This little MIDI controller is absolutely the best you can get for the price. I don't really think there is another MIDI controller out there within a price range just under $100 that can stand against this one. It is not like this THE MIDI controller, but it is amazingly good for what you pay. I bought this one because I wanted to have something portable, lightweight and with synth action keys, and that does not require external power. The key action is very smooth, and very nice to do some lead solos and pad effects. The build quality is very good and it does not feel like it is going to break soon. Being that said, it does feel a little bit fragile, but you cannot really complain for an $85 keyboard. It is really plug and play, even bearing in mind that it is a keyboard that doesn't have sound itself. You just get the included CD on your PC and that's all! I really haven't tried the bundled software yet, but the actual main reason why I bought was to power it with an iPad 2. YES, an iPad can power this keyboard with NO external cables or chargers using the iPad camera connection kit and the included USB cable. It works BEAUTIFULLY with iOS apps, like GarageBand or sampletank. The reponse you get from the keys is really outstanding. I even tested the MIDI velocity (sensitivity of the keys) using and iPad MIDI monitor app, and the feedback is really impressive. I mean, you want to play really soft piano, you get remarkable expressiveness out of this little MIDI keyboard. You want to play really hard and heavy piano parts, you can do that to without having change the velocity of the keyboard it self. The only drawback I could find (which really has a good reason to be) is that it only has a sustain pedal input, the USB power in put and an on and off switch. No MIDI in or out. I think that the reason for that is that, because it only is powered by a USB cable, a MIDI input/output would mean more battery consumption. It really isn't much of a big deal. Overall, I would highly recommend this keyboard to people who don't really want to spend a whole lot of money in a fancy and expensive keyboard. If you got the proper software, you can do much more than what you are actually paying for. That being said, if you have already a nice but big and heavy keyboard, and want to get a second keyboard to record on your computer/tablet, or have a second smaller keyboard, you should really consider getting this. Even if you don't like it, or it doesn't fully satisfy your needs, you will only have had spent $85. Really happy with this product.

This is a WinEXP machine, not for Win7, in spite of the other review. I downloaded the Win7 drivers, but they didn't work. This machine is new, but out-of-date. Buy the new keyboard designed for 64 bit op sys.Cost me $17 to return it.
