Love the smooth warm sound of this Amp. Warm bass out front which I prefer. The tremble on some songs is pushed to the back. Love the pure analog nature of this amp. I purchased a Bluesound Node to stream music and it works well with this amp. I used with my Martin Logan Motion F10 speakers (20-250 watt power range). This amp had plenty of power for these speakers, but I wanted more so returned and purchased the Marantz Model 30. This amp brought down the house.

This amp replaces my old vintage 2285B, and there are light years of difference, in clarity, balance, and overall performance. It has a separate subwoofer channel that is dead-on in sync with my KEF speakers, (as opposed to the work-around needed for vintage models) and the overall separation (with a audiophile level stylus) is amazing. And it's not stingy with the bass as was the old vintage 2285B, so the overall sound is one of warmth, balance and above all clarity. I'm finding that vinyl is where the Model 50 can really shine in analog. The CD reproduction is also dead-on accurate. I use this model in a large studio apartment, and it has plenty of power, though I listen at fairly moderate levels. It's a fantastic amp, and would highly recommend it for those after a true warm analog sound in the Marantz tradition.

This amp is absolutely amazing. Warm sound, very powerful, this thing brings out the details in each song brilliantly whether playing vinyl or using a Cambridge MXN10 streamer. I cannot recommend this pure analog amplifier more.

I used a PM-8004 for years, and loved the incredibly clinical sound it provided. It also seemed to run any loudspeaker with ease. I can’t say the new Model 50 does the same. It’s a very good unit, but I don’t think (personally) it lives up to its predecessors. It’s warmer, less accurate, and definitely imparts some character…and also seems to lack headroom on a modest set of bookshelf speakers (6 ohms, 91db). It looks beautiful, and is well built, but I miss the mid range adjustment on my older model, and can’t say I’m in love with the sonic qualities this new one brings. TBD if I hang onto it, or move it through and make room for something else. I will say, the headphone output on mine has a slight buzz/hum, which I hope isn’t normal…but I find it annoying.
