I absolutely love my new Surface! It's sleek and functional. I owned the original surface and I really enjoyed how light and transportable it was, but when I saw the Surface Book 2-in-1 and I had o have it. This 2-in-1 is a serious upgrade to what I was working with and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a light, compact and user friendly laptop/tablet.

The feel and functionality of a laptop and the convenience of a tablet. Albeit, it is a little heavy as a tablet the screen size is more than adequate. 8GB of RAM runs Photoshop like a dream. The i5 processor is faster than most laptops. The 3000 x 2000 screen resolution makes photographs practically come to life. The extended battery life makes carrying a charger nearly optional. Love it!

I just switched from using an Apple computer to Windows. My Microsoft Surface Book is great. I love the touch control feature and it is pretty easy to understand. Another great feature is the ability to remove the screen and use it as a tablet.

High resolution screen is great, so is the backlit keyboard. Another good feature is two USB 3.0 ports. The tablet I previously used only had one, which made me carry a multi-port adapter when traveling. I like the detachable screen, and the fact the keyboard is not sold separately. The Surfacebook will go with me on a cruise later this year

I finally picked up a Microsoft Surface Book after I realized the Samsung Galaxy Tab pro wouldn't work for me. Okay, so let's see. Pro's; Fit & Finish, Check, Sexy Looks, Check, Performance, Check, Battery Life, Check. Cons; Price "I think they are a bit to spendy I had how it slides across the table. The feet just slide. "I know it's petty" Okay I love the typing experience, the track pad is as good as anything I've used. The battery life is better than expected. I have mine covered in a skin "Black Carbon Fiber" and a tempered glass screen protector.

Microsoft really got it right with this one. I still haven't learned how to get the most out of its capabilities yet, however I am so in love. Adobe CS6 is so small on here but I know that once I learn how to work it this will turn out to be a quite sizable investment...

Love this laptop! Great for photo editing and drawing!

I intended on purchasing an Acer 2-in-1 when I walked into the store but was informed by the salesman that they had one Surface Book in-stock. It was the base model with a I5, 128GB SSD, Intel HD520 and 8GB Memory. After seeing the device I decided to purchase on the spot. Have been using daily for about 2 weeks now. System is fast with strong battery life. Gets about 8-10 hours when the display is attached to the keyboard. I only utilize tablet mode less than 10% of the time but it is a good overall experience. Easy to use and Windows 10 adapts nicely for touch only. The pen is well designed and writing is smooth and accurate as well. PROS: Other positives off the top of my head are the keyboard (has nice travel and touch) and overall build quality is excellent. Device feels premium and solidly assembled. Boot up time is super fast taking seconds and performance is also decent. The display also has an insanely nice image and crystal clear. After viewing for a while when I switch to my desktop or main notebook the screens pixels stand out like a sore thumb. CONS: Not everything is perfect and since this is a first generation device might be addressed in the next version(s). Limited ports 2 x USB, 1 Mini Displayport and an SD Card Reader. The base is so thin that only USB cables can really be used. Most USB Flash Drives I have tried to use are a little too large and hit the surface under the keyboard. 128GB SSD is a little small but workable. Have been able to install Office and my core programs (Photoshop, Dreamweaver) and some code editors and still have about 70GB of space left for documents and project files. Text can be trying at times depending on the program etc. Due to the insanely high pixel ratio 3000x2000 some programs font sizes are just way too small. The general text overall is slightly small but with good eyesight most people should be able to read. Adjusting the text sizes isn't perfect yet across the board so the default settings appear best. The most annoying item about the device is detaching the tablet at this point. There is a button and Windows icon for detaching the display from the base. When you click it - takes about a second to release itself - at which point you have to pull it off manually. Pulling the display off from the base takes some practice and the device really needs to be in the right position or it feels like you are fighting it a bit. This feature could definitely use some tweaking. Would purchase the item again although a little pricey. Be nice to see them get this built for a little less when they release Version 2.

I have two Mac Pros (one personal and one from work). I actually bought this as a gift for my wife and I am super jealous. Though it's only i5 and 8G of RAM, but it's very very good. Performance has been good. Touch is good, but Pen is excellent. Using one note has not been this fun. Battery life has been a good 8-9 hours with Spotify/Word/Pdf and few other minor tasks continuously running.

Very lightweight, easy to pop off screen for a nice tablet. I love having touchscreen. Very fast loading and processing. Can handle multitasking without a problem. Battery life is good, though not a problem for me, I am usually near electric. Great graphics. Back-lit keyboard is a must, I was surprised it is included. Very sturdy even when in tablet mode. Have not used the pen much as yet but is a good addition. Of course it is pricy, you get what you pay for. Microsoft has done a good job with this machine. I waited, researched, checked it out and finally made this purchase. I am fully satisfied.

This laptop is really a good investment. Light weight, with great screen (colors, resolution, size), very practical and useful pen. The pen can be used for drawing, writing etc. with great results. The battery lasts for more than seven hours with moderate intensity work (no gaming). The tablet mode is very convenient and detaching and attaching back to the keyboard is very easy and trouble-free. Very quiet during normal work although can get a bit noisy when pushed. Also can get pretty warm at certain areas. The price a somewhat high but at the same time you get what your are paying for. Would have been nice to have the option to buy a separate stand where to place the screen and work with a detached keyboard.

