- Description: Banded in 2009, 3 brothers, 1 sister, an uncle, a cousin, and a Cuban American brother in the Lord set out on a rock and worshipping adventure to relight and fan the flames of the Holy Spirit in believers hearts through music and worshipping Jesus. The Michael Maher Band's first concert was opening up for Jeremy Horn in Flint, MI. Since then the Michael Maher Band has opened up for major Christian Artists including Britt Nichole, Mark Schultz, Paul Colman, Building 429, MikesChair, Kari Jobe and Jason Upton. In 2010, the Michael Maher Band was Michigan's Big Ticket Festival Indie Stage Battle of the Band's Winner. They returned two additional years to the Big Ticket Festival to lead/play on the Worship Stage. The Band's lead singer, Michael Maher, who is also the songwriter of the group, was the worship leader of Oakland Church in Oakland Twp, MI for four years. He has led worship in eight countries, in nearly 100 churches. So far in the United States, his band has accompanied him at dozens of youth groups, Sunday Morning and Wednesday Night Worship gatherings, kid's and teen's camps and special church worship and/or entertainment events. One time they sold out their own show in the Venue in Flint, MI! They have released one album on iTunes entitled 'Melodies of War.' Their second album 'Hallelu Yah An Exclamation of Praise' will be released Spring, 2014. About the songs (a note from Michael Maher) Since 2012 a steady stream of God-ward songs have been dropping from heaven into my heart, so I figured this 2014 album should be a worship album! Around the Fur the follow-up to Deftones' passionate, aggressive Adrenaline, sees the California quartet expanding on the sheer rage of their earlier work, adding new, more sinister shades to their already extreme sound. The opening InchMy Own Summer (Shove It),Inch serves as an introduction to the album's sonic theme sinewy guitars and eerie whispers alternate with fast, violent crunch. Sepultura's Max Cavallero contributes guitar and vocals to InchHeadup,Inch while InchMXInch finds singer Chino trading off vocal lines with Annalynn Cunningham, (wife of Deftones' drummer Abe) in an acerbic take on the rock star mentality. Vocal acrobat Moreno attacks a variety of styles his breathy, psychotic recitations sound downright industrial, while the album's calmer, more brooding moments show his gift for haunting melody. Behind him, guitarist Stephen Carpenter's heavy wall of sound is astoundingly muscular, yet inspiringly agile. When Deftones' hellish fury hits full tilt, as it always does on this album, Moreno's voice erupts into screams which are best described as otherworldly, transforming this intense musical firestorm into a hurtling juggernaut of aggression.
