My old phone slowed down once I updated it, couldn’t add or use memory. M g7 this phone, updated once has not slowed down at all !! Very user friendly, bright and sharp pics better than I expected !!!

The screen is the largest on a cell phone, I am told, which I love since I use it more for videos than calls. The keyboard has slightly larger keys further apart which makes typing far easier. It has the right features to keep me current but isn't ridiculous about trying to do everything like the Google Pixel 3xl. It is heavier and seems sturdier. I drop my phones regularly so being well built is essential. Considering how careless I am, it would have been better if it had a lip around the glass so as to take the brunt of any dropping, but I guess you can't have everything.

I'm still learning this phone and enjoying all the different cool stuff I'm figuring out about it. this is a devise that is full of surprises... I really like the camera on this devise... It is real good. better then most camera phone's I have used...

Camera seemed a bit grainy. Very pleased with processing speed. No glitches when running multiple apps. Images seem live and vivid. Bluetooth volume a little weak when connected to car stereo compared to my past phones. Overall excellent value and quality for price compared to all the overpriced phones out there.

Easy to negotiate and use this phone for a multitude of tasks. It has nice graphics and a notable amount of storage for music, videos and files Down side #1: I was told it could be double chipped for foreign travel. Not So! #2: Screen is lousy. Dropped short distance once and cracked it. 2nd drop into wood floor, short distance, shattered it. After this I went back to my old Motorola Z Play. It has a tempered screen. I've dropped it from high distance on tarmac and not even a scratch. Motorola should have kept with the tempered glass. The expense to fix the newer phone is such, it isn't worth fixing. So it's relegated to my backpack and basically used for extra music and video storage.

Purchased this phone for my wife, the following is her review: Nice phone, the battery life is isn’t as long-lasting as my previous Moto Play Z but there are many similarities with the user interface so it’s just as easy to use. It’s much faster and the finger print recognition is a nice feature.

Moto has done a better job worth the G series this year. Great battery life and the price is right.

Love my new phone...no complaints.... customer service was great. I will continue to shop there.

Great phone, many really great features, not quite so great camera.

Bought this December 2019. It's now October 2020. The phone was fast at first, and the battery lasted about a day and a half, while being used a good amount throughout the day. Now, the phone slows down from simple browsing and the battery lasts 1 hour.

After 24 hours ... The good: - 4gb RAM / 64gb storage / SD 632 - no lag, and it's pretty snappy in normal use - I don't game so can't comment there - Stock Android, Android 9.0 Pie, with January security patch - Battery life solid, 2 days for me - I'm not a heavy user, more medium - Fast Charge, gets around 40% in 30 mins - that's QC 3.0 levels - Fingerprint sensor is pretty fast and very accurate; The "M" in the sensor is a nice touch as well; Face unlock works well too, and in low light also - I'd put it on par with my old LG V30, not as fast as Oneplus - Micro-SD expandable storage is always welcome - Gorilla Glass 3 on the front and back, premium look and feel - Don't care about gestures, but the 2x wrist twist to open the camera is so awesome - Speaker/audio quality for a single-firing speaker sounds good and is pretty loud - sounds crystal clear; you can leave the setting on "smart audio" and it adjusts to what you're listening to or you can manually choose "music" or "movie" mode - Headphone jack, thank you! - Has Wi-Fi calling, I'm on T-mobile The Okay: - The camera does a good job; it doesn't compare (and is not supposed to) to my wife's iPhone X, but some shots actually competed nicely! In good lighting, it takes sharp/quality photos; In dimmer conditions it does okay, the lack of OIS shows here. Portrait mode has improved also, with other Moto phones I've used recently --- I installed the Google Camera app and it truly makes a world of difference, in case you're worried - Display is average; LCD panels are not AMOLED of course, and this one passes but it's not great - reducing the ppi while gaining a larger 6.2" display doesn't make a lot of sense - That large waterdrop notch - it is what it is The Bad: - Bluetooth 4.2, same as last 2 years and is now unacceptable - petty maybe, but c'mon the x4 has it - The plastic frame around the sides, when the G6 had an aluminum frame, is just plain cheap The only thing I haven't really had any time to test is the call quality, so I'm not certain of that yet, though with previous Moto phones this has not been an issue. Overall this a very good phone and at this price, cheaper parts are expected. If you buy this with reasonable expectations and knowing it's not going to outperform an $800 phone, then you're going to get a solid, modern android device with the most current android operating system. I would recommend this to anyone wanting "pretty good" across the board and not wanting to spend the earth.

