You have to be very careful screwing in this unit because if you twist the camera by the wrong section you can sever all the internal wires and thus cut power to unit; especially if there is any resistance to screwing it in, ie obstruction from the light fixture. I couldn't fit my hand to the top of the unit to screw in from the top where it connects with bulb socket so I screwed in from the bottom and that is how it broke as the fat part of the camera didn't quite fit all the way up the fixture as I screwed it in and I forced it a bit too much. I missed the return window with Bestbuy and thus had to go through Lorex warranty and this was a very cumbersome process with a difficult to understand agent that took about an hour on phone and I'm still working through that process and the higher ups have to approve the warranty claim and they promised a call back. I did buy 2 of these and 1 of them works great after using a 1" extender that I bought on Amazon (Lorex sells extenders too but much more expensive); and I am very satisfied with it. It can follow anything that triggers it and has provided very interesting activities that happens near front door of my house all night long including raccoons and possums. For some reason I have had to reset the position a few times as it gets off track for its default positioning but that is pretty minor and hasn't been a problem lately. Also be sure to get a micro sd card for it as you will need storage or you will need to get a cloud subscription. No monthly subscription is needed if you get a card. So don't force anything when installing I think is the key advice. Otherwise I'd a solid camera at a very fair price for the incredible technology of this. If it won't screw in then get an extender or back off; they don't give you any warning about this in the install instructions. Maybe partially my fault but since there was no warning about this, I don't feel bad about making warranty claim and hopefully getting a replacement. I didn't realize that when I was twisting the bottom that the top was not turning too; hopefully that makes sense.

This product could give a little more detail on how to program your viewing. However still like it. My light cage is a little longer so i had to get an extension to screw this camera in this way it can record below the bottom of the frame. Pro: it can record everything if u don't sit the zone correctly. Con: Should be a better way of explaining how to set the Zone for each motion.

The Lorex 2K Wi-Fi Smart Lightbulb Pan and Tilt Camera is a very creative and smart way to easily add a security camera to any location that has a light fixture with an E26 base, which is your standard household bulb. I have mine installed front porch light fixture. Initial setup is very easy, and it requires you to download the Lorex Connect app. After you're connected you will most likely need to update the firmware. After this, you're all set to go. You can monitor vehicles, people, sounds, and any motion at all. This camera will also track the motion and you have the option to have a bounding box showing what the camera is tracking. You can adjust the sensitivity of the detections to help prevent false alarms. You can also enable or disable the built in light to go on with detected motion. You can also disable the light altogether, which is perfect for my situation, because I have permanent outdoor lights around the perimeter of the front of my house. The biggest draw for me to this camera is that it uses a mico SD card to store your videos and doesn't require a subscription to a cloud service. That's one of my biggest turn offs for security cameras. In fact, there is no option for a cloud service at the time of testing. I really like this camera in general, but there are some issues I hope gets resolved with future updates. One being the most important to me is that the camera doesn't always go back the it's preset position. It will be close, but if you setup detection zones, it will not line up correctly when it doesn't return to the right position. Another big issue I have found is that when streaming video playback of detections on my phone, it will stutter depending on the motion of the camera. The more the camera pans and tilts, the more it stutters. I tried streaming in SD instead, and it only made a small difference. I have other cameras that have this feature, and this is not an issue at all with any of them.

Let’s be honest—home security can feel overwhelming. Between complicated setups, ugly cameras bolted to walls, and wiring nightmares, it’s easy to put it off. But what if your security camera looked like… well, just a regular lightbulb? That’s exactly what the Lorex 2K Wi-Fi Smart Lightbulb Camera pulls off—and it actually works really well. It’s a Camera… That Screws In Like a Lightbulb Seriously—no drilling, no electrician, no fuss. You just unscrew your old bulb, screw this one in, and you’re halfway to having eyes on your space. I set mine up in under 10 minutes while my coffee was still hot. The app walks you through the rest: connect to Wi-Fi, name your camera, and boom—you’re live. Even my tech-wary parents could handle it (and they still use a flip phone). See Every Corner—Without Moving a Muscle One thing that surprised me? The pan-and-tilt feature. Most plug-in or bulb cameras stare in one direction, leaving blind spots. But this little guy can swivel left, right, up, and down—all from your phone. Want to check if the dog’s on the couch? Swipe. Wonder if the front door’s locked? Tilt down and peek. You can even set it to slowly scan the room automatically. It feels like having a security guard who never blinks. Sharp Day or Night—No Grainy Guesswork The 2K video quality is crisp enough that I could read the label on a cereal box across the room. And at night? The infrared night vision kicks in smoothly—no spooky green tint, just clear black-and-white footage. I tested it after dark, and yes, you can still recognize faces (sorry, sneaky teenagers). A Few Real-World Quirks to Know It’s not perfect, though. The biggest gotcha? If someone flips the light switch off, the camera goes dark too. So it’s best in a fixture controlled only by smart switches—or a spot where no one fiddles with the switch (like a porch or garage). Also, avoid hanging it from a swaying pendant light. Wind or bumps can make the image wobble, which gets annoying fast. Stick it in a ceiling fixture or stable lamp for best results. Bonus: It’s Also a Light! (Sort Of) Yes, it lights up—but don’t expect stadium-level brightness. It’s more like a soft ambient glow, great for hallways or as a nightlight. If you need serious illumination, you’ll probably want another bulb nearby. Still, having both functions in one sleek unit keeps things tidy. Is It Worth It? For the price, absolutely. You’re getting high-res video, remote pan/tilt control, night vision, and dead-simple setup—all disguised as something that belongs in your home anyway. If you’ve been putting off home security because it felt too complicated or invasive, this might be your “aha” moment. Final Thought The Lorex Smart Lightbulb Camera isn’t trying to be flashy—it’s practical, clever, and quietly effective. It won’t replace a full security system for high-risk situations, but for everyday peace of mind? It’s one of the smartest (and simplest) upgrades I’ve made to my home. And hey—if it stops one package thief or catches my cat plotting world domination, it’s already paid for itself.

