They are my very first in-ear headphones and I'm in love, they're super soft and cushioned. I love the look of the length adjustment, the battery lasts forever and I have only charged them once since I bought them. As for the sound, they're in ear so at the highest volume people will hear what you're listening to if you're in a quiet room. However with the city noise, train and a loud environment, it doesn't go high enough to be heard. They fold really compact and not as delicate to break if you toss them in your bag or purse. Im super satisfied with them and even though I couldn't decide between these and the sony WHCH720N Im so glad I decided to get these but If noise canceling headphones is a must for you you might be interested in Sonys. Otherwise I highly recommend getting these headphones.

Really happy with these headphones. The sound is clear with solid bass, and the battery lasts a long time. I also love the stylish cream design and how easy they are to fold and carry. The only downside is they can feel a bit tight after wearing them for a few hours. Overall, a great buy!

The Marshall Major V delivers punchy, well-balanced sound with strong bass and clear vocals. The classic Marshall design looks premium, and the headphones feel durable. Battery life is excellent—easily lasts several days on one charge. They’re comfortable for everyday use, though the on-ear fit can feel a bit tight during long sessions. No active noise cancellation, but passive isolation is decent. Overall, a solid choice for style, sound, and long battery life.

It’s got great build quality, and it’s quite durable. I bought it referbed but it came with all the do dads and manual, and I didn’t find anythin wrong with it, had the matching QR code under the earcup and everythin; I will say the sound leaks a bit, but it’s not Bad as Open Backs, you can kinda just Notice Someone is playing music in their headphones, if it’s at max.

These headphones are great and very comfortable, I previously had their Major 3's and these are a nice improvement, longer battery life and they are not to tight on my ears unlike the previous version. Also I love that they have a usb-c connection now, no longer looking for an older usb wire to charge them

I absolutely love the classic Marshall look and the incredible battery life of these headphones. However, after wearing them for more than an hour, they start to feel quite tight on my ears. The sound is decent for rock music, but lacks the depth I expected for the price. Great for style, but maybe not for long listening sessions.

Been using these for over a month and I really can't think of much to complain about. I've mainly used them directly connected to my PC, and the few times I tried Bluetooth, I had no issues. If I had to name one thing, they initially leave your ears feeling a bit tender after extended use, but most on-ear headphones are like that. Additionally, if you're a REAL hardcore bass-junkie, these likely won't give you the skull-crushing experience you're looking for, which is mainly a positive, IMO. A good few headphones seem to be optimized for bass-heavy audio, leaving more layered, complex songs sounding a bit muddy. These have crystal-clear, well-balanced feedback. Good stuff.

Aesthetics - 5 star Comfort - 5 stars Sound - 4 stars Noise cancelling - 1 star (if this is your reason for buying, then this is not suitable for you) I bought them for the sole reason that I hate other headphones pulling on my hair, and they were perfect for that.