We use the Moto G-series on prepaid accounts for employees at work to control costs, and for the price, they're usually excellent phones. They keywords here are "for the price" because if you compare one to a $1,000 flagship phone, you might find a lot of fault with it, but remember, this is less than one-third that price, and stands up well even to phones costing more. Since so many others have reviewed this phone already I'll just point out a few pluses and minuses of my own after having used a few of these at work for a short time: - PLUS: Clear 1080p screen. Not quite as bright as the G5, as around 70% it equals the G5's 50% but still bright enough. - PLUS: Good sound quality from the single speaker. Good call quality. WiFi isn't quite as fast as some others but doesn't lose signal. - PLUS: Camera improved over past models. Now capable of "portrait" blur effects. More than sharp enough for what most people need and use these for these days. - PLUS: While overall specs are a very modest update over the G5, the processor has been bumped up enough that you do see a performance/speed increase. (No lag). - PLUS: Fingerprint reader now on the back and in a good place where your finger rests (and is fast). Face recognition option is not as secure but also works fast if that's your choice. - MINUS: As mentioned earlier, the screen isn't as bright as past models. Cranking it up higher does allow for easy viewing indoors and in shaded areas, but outdoors in sun it's much harder to see than on past models. - MINUS: Still no "NFC" in the U.S. models - meaning you can't store a credit card in it and wave it over a payment terminal to make payments in stores, etc. - MINUS: Fragile. This version has a glass back (but no wireless charging? Duh) which makes it more fragile than previous models. You DO want a decent impact-resistant case and screen protector on this. --- Conclude: As long as the minuses don't bug you, this phone is capable of doing what in my opinion, a good majority of phone buyers need, at a fraction of the price of the phones most of them are buying. As long as you don't have a specific need for NFC payment capability, or a camera that can make 11x14 prints (few phone cameras can do this anyway), then this should make any "average" phone user happy.

Best Buy is a little premature seeking a review on a product I have only had for 10 days. Wait for 3-6 months, then ask for the review! I upgraded from a Motorola G2 to the G7, so major improvements were expected and I was not disappointed. I suppose anything would have been better than what I had, so my review is probably skewed. I have never owned or used a flagship Samsung, Apple, Pixel, etc. phone; however, with that disclaimer out of the way, I venture to say the G7 does 90% of what the flagships do and does it about 90% as well. If that difference is worth it, by all means, spend the extra $600-$700 and get the flagship model. I’ve spent big bucks on other top end things, and rarely ever use them to their capability. So that’s why I went with the G7. Close contenders for me were the Google Pixel 3A and 3A XL as well as the Nokia 7.1 - all more expensive than the G7. I paid $270 + tax, and no extended warranty. One additional rationalization for getting the G7 was the fact it was cheap enough that in 2-3 yrs, I could get a new G9 or G10 and still spend less than what many other phones cost today. If I break it, or lose it, I’m out $270 vs. $300-$1000 with a more expensive one. Enough with my logic and rationalization for buying the G7, I will say I am quite impressed with it. I love the 6.2” screen, the fact it has an FM radio, headphone jack, ability to add storage with a Micro SD card, 64 GBs of internal storage, 4 GBs RAM, etc. I’m not a big picture taker, so an excellent camera was not a high priority, but the G7 does seem to take good photos and movies. Basically, the phone seems to be a very good one, but then, I am not a power user. Your mileage might vary. A few things I don’t care for include: (1) Glass back. I can see that it could easily get broken if not protected with a good case, plus it is slick. It slides off couchs, arms of chairs, my lap, and can slip out of my pocket when I sit down, etc. A case will solve that though. (2) Time for calls to initiate after dialing. It takes about 15 seconds for the call to start ringing after placing it. That may or may not be the phone’s problem. It’s a minor nuisance. (3) Weak cell receptivity. My old G2, it had full cell strength at home, but the G7 has half or a third strength in exactly the same environment. The weaker cell receptivity does not cause problems other than maybe #2 above. All calls are clear & unbroken, and non-WiFi internet activities do not seem to be affected when out and about. (4) Sound quality/volume. The G7 has one speaker. It is OK, but is no Bose sound system. (5) No waterproofing. It might be splash resistant, but submerge it, and it’s probably soggy toast. But, my wife and I have had cell phones for 15 yrs and we have never ruined one yet because of water damage. Just be careful. In summary, buying a cell phone is matter of compromises. I compromised on waterproofing, sound quality, camera quality, etc. in exchange for saving big $$, and getting a few extras that were important to me, like the FM radio, SD card storage, and a headphone jack. Those 3 things are not always offered with the flagships. I’m probably just a cheapskate, but I really think most folks would do just fine with the Motorola Moto G7. Don’t let peer pressure force you to buy an expensive phone. Your friends and acquaintances could care less what phone you are using. Plus with 5G coming on the scene now, it doesn’t make sense to pay big bucks for a phone that will not operate as a 5G phone. Pay $300 for a decent phone now, like the Moto G7, and then upgrade to a 5G-capable phone in a couple of years as the 5G system develops.

