regular collaborator Thundercat and Inch2009Inch with a full band. The now-iconic performance remains one of the highest streamed performances in the history of NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series and is now available on vinyl for the first time. Album Tracks 1. Small Worlds 2. What's the Use? Featuring Thundercat 3. 2009

Deftones - Around the Fur - VINYL LP
    4.6(12)

Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression. This LP version comes pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Album Tracks 1. My Own Summer (Shove It) 2. Lhabia 3. Mascara 4. Around the Fur 5. Rickets 6. Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) 7. Lotion 8. Dai the Flu 9. Headup 10. MX