The Lorex 2K Wi-Fi Smart Lightbulb with Pan-Tilt Camera is an innovative device that allows you to add a camera anywhere you have an existing lightbulb socket. One thing I want to say off the bat is to make sure you download the correct app before setting up your light. Please see the image attached to this review. I made the mistake and just typed in “Lorex” in the Google Play Store, saw that the logo matched, and assumed it was the correct app. You will need the Lorex CONNECT app, not the Lorex CLASSIC app. I was frustrated for days, thinking there was something wrong with either the product, the app, or my phone because my phone wasn’t picking up the bulb’s wi-fi signal. Once I figured that out, the unit was very easy to install. The unit comes out of the box ready to go. You download the app first. Turn off the power to the socket (recommended), install your Lorex into the socket just like you would any bulb, and turn the power back on. You will need to have this on a dedicated socket/switch that can be powered on all of the time. Next, you use the app to connect your phone to the product. You can only sign into Lorex Connect on one device at a time. However, you can invite shared users to view the camera. They will need to set up their own Lorex account and have the app on their phone. You can then use their email address (the same they registered their account with) and invite them to view the camera feed. You will need a MicroSD card for memory. There is not a subscription option at this time. You can also record live video and download it directly to your phone. The image is fantastically clear. The camera pans easily around so you can get close to a 180-degree view of the area where it is installed. This would be great for a garage, a porch (the unit is indoor/outdoor), or even a playroom. The light intensity can be controlled by the app as well. The app will send you notifications if there is movement observed. This a great alternative to running wires all over the house or having to screw cameras into the walls and ceilings. No tools required. As long as you have a working socket, you can have a surveillance camera. It would not replace an alarm system, but it can give you peace of mind.

You can't have enough security, and I've gone through quite a few iterations. I've had wired cameras, but hated them because it was always such a hassle to route all the wiring. So I got wireless solar-powered cameras, but they're bulky and stick out like a sore thumb. I also have doorbell cameras that wire into the doorbell wiring and even a floodlight camera that just wired itself in place of my floodlight. So I thought, why isn't there a camera that can just screw into a light socket and use that power??? Fast forward a year and here we are, reviewing exactly what I've been wanting. Setting up this Lorex cam is about as easy as it gets. I just downloaded the app and it walks you through a few simple steps, including a firmware update, and it was ready to use within minutes. You have to pay attention to the app you get though, as I found several different Lorex apps in the App Store. Once setup, I went into the app, configured some settings and setup notification alerts. Best part though is that I was able to open the app, go straight to the camera, and easily control the view. The camera was responsive to my inputs and the picture quality was as good as expected for it only being 2K. One feature this camera has that I thought I would have to give up is that it does also have a light built into it, so while you're taking up a light socket for it, you don't have to give up the actual light, and it's plenty bright. I think what my favorite thing about this camera is though is how easy it is to move around. If there's a light socket, there's a security viewing location, and moving it is as easy as changing a light bulb. For times when I go on vacation and want an extra security camera inside my house, I just screw it into a ceiling light, floor light, or whatever location I want. Other times I'll have to keep my normally garaged car outside for a night, and for those occasions I just screw the camera into my porch light. The one thing I do wish Lorex added though was an adjustable socket somehow to make it easier to use when you want to use it with a socket that is anything but vertical. Luckily I found angled light socket adapters online, but it seems like something that should be either integrated or maybe included with a device like this. Overall I'm really happy with this camera and it has given me a lot more peace of mind in situations where I normally wouldn't.

