This $399 base model Surface Go 3 is MUCH faster than its predecessors, thanks to the new Pentium Gold processor in it this year, which processor some reviewers have compared to the Core m3 in the original Surface Go and in the Go 2. Rumor has it that new upgraded Core i3 in the top end Go 3 is a battery hog, but this might be fixed in future software updates to Windows 11 (my Pentium Gold version does fine with 80% brightness, streaming Netflix or Prime or YouTube). My entry level Chromebooks used to feel faster on the web than my first gen Surface Go. This new base model Surface Go 3 is now faster than them, plus it "does Windows". So far as I can tell, the 4gb of RAM and use of less-expensive eMMC storage in this base model doesn't hold the Go 3 back; however 64gb isn't much to work with. The Go 3 base model only has about 30gb free after you boot it up. I can work with that, but that comes from having to work with earlier entry level Windows laptops with only 32gb of total storage! If you choose either the 64gb or 128gb models, I highly recommend a subscription to the personal edition of Office 365, which comes with 1tb (one terrabyte) of Microsoft OneDrive cloud storage and automatically moves your content to the cloud, with a local storage option for files you need to work on inflight etc. Otherwise, at least get a Micro SD card and change your file storage location to the card after to install it. All the video streaming apps I use are in the Microsoft Store, except HBO Max. So they work without a hitch. HBO Max stutters for me unless I "intall" the web page I've opened it into as an "app", from within the Edge browser's drop down menu in the upper right hand corner. Just web search for "install web page as an app" and you should get some guidance. One I did this, HBO Max ran perfectly. YouTube is also much improved, in controls not quality, when "installed as an app", give it a try. I'm currently experimenting running my Go 3 in S mode, but every other time I've gotten a device in S mode I've quickly opted into regular Windows mode. I don't think S mode is really safer, or faster, but it DOES impose some "training wheels" that might keep a beginning Windows user out of trouble - and also tends to save space. I will probably rather quickly tire of S mode, but I want to give a real try, for once. We get 5gb of OneDrive storage for free, which is a ton of Word documents and Excel spreadsheets, but you will definitely want a Micro SD card installed if you download a lot of Prime or Netflix videos. Videos are a lot bigger than docs and spreadsheets! Finally, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in this price range from any other computer maker that is as well designed and carefully built as this Surface Go 3. This really rivals the iPad! Plus, it has that really handy built-in, free kickstand, which allows easy use of many more keyboard options than the OEM Type Cover and the third party "clones" like Inateck, chich snap-on like the Type Cover, but run on Bluetooth instead of through a direct electrical connection (POGO). If you think of this as the "only iPad that runs Windows" you might not be far from the truth.

My surface 3 pro stopped working after a month in. I’ve tried calling Best Buy and Microsoft to fix the problem and nothing has been done about it. I can’t see my keyboard on the screen and my window is not displaying any file or anything. I’m so frustrated

I really enjoyed this laptop because it is super easy to use and portable, my favorite part. It would have been the perfect device if it would not crash and freeze up so much. When I bought the device I had to return it a few days later because the screen started collapsing. I received a new device and it is doing the same thing plus other buffers, just took a little longer for defaults to begin acting up. The device is scheduled to be returned to run diagnostic tests on it. I hoped that I did not have to run into the same problem twice, but I did and the second time was much worse than the first. Overall, the laptop is a great device. Please fix all bugs and errors so that the consumer can access all claimed features at no risk of the device breaking down. The battery life also is not that great, a full charge lasts me about an hour and a half; sometimes less depending on the brightness level and usage settings.

I enjoy using microsoft software and programs and own an xbox as well just to keep everything I can that is from my business, hobby, school, or personal uses. This surface go 3 tablet has been very difficult to work with... I applied my personal account to it and I have almost nothing on there stored, so keep in mind my business is not connected and none of the files were even transferred on there. Some issues from the set up AND continued for 2 days. Overheating and very hot from 5-10 minutes of internet use or even just getting my settings to how I want them, wifi connected but did not want to populate any website (2 different 10device wifi points used), it always seems to freeze when exiting out of any app, battery will not last a day even if it was charged to 100 (disconnected) and not used all day and result dead the next morning (even with powersaving mode). I've had this tablet for 6 days and unfortunately I can not return it due to a lost receipt which is not the issue, as the staff didn't offer store credit either. I take responsibility for losing the receipt. I do not recommend this tablet that wants to run like a desktop. Too much enginuity and features for it to handle itself. Just get a desktop that has potential to handle a core i3 or higher, saves you a headache. And don't shop at this store as they wander as if they don't get paid at all to do a job (the guy at checkout in the microsoft section was professional, meaning simply had a good attitude that i should mention is all it takes to be professional, and went above and beyond by offering services, insurance, facts, etc, which now unecessary but very gladly appreciated as we tend to forget about that as customers when making electronic purchases). Unfortunately now I will have to buy another product instead of getting an exchange at minimum and go elsewhere for it.

