The laptop is very light and easy to use. The touch screen feels natural and switching between the mouse pad and the touch screen is very intuitive. Battery life has been very good for casual use. I have yet to see what it like under heavy use. I use it primarily for email and web surfing. I considered the Apple Air but the Surface's touch screen and screen resolution sold me. I got the base model, but the performance has been great. I have yet to use the external mouse so I can't say much about it except I have not needed it yet.

Christmas present for my son who is a senior in HS and looking at colleges. This will replace his 4 year old basic laptop. He has downloaded Steam and another streaming game app on the surface. Not a gaming laptop, but he says it works fine. I sat down with it and was impressed with the design. It feels solid. The screen looks amazing and is a touch screen. Came with Arc touch mouse and I like it a lot. When the Arc mouse is flat it is off and when you bend/curve it it turns on. I am a fan of the keyboard as it is like my SP3 keyboard with alcantara fabric on it instead of a hard plastic. Amazing it is so thin,light and well built. First thing I asked him to do was upgrade to Windows 10 as it is free until the end of the year. Only problem, Now my daughter wants a surface laptop.

great for portability, the wireless mouse is nice added incentive . the added features like face recognition and cortana make it seamless. the microsoft edge keeps teaching you on tips and trips . just overall great machine and its very very light , sleek and thin

This is by far one of Microsoft's best products. The design is sleek and stylish. Very thin and very easy to travel with. Computer operates at fast speeds and I am very pleased with performance. Would definitely recommend!

I bought this because I needed a smaller laptop to do work on and carry around and it was perfect for that job. The laptop is quick thanks to the SSD but the memory limits how much it can do. For me though, it was more than enough to do work or to use it to watch Netflix while I worked on my other laptop. The mouse was very cool and it being Bluetooth helps since the laptop does not have many ports. The screen looks incredible and the feel of the laptop is great. The keyboard felt good to use and windows worked perfectly on it. Overall, I am satisfied with the laptop but if you are not picky about look or anything else, you can definitely get something cheaper that will get the job done.