I have a Marshall Action 3 BT speaker and I absolutely love it.  When I found that they had new Headphones (Major V) with battery life of 100hrs, I couldn't wait to try them.  These headphones are 'on ear' (w/o noise cancelation) and weigh just 6.6oz (2-3oz less than my B*** and S*** over ear headphone [w/noise cancelation] both w/24h battery life).  They support Bluetooth LE Audio (w/BT 5.3) for improved sound quality and improved battery life. They also support Auracast which allows a BT stream to be sent to multiple devices simultaneously.  BT 5.3 and BT LE Audio have been hard to find in new devices.  The support of BT 5.3 includes AAC, SBC, and LC3 codec support.  The script M logo on the left earcup can be programmed to support multiple functions: activate Spotify Tap, toggle between the default EQ preset and a Custom EQ setting, launch your voice assistant, or do nothing. The gold stick-like controller on the right earcup is used for playback and calls: push it up/down to adjust the volume, or nudge it forward or backward to change tracks. This is a simple yet effective means to control the headphones.  The other new function these headphones have is they can be charged wirelessly.  The can also be wired with the included, detachable 3.5mm stereo cable (see photo).  The headphones are foldable and they include a short USB-C to USB-C charging cable (see photo). The Marshalls bass is quite deep for on ear headphone. It's midrange, is very tight and smooth.  And its highs are airy and crisp. The Major V headphones deliver a sound very similar to my Action 3 BT speaker. These Marshalls headphones do a fairly good job of blocking out local noise, but not great, without noise cancelation this is to be expected.  Their app contains a 5 band equalizer; it is pretty good.  But for years I've used the 'Equalizer Pro' app on my iPhone. It provides a sophisticated graphic/parametric equalizer.  Using this I could dial in a tone curve that is more to my liking (one I am familiar with).   How do they sound... I started listening to Boston's first album. More than a Feeling, sounded very airy, the headphones appeared to bounce the highs sounds effortlessly, creating a superb soundstage. Quite pleasant. The bass was very tight, complementing the rich highs. The mid's were rich and the vocals were elegant.  As Boston's Foreplay switched to Long Time, and the rhythm picked up, the headphones sounded very sweet, excellent to listen to, excellent sound details.  The bass of Smokin was superb.  I had the sound level set to 6 of 10 and these headphones are loud.  The headphones have a very even tone across all ranges, just what I wanted.  I then listened to some DSOTM, Money sounded amazing, the bass was excellent as well as mids and highs that were awesome.  US And Them had an excellent presence, the nuances of the girls' voices bounced from side to side, and the subtle voices in Brain Damage and Eclipse were crisp and forward.  Then listened to Peter Gabriel's So with a wired connection.  I'd not listened to this album for quite some time. The Red Rain vocals had an eerie realism.  Sledgehammer's bass was superb and Don't Give up had a great balance.  The whole album reminded me what a great voice Peter had. The wired connection was slightly better than the BT, but it was very close.  Clearly BT 5.3 with BT LE Audio, has improved BT's quality. All and all this is an excellent pair of headphones, the software they provide is so-so, but this is easily remedied.  I can't verify the 100 hr battery claim.  After listening for +3 hours the battery level went from a display level of 95 to 90.  The headphones' lighter weight is very nice.  The size of the headphones is highly adjustable.  Initially I thought they were a little tight, but after using them while moving around the house/outside they seemed fine and stayed in place.  Marshall has a winner here, unless you need noise cancelation (airplane travel) they perform above expectations.

The headphones also have impressive noise isolation, allowing me to enjoy my music without distractions from the outside world. Note that there is no active noise cancellation, which would have been a nice feature to have. The wireless performance of the Major V is top-notch. Pairing the headphones with my devices was a breeze, thanks to the seamless Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. The connection remains stable even when I'm a considerable distance away from my device. The battery life is outstanding, offering up to 100 hours of playback on a single charge. This means I can go several days without needing to recharge, which is perfect for me as I travel often. I found this claim of 100 hours of battery life to be true when the headphones were paired to my phone and I was mainly listening to music and podcasts and answering the occasional phone call. When I do need to recharge, the process is quick and convenient with the included USB-C cable and wireless charging capability. The Major V headphones come with some great additional features that enhance the overall user experience. The multi-directional control knob allows for easy navigation of tracks, volume adjustment, and phone call management. Speaking of calls, the built-in microphone delivers clear and crisp voice quality, making it a pleasure to use for hands-free conversations. I also appreciate the collapsible design, which makes these headphones easy to carry around in my bag when not in use. I was looking for a pair of comfortable headphones for traveling. I wanted long battery life, comfortable even on long flights, and great sound for movies and music. Also, I needed to be able to connect them to a variety of devices (phone, tablet, laptop). Also, I wanted to be able to connect to multiple devices simultaneously. I selected these headphones mainly because of the advertised battery life and the reputation of the Marshall brand. While these headphones certainly deliver on the long battery life and comfort, the sound out-of-the-box was too much bass for me. Luckily, these have the option to create a custom equalizer and I was able to get the sound where I liked it. I will be taking these on long international flights, so comfort, battery life, and sound are very important. They are also very compact in size when folded. Sound Quality: On a scale of 1-10, I would rate the sound quality at an 8 (with my custom EQ settings). I think the Marshall signature sound was just too much bass, especially for watching movies. With my EQ settings I boosted the mids moderately and highs significantly. These settings were perfect for the movies I watched and the music I listened to with these headphones. I was able to hear the voices clearly and still hear (and feel) the rumble of an action movie. In addition, listening to music was a joy whether I was listening to Rush's "Moving Pictures" or Antonio Vivaldi's "Concerto for Two Mandolins." Lastly, the sound quality from the Mics are excellent. When I was using them for a phone call, the people I talked to said they could hear me perfectly. On the downside, there are only 2 EQ settings and the Marshall signature sound EQ settings are not adjustable. So, you only have 1 EQ setting to customize for your sound preferences. Also, these headphones don't have ANC, but the padding is very thick and soft and you do get a pretty quiet environment. Battery Life: As I mentioned earlier, the battery life is astounding. I have used these for 5 days now (3-5 hours each day) and the battery level is still above 80%. Having the wireless charging is also a great bonus. I like that I can set these on top my wireless charger and they quickly recharge (3 hours for full charge or 15 minutes for 15 hours). Comfort: I thought the comfort on these are the best of all the headphones that I've had. I could easily adjust these so they fit perfectly with the speakers centered outside my ear and I couldn't hear someone sitting next to me talking. Even after listening to them for 2-3 hours, these headphones were still comfortable and I would even forget they were on. Constructions and Media Controls: The construction of these headphones is exceptional. The material is a thick, heavy material that should last a long time. These headphones also have the typical controls from the "M" button to control your attached devices. The controls worked easily and clearly and with each key press you get a Marshall guitar sound in response. Summary: These aren't perfect headphones, but I feel for the price these are very good headphones. I wish Marshall had included Dolby Atmos in the headphones and allowed for more custom EQ settings. I would also certainly recommend them and I am very happy I got them. These will get many hours of use and are perfect for my long flights and being able to enjoy my music and movies with the sound I like away from my home theater system.

