I have been a Mac person ever since I gave up on Microsoft-based laptops & computers in 2008. never thought that Microsoft could compare to the stability and innovation of Apple products. I stand corrected! This tablet is a great computer. This computer is a great tablet. Need I say more? It is fast, it is lightweight, it is beautiful. No iPad can compare. I can expand its memory. I can use the apps I used on my desktop. I can be on the go. It is like coming back from the "dark side"!

I have been dreaming about purchasing a Surface Pro for a few years and I finally took the plunge. I am so glad I did. The operation is so smooth. It is portable, convenient, and excellent viewing. The screen is crystal clear. The set up process is very simple. I am very happy with my purchase and will definitely purchase another one when the time comes.

I love this laptop! It is capable of doing everything I need for school (and life in general), plus much more. I would definitely recommend this product!

Before entering my review, I'll explain the context of why I purchased the Surface Pro. I needed something portable to read academic journals and mark PDFs, while still being able to handle typical office stuff like PowerPoint, Word. I did tons (literally hours) of research, agonizing for days over whether to go with a new 10.5 iPad Pro or the Surface. In the end, I had the opportunity to try both, and - spoiler alert - I ended up keeping the Surface Pro. The build is superb, the industrial angles look sleek, and the screen is fantastic. The [rather expensive] catch is that to make the Surface Pro be all Microsoft envisions, you have to dump an extra $99 minimum to add the Pen, and then another $150 to get the keyboard, which, is not an insignificant investment. I opted for the middle of the pack, the i5 with higher memory capacity rather than the i7 because I wanted the fanless (i.e. quieter) version, and I'm not disappointed. The main negative with the iPad Pro from a work/productivity standpoint was the new changes with iOS 11, although significant, still fall far short of an actual desktop OS. Furthermore, even though it's not a knock against the actual iPad, the official Apple smart keyboard was dismal to type on. The chiclet keys were really aesthetically pleasing which is par for the course for Apple, but even though I wouldn't say I have particularly gargantuan hands, I found myself making way too many typos and looking down to physically locate keys. The Microsoft keyboard, sold separately, types much better and the keys feel more akin to a regular desktop keyboard. The tradeoff is that the Microsoft keyboard flexes more than the Apple. The Surface pen works great, and being able to hotkey my most used functions to the onboard eraser button makes my workflow more efficient. If you don't particularly need a pen functionality, then I'd say skip the Surface Pro and just get an actual laptop, as there are tradeoffs as mentioned above. But, if you're specifically looking for a work-use device that handles pen utility, then take a good look at the Surface Pro. Most, if not all, of the major criticisms against the Surface 4 have been addressed with the Surface Pro 2017... except for the confusing nomenclature.

I had held out as long as I could to buy a new tablet. I waited for the latest Surface Pro to finally hit the shelves and I was not disappointed. The surface pro is a fantastically designed product. The bevels are perfectly radiused, the thickness of the entire tablet is not too big and not too small, and the weight is not as bad as you would think. The kickstand is one of the best features! I was amazed at how much I used to prop up my iPad or use the case as a stand. The hardware inside (i5, 8gb RAM, and 256gb HD) is perfect. The fanless design keeps the heat disapated across the entire back of the tablet instead of one location. It is very easy to adjust the power setting to extend the battery life or utilize the processor. Windows 10 is fantastic on this device. Switching to tablet mode or laptop mode could not be easier. The negative: First the negative for the device. To get the most out of the laptop component of the surface, you really need the keyboard (sold separately from $80 to $130). This is kind of irritating since you are already dumping a good chunk of change on the tablet itself. To really get the full functionality out of the tablet piece, I recommend buying the pen. This runs an extra $100. If you do a lot of document markups or drawing editing, this is crucial for you. If you like to sketch or doodle, you need the pen! The last negative is the lack of apps. Truth be told, if you need to access something without the app you can always use the Edge web browser. However, if you are in tablet mode all the time this can become a pain. So all that said, I highly recommend this product. It is seriously the best money I have spent in a long time.
