Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 for the Xbox Series X is a bittersweet package for fans of the franchise. On the upside, getting MGS1, MGS2, MGS3 (Snake Eater), plus several spin-offs on a single modern platform is incredibly convenient, and the core gameplay of these classics still holds up remarkably well. Snake Eater's jungle stealth and boss battles remain thrilling, and the cutscenes for MGS1 and MGS2 still deliver cinematic punch decades later. However, the collection falls short of what fans hoped for—it's essentially emulation with quality-of-life tweaks rather than true remasters, and you can feel the age in the graphics and controls. The menu system is barebones compared to other collections, and some of the older entries lack accessibility options that would make them more welcoming to newcomers. Most disappointing is that MGS3 Delta (the full remake) isn't included—fans got teased with trailers but ended up with only the original game instead. At this price point, hardcore fans will appreciate having everything accessible in one place, but casual gamers may find it hard to justify without true visual overhaul or more substantial enhancements. It's worth it if you're a die-hard Hideo Kojima fan nostalgic for the PS2 era, but newcomers should try before buying—some of these games demand patience that modern audiences may not have.

Excellent release of this first volume collection of the Metal Gear Solid series. The presentation and menus are clean and top notch. I’ve so far completed all the games except for MGS3 Snake Eater I just recently started. I’ve experienced no issues playing it on my Series X. Highly recommend to any fan of the series. Looking forward to Volume 2 whenever that is announced.

Revive snake is personally the best, the best game of tactics and espionage, highly recommended.

Really fun and great for the price! If you're thinking about getting its worth it, it also comes with a good amount of bonus content aside from the 3 main games advertised

If you love the solid of snakes this collection is a must have! Never thought id get to play MGS1 on my Xbox with this collection a small piece of my childhood is reawakened. Great to have the one of the all time great games in my Xbox collection now as opposed to my dusty PS5.

A fantastic bundle of legendary games. The ports are pretty solid and definitely worth picking up if you’re interested

Classic re done and it holds up “mostly” ok to today’s games. The game shows it age for sure, still fun though all these years later.

The way the game creates multiple launchers for the games is unnecessary and a little confusing at first. Still, it’s nice to play the old games again.

Played through the three Metal Gear Solid games for the first time and had a blast! Went on to play MGS4 and MGS5 afterwards. Only issue i had was the poor audio in MGS3. Always sounded baked and loud for whatever reason. 9/10 experience!

I loved playing all of these games, though the ports aren’t the best and it sorta feels like a cash grab. If you don’t have the older consoles though I would just play this though

The Metal Gear Franchise is one of the best which I feel has been forgotten with time and age. This feels like an amazing collection that hopefully many people are playing metal gear for the first time now.