I wear glasses, so I’ve always had comfort issues with over the ear headphones, and most on ear headphones don’t stay in place. These are the lightest (advertised weight 0.41 pounds) most secure fitting on hear headphones I’ve ever used. In fact, I wore them for almost 6 hours straight yesterday, and I almost forgot I had them on. As you can see from the included pictures, they fold for easy storage or travelling and use a standard USB-C cord to charge, or they are capable of wireless charging. The stated battery life is 100 hours, and they have a fast charge feature. They connect via Bluetooth LE with a 33’ steaming range, and you can also use them with the included 3.5 mm audio cord. The design of this headset is great, and I think the biggest improvement over others is the multi-function toggle button. Between it and one other dedicated function button, there is no more fumbling around to find the right control. There is a dedicated button that can be set to control either Spotify, the Equaliser, Voice Assistant or be programmed for no action. The Equaliser is pre-programmed for “The original Marshall Sound” and there’s a 2nd option that can utilize the following presets Mid Reduction, Marshall, Custom, Bass Boost, Mid Boost or Treble Boost. Battery saving options include being able to set the Standby Timeout when not playing or when not connected, but the headphones won’t turn off if connected to the audio cable. The sound quality is fantastic whether the volume is low or high and whether you’re listening to music, audio books or podcasts.

