The Apple M1 chip redefines the 13-inch MacBook Pro. Featuring an 8-core CPU that flies through complex workflows in photography, coding, video editing, and more. Incredible 8-core GPU that crushes graphics-intensive tasks and enables super-smooth gaming. An advanced 16-core Neural Engine for more machine learning power in your favorite apps. Superfast unified memory for fluid performance. And the longest-ever battery life in a Mac at up to 20 hours.² It’s Apple's most popular pro notebook. Way more performance and way more pro.
Q: Is the M1 chip 16 GB RAM model available?
A: It is so strange that they do not offer this. People want 16 gb of ram before they need more SSD.
Q: Can I add RAM after buying it?
A: No. Memory (RAM) is not user upgradeable on the MacBook Pro.
A: Yes, Yes, and YES! For your first question, once you plug in your external DVD player, (this laptop doesn't have a DVD drive on the laptop body) the laptop should prompt you what you want to do. If not, 3rd party apps should work just fine. This laptop does run Monterey, but you might have to update it. It will be supported for a long time. For your third question, it has an applet pre-installed called "Rosetta 2." You cannot see the app in your applications folder, or launchpad, but basically, it allows you to run intel-based applications on the new M1 chip.
A: R and Rstudio work fine for me on the MacBook Pro with 8GB RAM for data analysis. Some Monte Carlo simulations take a while to run, but if I'm in a hurry, I will borrow a computer lab and give a bunch of computers a slice of the program to run. I don't use SPSS.
Q: Does the macbook include touchbar?
A: My MacBook Pro has a Touch Bar.
Q: Is this a new product? Not renewed?
A: Brand new right out the original box. I just purchased mine about month or so ago.
A: Please get a USB C to HDMI Adapter. It costs about eleven dollars on Amazon. Then you can display what you want to see on a large external monitor or TV.
Q: What is the weight? I don’t see it on the specs.
A: It is around 3 lbs