I have purchased Dell, HP, and now the Surface. I am amased how much the surface can perform. I love the touch screen and pen for ease of use. It is portable and has battery life of 17 hrs. I would recommend for any use - especially creative minds.

Pros: + Versatile: Can use it anywhere comfortably as a tablet or a laptop. + Light: It really is. + Fast: Startup never took more than 20 seconds with Windows Hello on. + Display: Gorgeous 3000x2000 resolution for my movies, shows and games, + Battery: Lowest I've had is 4 hours and 30 minutes. That's plenty! + Touch Screen and Pen: Smooth and responsive. The best I've had. + Interface: The keyboard is well aligned and the touchpad is placed well. + Cameras: Sharp. + Sound.

First things first... if you just want a laptop there's definitely cheaper options. However, if you want the latest and greatest, this takes the cake for me. I'm a web and software developer and absolutely love this thing. I went with the base level $1,500 option. The surface pen is responsive and feels like writing with a real pen. No more printing/scanning documents for signatures or quick notes; simply write it right on there. The tablet mode enables me to walk around the office a bit or simply walk into a meeting with just the tablet and have all my documents/presentations/projects ready to go. Afterwards, just pop that baby back on the keyboard and keep going - no need for flash drives or multiple devices. Also, I have the surface dock so simply setting this back on the keyboard enables me to use 2 external monitors, a full size keyboard and mouse. My usual programs I have open are a text editor, Google Chrome with a jillon tabs open, Adobe Photoshop, Skype, and a some others here and there. I have experienced no performance issues with this usage, in fact it's very very fast. The sound quality is actually really good for a tablet, easily fills up my office. Also, the keyboard really is amazing. The whole reason I bought this thing over the Yoga 900 was the Surface Book's superior keyboard You have to pony up the dough for this, and I can definitely see the argument being made that it's overpriced. However, I have 0 complains and absolutely love it. I've owned several computers over the past 5 years and this one takes the cake.

Based on the reviews about how good the ipad PRO pencil was I walked into BEST BUY to buy an IPAD Pro. After seeing the IPAD PRO it just looked like a giant IPAD with better graphics with a huge price tag. The pen $99 and key board &165 did not come with it & the pencil which is just a thin, plastic thing, with no eraser, and no place to store it was out of stock. Then, I tried the Microsoft Surface Pro 4. The pen on it worked great. 1000% improvement over the pen on the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 & it came with a pen, but no key board $100 + extra and the size but the screen was too small. Then, I suddenly remembered reading about the Microsoft Book which was not on display. I received a $100 off coupon when I traded in my Microsoft surface pro 2 in addition to a few hundred dollars from the trade in. I found the Microsoft surface Book to be perfect with a large screen and attached, sturdy key board that can detach from the screen turning it into a tablet. The pen attaches with a magnet to the side, It felt solid, with some weight and a strong grip with an eraser. The pressure sensitivity on it was spot on. This meets my needs when I need to travel for a lap top. This runs all of my adobe products and Microsoft office. There are just so many more programs and uses for the pen on Microsoft book then there is for iPad Pro. Plus you can just attach it to a printer. Now that I own a Microsoft Book I can't even consider an IPAD pro. Make sure you try the Microsoft Book, Mircorsoft surface pro 4 and the IPAD pro and the pens out before you make a decision. The Microsoft Book is absolutely perfect and fun.

Surface book is perfect for business and travel. It is ultra thin and light, portable and easy to use. The touch screen glass is smooth and allows you finger to glide easily. Screen resolution is amazing and i love the pen. I bought an ipad air for work but programs are limited anot compatible. With microsoft surface book, i had no problem.

This computer/ laptop/ Tablet is perfect for my school studies. This goes with me everywhere its lightweight, slim, and classy design is perfect for traveling to and from class. I ABSOLUTLY LOVE the touch screen capability and that I am able to move, adjust, and flip the screen for different note taking modes. The touch screen capability also allows me to use the screen as a tablet to read articles and books with ease. I am also able to lock my screen in place so that the screen does not rotate. To say the least this computer is top quality and has several amazing features.

Great for College student, extremely versatile, lightweight but sturdy. Better than expected. Love the stylus that's included. Battery life awesome. Very unique well made machine. It is real fast and smooth. Screen adapts to the ambient lighting well and the extreme resolution is great. Wish the hinge would close completely flat.

OMG why did I wait so long to get a new computer? That's the question I ask myself daily as I use my new Microsoft Book! The Book is so easy to use; I love the touch screen; the speed is beyond belief; and, traveling was never easier. One of the smartest things I bought to go with my Book (while traveling) is the Microsoft Surface Arc Touch Mouse. Check it out if you haven't seen it already! :-)

I got this after trying a gaming laptop which turned out to be way too bulky, heavy, loud and hot to set on my lap for any amount of time. The Surface Book is the perfect combination of power, features, and portability for me. I love the interface, and the touchscreen is a lot more useful than I had expected. I find that I don't need a mouse the majority of the time because I prefer to use the touchscreen. I was a little bit worried that the Surface Book would not be powerful enough (I'm trying my hand at Android development), but it has actually ran the development studio better than the more powerful gaming laptop that I had before. I love this laptop!