Quick Overview ================================= Marshall has a history in audio - from guitar amps and, more recently, speakers and headphones. I've heard nothing but good things about their modern BT speakers and headphones, but haven't gotten around to trying them... Until now! These Marshall Major V on-hear headphones are their newest iteration of on-ear headphones that are known for durable build-quality and classic sound. Full disclosure: I have protuberant ears and I never choose on-ear headphones (preferring IEMs or over-ear) for my own use. Overall build ================================= Opening the box, I was pleased to see these folded up compactly with the earpieces folded inwards into the headband. This compact mode is perfect for travel and hopefully means they're built to last after some flexing and packing. They have the signature Marshall look with black leather-looking pads and metal arms for holding each earpad. On the right side, you'll see a USB-C charging port, a multi-functional 3.5mm jack, a gold joystick lever and a mesh opening for a mic. On the left side there's a dedicated "M" button that can be customized via the app. In the box you'll get a USB-C charging cable and a coiled 3.5mm cable which is a nice touch and completes the aesthetic. It's too bad there isn't a pouch at the very least... Once you get them out of the box, push in and hold the gold joystick until you see the blinking blue light, pair it to your mobile device of choice, and you're off to the races. Installing the Marshall app is optional, but it does give you useful things like firmware updates, customizable EQ, battery saving modes, and customization options for the "M" button. Performance ================================= I was eager to try these but hesitant since I never pick on-ear headphones when given a chance. They were light, clamped just enough to stay on, and were very comfortable to my ears. I was pleasantly surprised! Listening to some Spotify, I was also impressed that these 40mm drivers with BT 5.3 could produce some balanced sound and decent bass! You'll get AAC, SBC or LC3 and BT LE, but no "HQ" codecs like AptX or LDAC. BT multipoint is present, thankfully. I installed the Marshall app to upgrade the firmware (just a few minutes) and customize some settings. The battery saver lets you choose how much battery saving capability you'd like including stopping or slowing charging, and powering off when idle at certain time thresholds. The "M" button was already set for Spotify, but it could have been changed to an EQ mode or voice assistant. Lastly, I configured a custom EQ to go along with the Marshall "house sound". Listening to Spotify, I was very impressed by the quality of these small headphones! I usually listen to IEMs or on-ear headphones from audiophile-level to high-end gaming/computer headphones and I must say, I was very pleased that I wasn't missing a beat with these Marshall Major Vs! Even though there's no ANC, the passive noise-cancelling due to a good fit was enough to muffle some nearby noisemakers. I can't say these would do well on an airplane, but in the home, there was no issue. I love the little gold-plated joystick! Push in to play/pause, up/down controls the volume, and right left covers your track forward/backward navigation. Very intuitive and it works better than I thought it would for a small control stick. I was also pleasantly surprised by the mic as test calls to my friends and family were non-events. I sounded clear without excessive background noise. The 3.5mm jack on the right headphone is innovative. Not only can you plug into an audio source and listen in wired mode, you can actually plug in another set of IEMs or headphones and have someone listen in with you! I tested these with a family member and I could see this being useful on a plane or perhaps for passengers on a long car ride that are watching or listening to the same thing. Very cool, Marshall! Lastly, these Major Vs are majorly convenient since they can charge wirelessly! Just balance them so the right earcup can sit on a wireless charging pad and you'll be topped off in no time! Speaking of the battery, these are rated to go 100 hours between charges and I didn't have the stamina to keep up! I did use them for more than 8 hours through the course of a day and barely used 10% of the battery so depending on volume level and other factors, I think it's pretty realistic. There should be no battery anxiety here. Conclusion ================================= Audio and fit of headphones can be really subjective and personal. Different head sizes and opinions will always come into play, but I'll say it again: I'm pleasantly surprised by the comfort, fit, and sound quality of these Marshall Major Vs! I never consider on-ear headphones and now I'm using these often for a quick listen (they're easy to slip on and off) and some handheld gaming on my Asus ROG Ally. If you like on-ear headphones and long battery life, these are a must-try!