This phone is absolutely one of the best values you can get. At less than $300, you get a phone capable of running the newest operating system and apps without feeling sluggish. A phone that can expand it's storage capacity with micro SD cards. A phone that offers USB C and a headphone jack plus light water resistance. A phone that has an incredibly small bezel. That extends past 1920 pixels on a 1080p to extend Android UI into where the bezel WOULD be to give you more screen space. A phone with no sponsored bloatware. A phone that can be switched between practically any US carrier. It's a smooth vanilla Android experience with Moto actions such as chop chop flashlight which is really convenient. And a battery life that should easily last the whole day, two if you aren't playing games or getting a lot of screen time. Now for the cons; they simply consist of features that most smartphones seem to come with, but because this phone isn't $800+, I think we can let it slide :p No wireless charging. Not waterproof. Camera and stock software are mediocre (try opencamera on play store). Again, at this value, ask yourself if you really need a premium flagship. This is the phone to get if you don't have a brand preference, and you'll probably stay with the Moto G lineup of phones.

I bought a G7 after reading many positive reviews to replace my Droid Turbo 2. I like the Motorola software and hand actions to start the camera and flashlight features. The phone looks great although I did buy a cover just in case the Gorilla Glass fails. The screen is crisp, the processor is fast enough to play videos, run all my apps, and browse the internet. I actually use it to read certain sites that my IPad balks at loading. The battery charges completely in about an hour. Fifteen minutes will give you around 30%. This phone lasts me for one and a half to two days on a full charge. I don’t play games or watch videos for nine hours a day as some review sites do to test the battery capacity. It is slim and attractive. It doesn’t accommodate wireless charging and the pin connector is oval so throw away the old mini-chargers which is a mixed blessing. Since it is an unlocked phone no Verizon bloatware to get rid of. How much did I like the phone, let me say I replaced my wife’s phone with a G7. The camera is fine for me and casual pics since I still use my little Cannon Elph for special photos along with PhotoShop. I have had my phone since June and I have no real complaints. Did I say that I bought both phones for $219 not $800 as our last phones. I know there are better phones out there but for this price and features nothing comes close to it.

There are some small nitpicks here and there (some are probably just specific to me personally), but overall for the price I genuinely can't complain. So I won't give it a full 5 stars, but I'd do 4.5 if I could This base variant doesn't quite have the battery power that I hear is so great on the "Power" model, but the Turbo Charging (variant of QuickCharge 2.0 technology) makes it a super trivial matter. Also the battery lasts a decent while unless you're making significant/heavy use of the device with apps/videos/etc This is my first phone with a notch and it's a bit bigger than it needs to be, but I've gotten used to it within these first few weeks. Screen looks great but could maybe get a tad brighter. Earpiece speaker works alright and sounds fine, but the media speaker is honestly pretty loud and maintains decent quality up to a certain volume. Camera seems perfectly fine quality wise, though night time pictures (without side-loaded software) are a bit lacking. Though for this price range that's more than acceptable. Has a bunch of other basic features you'd expect and some decent specs (especially for the price range). Overall if you're looking for a decent smartphone that won't break the bank, this is a wonderful option. It might still be better to wait for a sale or potentially shop around for cheaper deals depending on your budget, but if you get this phone I'm sure you'll be fairly content with it.