Bought this about a month ago as a secondary computer and it's done well so far. My main computer is an ASUS ROG laptop, and as much as I love the performance it has, it's just not as easy to bring around as the surface go 3 is. I still do all of my gaming and big tasks like video editing and heavy browsing on my main computer, but the surface holds its own. It's not the greatest in terms of performance, but i can run Lightroom just fine with only a minimal amount of lag compared to my main setup. Google chrome can run a few tabs just fine and if you need to throw a couple of clips together using the built in video editor that will work too. I haven't tried, but i highly doubt you can do serious video editing on this considering the specifications. Exporting edited photos takes a bit longer but for something that i bring around with me on the go, it's perfect. Cameras are decent, nothing crazy. Screen is nice and responsive. Definitely recommend taking it out of windows "s" mode and buying the keyboard cover for it; it gives it a nice touch and it's very useful. I have not tried any gaming on it and i don't plan to since i have my other laptop. Definitely would recommend though to someone who doesn't do a lot of stuff or as a secondary, on the go solution.

It works great amazing power the battery lifes not perfect but does work I love win 11 easyer to use than win 10 just want to say how great the new win termanal is this product is great for music softwares for recording and effects its very impresive that I can play games on it I origanaly bought it just to record my songs but now I use it for every thing and it has faceID! Really good tablet but only for work use and school. It can play games but nothing heavy, if you are expecting to multitask on this like a surface pro you’ll be highly disappointed. It doesn’t lag to much but you’ll noticed a wait time for a split second when doing more than two or 3 tasks at a time.

Overall I really like this little tablet. I haven’t owned a Windows machine since XP days and I now remember why I don’t like Windows. I was pretty much forced to go this route if I wanted to use several of the digital modes of my Ham radios in the field. I’m still hoping to see software developed for Amateur Radio that runs on iOS and MacOS. On the hardware side I’m happy with everything except the battery life. The display is pretty nice and the tablet easily runs my Ham software none of which is very needy when it comes to system resources. On the Windows 11 side… I spent a lot of time getting rid of stuff I don’t need or want (this is only going to be used for radio stuff. I use an iPad or MacBook Air for everything else). The one major issue I had was getting it to recognize my admin privileges. Tech support was actually super and after changing one digit in a registry file they had me back in business. I did get fed up with having issues every time I tried to tether to an iPhone 11 in the field…so I got a cable, downloaded iTunes so they could talk and no more headaches. Of course my phone tried to drain the tablet battery so I had to disable charging. The keyboard and pen are handy and the handwriting recognition works better than expected. Needs AAAA batteries for the pen but I can live with that. Overall I think it’s going to do the job as long as I have my aux power source with me. 73

For a piece of tech that is RELATIVELY NEW (within the last decade) for it to have the Processor and it has is KINDA Ridiculous... That being said, For a simple use like internet usage, this tablet definitely works it's charm. The Operating System it comes with is Windows 11, HOWEVER it is in S mode (I assume it means Secure/Security) Although it may have a specific OS, it can easily be switched to a normal OS without any extra security. but this is a nice feature for those are are not accustom to all the tech and internet of this age...If you're use to touch screen then no accessories needed, however I would recommend getting the keyboard and some form of styler (Pen) for easy access to all functions.

Perfect for what I need! I got it for word processing and various office suite programs. Also runs a variety of apps from the improved Microsoft app store. Very fast and perfect for on-the-go. Battery life could be better but eco mode does stretch the battery a bit further without noticeable loss of performance.

This was in exceptionally good shape (we bought it as an open box item). For 4GB of RAM and a Pentium Gold CPU it runs really well. There is an occasional pause when opening a program, but it's not bad and most of the time I don't notice any pause whatsoever. I turned off S Mode so I could install Steam, but whether it's in S Mode or not it runs great. I would not hesitate to pick another one of these up.

I got this to do work on the go since I have different assignments in various states. Great for Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, etc) Loss of a star because this poor little thing can NOT handle discord messenger. It will crash on you. Repeatedly. It seems to handle Telegram just fine while I work. I have not tried Zoom or Teams. I doubt it would run either of them effectively if it can’t handle Discord text chat. But for what it’s worth to do emails, excel spreadsheets, word documents, and occasionally flit through a website you can’t go wrong. It’s small enough to fit in my “purse” (Tablet bag) even with the keyboard, mouse, and cord Battery life is pretty good unless you leave it in a cold area overnight, then expect to wake up to a dead device. Pleased with the surface mouse. (It also works on my iPad when I’m done with working on the surface). Took a little while to get used to the keyboard but it’s very sleek and I love it too.