Overall: The Marshall Major V on-ear headphones are a decent choice for people who want high-quality sound and a comfortable fit. They also have a long battery life and support wireless charging. Now don’t get me wrong, I really like these headphones as they sound great and fold away really well, however, they are expensive and lack active noise cancellation. In the crowded headphone space, there are quite a few less expensive alternatives with more features and active noise-cancellation that I would recommend before these. Unless you really need 100 hours of battery life or love the Marshall retro style, portability, and sound like I do, then I would look at those first. Sound Quality: The Marshall Major V headphones deliver excellent sound quality. The bass is deep and punchy, the mids are clear and detailed, and the highs are crisp and sparkly. You can also adjust the equalizer via the Marshall phone app and even bind it to the M Button on the headphones. The headphones also have a wide sound stage, which makes them great for listening to music, watching movies or listening to audiobooks. My biggest gripe with these headphones is the lack of active noise cancellation, or ANC. These headphones don’t come with any noise-cancelling features, other than the passive noise-cancelling that comes with wearing them over your ears. ANC isn’t always needed, but it’s a nice option to have and with the price of these headphones, it should be an included feature. Sound leakage is also a big problem with these headphones. At any volume above halfway, other people will be able to hear what you’re listening to quite clearly. This might not be an issue for many, but people wanting to use these in a quiet office space might get some looks and complaints. Connectivity: The Major Vs come with both Bluetooth 5.3 and Bluetooth LE and support SBC, AAC and LC3 codecs. Bluetooth LE is great as it future-proofs these headphones and allows for future Auracast support. Also, the addition of AAC support is something Marshall had been missing in the past and is fantastic for those with Apple iPhones as it’s definitely a step above SBC. Moreover, in case your battery dies, you can always hook the headphones up via the 3.5MM cable that’s included. Comfort: The Marshall Major V headphones are very comfortable to wear, even on my big head. They have a soft, padded headband and cushioned, leatherette ear cups that conform to the shape of your head. The headphones are also relatively lightweight, so you can wear them for hours without any discomfort. Battery Life: The Marshall Major V headphones have a long battery life of up to 100 hours. This is enough to get you through even the longest flights or road trips. The headphones also support wireless charging, so you can easily charge them without having to plug them in. USB-C charging is also an option, of course. Battery preservation mode is also quite nice, allowing you to adjust how quickly and how much your headphones will charge to in order to preserve their long term battery life. Design: The Marshall Major V headphones have a stylish, retro design. The black, matte finish is welcomed in a world of shiny things. Unfortunately, unlike other pairs of Marshall headphones I’ve had in the past, this one did not include a carrying case or bag of any sort, which is a huge letdown. I received my retro looking Marshall headphones and I must say this is the first pair of this brand I've owned. Was excited to give them a try! Upon opening you'll find the folded headphones, a 3.5mm headphone cable with coiled middle section to use wired and a short USB-C to USB-C charging cable. You will need to provide your own charger and if you have a wireless charging pad these headphones will support that. Also included is a short manual. I charged them to 100% as they claim it should last for up to 100 hours of playback. After using them for 3 days I am finding the battery life is really fantastic. I used the manual and followed instructions. First I turned the Major V's on and connected to my iPhone Bluetooth which they did immediately and without issue. I then installed the app and there was an immediate update which I installed to firmware 6.4.4. This app is so convenient! You will find an EQ option in which you can select a preset or custom to create your own settings. I fussed around with them but honestly right out of the box with no adjusting I found these to sound perfect for my personal listening pleasure. The Equaliser also has Marshall Setting 1 and Marshall Setting 2. It's all a matter of what sounds best to your ears. There is also an app setting to prolong the battery life span by choosing the max charge to be 90%. I set the Battery Preservation to Medium but you can pick from None ~ Standard ~ Medium ~ High. There is an M-Button on one ear cup and by pressing it takes you to the Spotify Tap, Equaliser, Voice Assistant or Do Nothing when using the app. There are other nice app options as well. The other ear cup has a small brass button that will allow you to control everything out of the box without using the app. You simply hold in the button for one second and it will power the headphones off or on. The booklet that comes with them illustrates what you can do with this button. An excellent feature in my opinion! I proceeded to play everything from classical music to rock and the headphones handled all well. The calling feature was okay but I prefer my small buds on phone calls as headphones seem somewhat bulky to me although the sound quality was fine ~ voices clear both to myself and the caller. These are very light to wear and the cups are nice and softly padded. I can wear them for long hours without pain. Your ears might get a little warm but this is common for most headphones of this style. The sound on these is really clean ~ just the best! I enjoyed everything I threw at them to hear ~ from my TV to a karaoke website and all in between. I had no issues with annoying noise or dull sounds. The bass, treble and mids were spot on perfect, especially being adjustable with the app. It does not offer ANC but that is not an issue for me as I rarely use that feature on any of my earbuds or headphones. I really love these Marshall headphones and am ever so pleased! The construction quality is top notch all around. I adore the way they look as well ~ that retro square ear cup styling is marvelous! The one thing missing is a case or carrying bag which was a surprise but as I don't plan on traveling with them it's not a deal breaker for me. They are totally awesome and I highly recommend their purchase! You will not be disappointed ~ I sure wasn't!

