Lucy Ann Polk was one of the most acclaimed Jazz big band vocalists of the early 1950's having won the Downbeat Inchgirl singerInch poll two years in a row, in 1951 and 1952, when she sang for Les Brown's band. Make no mistake about it, this is not a Doris Day sound-a-like. Between 1948 and 1954, Les Brown had a top notchBebop band which included Don Fagerquist, Dave Pell, Wes Unsell, and many other Jazz luminaries.