I love trying new, technically advanced devices. When I first noticed Lorex’s 2K Wi-Fi smart bulb with camera, I thought it was a neat idea. Having a pan and tilt camera attached to a socket light bulb was something I never thought of combining. I wanted to see how it would perform by testing in my garage first. Could it detect my vehicle, and could the camera follow when it detected motion? Setup I was able to get the device setup easily. Once I installed the smart lightbulb camera in my garage to test things out, I connected it to my Wi-Fi. To my surprise, it connected right away. I then was met with an automatic update. I couldn't find the firmware revisions on the website, so I just assumed it made the device perform better. I combed through the settings and options in the Lorex Connect app to familiarize myself with the app layout. The smart lightbulb camera allows you to adjust the color temperature, have a 2-way conversation, and activate the siren based on the alert you desire. All meaningful options. Lorex Connect App Since the smart lightbulb camera is one of the newer devices in the lineup, I needed to download the Lorex Connect app. This app is not to be confused with the Classic version. I was able to choose the types of alerts and select thumbnail images to show based on the event. Adding a micro-SD card also added the ability to capture events on the smart lightbulb camera. The cloud-based subscription isn't available as of the time of this review. Pros: Able to screw the lightbulb camera in a socket. The lightbulb has Wi-Fi 6 built-in with 2k resolution. Able to pan/tilt the smart camera. Can be placed wherever a socket is available. Color night-vision. Cons: Light bulb not dimmable. No Google Assistant or Alexa compatibility No IP water rating Audio sounds muffled when conversing Lifespan of bulb Takes an extended time to load camera when moving to another light socket Things to consider Lorex recommends installing the smart lightbulb camera in a sheltered area if placed outside. Still unclear about the wet rating of the device. I scanned the website to check and I couldn't locate any info on it. All in all, this is a good smart device that has the potential to improve over time with some additional software updates. Some areas of improvements are: AI detection accuracy and Smart Home compatibility. I think adding/updating these two features will improve the overall user experience. Overall, I think the Lorex Smart bulb with camera would be a good choice that allows monitoring in a cost-effective way. Having the ability to add a micro-SD card allows the comfort of having video stored locally. This is a win in my book.

The Lorex - 2K Wi-Fi Smart Lightbulb Pan-Tilt Camera is a nice product. Installation is as simple as replacing a lightbulb and then connecting the camera to your router using the Lorex app. The only problem I had with the installation was setting up an account with Lorex. After installing the Lorex Connect app and filling out your info, the app prompts for a code that is sent via email. The code is only valid for 5 minutes, and every time I requested a code, it showed up after the 5 minute window. I wound up going straight to the Lorex website and created an account using that interface. Once my account was set up, the rest of the initialization went without a hitch. There is an ambient light directly above the camera that basically replaces the bulb that this unit replaces. However, this light is more than just a bulb; with the app, you can control as well as the light temperature as well as when the light is activated, even setting it to vacation mode to simulate someone being home. The camera itself is mounted on a gimbal that allows it to tilt up and down as well as rotate 360 degrees so it can be pointed at any area you an see from the mount point. The app allows you to choose the detection settings for the camera, which include motion, person, vehicle and sound; you can set the sensitivity for each, and if motion is detected, you can have the motion bounded by a box and even tracked by the camera. I installed the camera on my back porch, and it's been doing a very good job of keeping me notified of motion and sounds. I really like the ability to be alerted to loud sound; there was a large limb that fell out of sight of the camera, but the 'thump' was picked up and I was alerted. There have been the occassional false 'person' detections, but overall, the number of false alerts has been fairly low. The captured video clips are very clear and the sound is crisp and speech is intelligible. Overall, this is a nice product. It's quite simple to set up and it's loaded with useful features.

The Lorex 2K Wi-Fi Smart Lightbulb Camera is easy to set up since it installs like a regular lightbulb, offers wide surveillance with its pan-and-tilt feature, delivers clear 2K video with color night vision and built-in lighting, and supports local microSD storage so there are no monthly fees.

The pan-tilt feature and the ease to set up is an excellent feature! The image quality is also very good.

The picture quality is really good. There are a couple glitches though. The light loses brightness over time and the only way to restore it is to reboot the camera. The automatic scheduling system for the light doesn't always work correctly. Sometimes the detection features misses people, only marking it as motion.

Works great! Surprised with the quality of the camera and light hue adjustment.

Good little camera. Good view just a little slow even with the sd card

The light on the camera bulb is great but that’s about it. It could be the best but it’s just not because you have to download multiple apps to use all their products which is super annoying should be able to put all of it on one app. Or upgrade the rest of the cameras to 2026 version . So you have a choice. !! he also need to upgrade and preset, so you can have snapshots like the rest of the companies do !

This is the second one I purchased. The first one works wonderfully. This one has a problem that the light never comes on and it loses the internet connection. I think it is defective. So glad I bought it from BB, they will replace it without any hassle.

Works as intended easy set up. Took like 20 mins to set it up.

Love it. Clear coverage. Easy install. Good voice range.

Does everything I wanted it to do, but storage is on the card, so if it were to be taken, my photo/video footage would be gone as well.

I am very happy with this purchase and recommends it to anyone interested in truly having the best experience with color and resolution with zoom and panning!!

It is the best!!! Works great!! Best part i can move the camera around.