To start off, I've had quite a bit of different types and styles of headphones over the past 20~ years. Open back, Closed back, On ear, Studio monitors.. you name it. I'm not exactly a newbie, but I also haven't really adopted to newer technology that focuses on wireless or battery outside of the general "gaming headset". When the Marshall's Major V's came up, I was very interested in the claims of "100 hours" of battery life. Sure seems like an impressive spec considering most competitors fall into a 20-30 hour range on a single charge. I was also interested in these since they support wireless charging on the right side cup. A rather unique features as competitors need special accessories to achieve this. GENERAL THOUGHTS: Unboxing the Major V's, they seem decently built. I wouldn't say its the best, but it's also not flimsy enough to where you would be scared to break it. Comfort seems okay, but they do subjectively build pressure on my head. The headphones themselves come folded. Accessories include: 1x USB-C to USB-C cable and 1x 3.5mm to 3.5mm semi coiled cable. Pretty forward setting them up with BT as instructed by manual. You might need to firmware update these right away after downloading the application. There's a TX/RX Bluetooth communication from your phone. This also works with PC.. so the BT connection to PC will share the settings tab from phone. PROS: -The claims of 100 hours of battery are legit. I'm 3 days in and the headphones only really dropped 5% with daily use on my initial FIRST charge. -Wireless charging is very practical, especially with an apple style mag safe adapter. Left them on for an hour and it was 100% from the factory charge. -Controls are very well designed and thought out.. Everything you can think of, the dial can do. The second "M-button" control can be set to change EQ profile, Spotify tap integration, and voice assist. (One bind at a time.) -The headphones themselves are hyper portable. They fold up easily, are small and more like a intermediary between using over the ear headphones and In ear monitors aka "earbuds". -Decent mid range sound clarity. CONS: -I subjectively don't like the default sound tuning or "flat" marshal profile. It's not terrible, but there are better options out there. You can EQ them in the phone app and they will sound a bit better, but if having the best sounding headphones is your goal, I would generally look elsewhere. -As I mentioned earlier, They do start to put a bit of pressure on my head for long term sessions, but this is very subjective.. Both my "cons" are personal to me. OVERALL: I can definitely recommend these if your intended purpose is having best in class battery life and ease of charging. I really don't know of any other wireless headphone that could compete with these in that category. It's VERY impressive. On the flip side, I haven't spent enough time to really confirm the full 100 hour, but that would take a few weeks at my current rate listening rate. I'm sure they're capable since the previous Major IV version was spec'd at 80 hour. Sound quality? (subjective).. Definitely could be improve but its not bad either.. just not my taste. I feel Marshall Group could be more aggressive with these. Solid 4/5.

The Marshall brand is synonymous with quality audio, so obviously a product like the Major V Wireless On-Ear Headphones will come with pretty high expectations. With that said, at the price point, the Marshall Major V Wireless headphones are a solid choice for someone looking for decent headphones without breaking the bank. While the Marshall name is known for quality audio, it's also known for a stylish, classic look, and with the Major Vs bring the style in abundance. The outside of the headsets and the band carry the turtle shell look with "Marshall" written in it's standard font. The one gold button and white font print stand out against the all black headset. While the ear cushions look small compared to some other headphones, they cover my relatively big ears completely. Cover is key, as they don't enclose my ears. Still, at this price point, they are super comfy, so long play sessions don't get annoying. Audio on these headphones is great. With the standard settings (there's an "equaliser" you can access via the Marshall app) these cans are pretty bassy without the bass distracting from the overall sound. No, they don't have the same crisp kick of some of those $500+ headphones, but at this price point, you definitely feel it and the highs still come through clear. My complaints on these headphones are relatively small. With the extra pillowey ear cushions with the leatheresque cover, I wouldn't want to wear these for an extended period in a hot/humid place as I'd hate to see what happen with sweat. With no noise cancellation/noise isolation, the volume isn't as loud as I'd prefer. That may just be a preference of mine, but it's a small knock on an overall awesome set of headphones. Add in 100 hour battery life, and the Marshall Major V Wireless On-Ear Headphones are great headphones with very few gripes to be mentioned. Add in the price point and recommending these to someone looking to spend over $200 is no brainer.

I’ve been using the Marshall Major V for a few weeks now, and I’m really impressed. The sound quality is classic Marshall — rich bass, clear vocals, and crisp highs. Music feels full and detailed, whether it’s rock, pop, or acoustic. The battery life is insane — I’ve gone days without charging. They claim around 100+ hours, and it honestly feels close to that. The Bluetooth connection is super stable too, no dropouts. Comfort-wise, they fit snugly but not too tight. The ear cushions are soft, and the foldable design makes them easy to carry around. I also love the retro look — that old-school Marshall vibe never gets old.

I wouldn’t call myself an audiophile, but I do have preferences on using different headsets for certain situations. A good pair of over the ear headphones for hours of gaming while a pair of active noise cancelling headphones for working out and taking calls from the mobile. I’ve recently picked up an on-ear headset for work calls and found that I really enjoyed it. I wanted a more casual pair that would travel well and saw that Marshell was releasing an updated version of the Major line. So, I decided to give the Major V a try! Pros: - Lightweight and Solid build quality. - 100 hours of Battery Life, Quick Charge, and Wireless Charging. - Rich sound after some tweaks. Cons: - Default EQ settings need tweaks for the best experience. - Can only save 1 Custom EQ setting. Look and Feel: The Major V looks and feels like a premium product right out of the box. The build quality is solid, the materials feel durable and tough enough for your daily use. I’m pretty sure the Major V will survive a drop without cracking or breaking, which is more than I can say for my other headsets beyond the ear buds. It took me a few times to wear the headset before I found my perfect fit, and I still must adjust it from use to use but have gotten used to the feel. The headband is very flexible but has enough tension to keep the ear cups in place on your head even when you’re moving around. The most shocking part was how lightweight this headset is, at under a half pound the headset does not weigh on the head even after a long duration of use. The biggest impact to the level of comfortability will really depend on personnel preference as the only way to adjust the amount of pressure applied is adjusting the size of the band by sliding the ear cups up or down, which will depend on your head shape and size. The ear cups are designed to fold up into the band for travel and storage, which makes the headset easy to pack into a bag or backpack without worrying about damaging them. These are perfect for on the go or traveling. One of the concerns I always have with On-Ear headphones is how they feel after extended use, but every time I’m proven to have worried for no reason. Even after using for 5 hours straight, the ear cushions were comfortable resting on my ears with no discomfort. Connecting: The Major V was easy to pair with my device, just push and hold the main button until you hear the tone and add the Major V from your devices list of nearby Bluetooth devices. On Android, after connecting to the headset a popup directed me to the play store to install the Marshall Bluetooth app which was a nice touch. On opening the App I was prompted to create an account and update the firmware on the headset. After the update, I was able to access a list of settings: Equaliser (EQ), Button Customization, Sound Prompts, and power settings to help extend the battery life. The App is straightforward to use, with the main feature being the EQ settings. You will want to play around with the settings to tweak the sound to your preference and use, as the default settings are flat which leaves the Major V having a much heavier bass sound compared to the average headset. I was able to connect with multiple devices without issue, even to a desktop PC that had Bluetooth. The included headphone cable was also useful to connect to older devices or just to not have to worry about the wireless settings. Power: Marshell included only 2 buttons and a USB-C port on the Major V, but one of the buttons is a control knob that’s more like a joystick with multiple directions that have different functions. It takes a bit to remember all the commands, but the basics of play, volume control, skip are intuitive by design. Battery Life on the Major V’s is amazing with 100 hours of play! I couldn’t believe it at first, but after about 5 days of lite use between 3-5 hours, the charge is still sitting around 80%. Plus, with Quick Charge the Major V can charge up to 15 hours of charge in 15mins. Add wireless charging to the list of charging features, and Marshall really loaded up the Major V for always being ready to go! Performance: I’ll say it right away, you will want to adjust the EQ settings to get the most out of the Major V. The default settings, and even the other profiles don’t really fit to any specific audio profile. Just a focus on one sound range which is rather simplistic. Unfortunately, you can only save 1 custom EQ profile so hopefully you can make do with the flat Marshall and 1 Custom profile. On the default settings, I would say the audio quality was only okay at 2.5 out of 5. But, once I tweaked the EQ settings to my preferences manually, I would give them 4.5 out of 5. One of the major benefits is situational awareness, on-ear allows for surrounding sounds to still pass in while listening to music. Conclusion: Overall, I’m really enjoying using the Major V due to the comfortable fit, custom sound profile and battery life. This headset was made to be ready to go and used daily. But the On-Ear design is a personnel preference, and I would recommend trying a pair on before picking them up to see if you can find a comfortable and good fit. Hopefully some updates do come for the App to allow more custom profiles for EQ in the future. For now, I’ll be adding the Major V to growing list of audio devices used on a regular basis.
