If you like rally games, you have to buy this; it's a must-buy. The quality is excellent, the price is very affordable, the materials are robust, and you can even change one of the springs for extra stiffness. Excellent, like everything from Moza.

I bought this for my Moza R3 bundle for the Xbox One X. It works great in DiRT Rally 2.0. The game recognized it straight away after mapping it to the handbrake button. It mounted onto my rig with no issue. In the box Moza provides the necessary cables, screws, washers, tools and additional options if you want a different resistance and travel than the yellow spring that comes installed. It includes a heavier blue spring, an even stiffer rubber elastomer with thick metal washers, a solid rubber cylinder the same size as the elastomer, and finally an additional rubber backstop. The only issue I experienced was when trying to remove the plate covering the spring housing to try out the spring and elastomer options. 2 of the 4 very tiny screws were torqued down so tight on one side that the included phillips screw driver was wearing away trying to free them. I eventually had to use a pocket knife and a small phillips screw driver I already owned to get them loose. Once I got one of the difficult screws out I rotated the plate to one side to help loosen up the last one. I currently have the plate off for ease of access and asthetic purposes. Great value, price, customization options, adjustability and compatability for a solid piece of gear that works right out of the box!

I was running a cheap eBay USB handbrake before this, the kind that's basically a bent steel plate and a spring in a box. It worked. That's about the nicest thing I can say about it. The HBP is a different class of object entirely. Start with the build. The whole body is CNC machined from aviation-grade aluminum with an anodized finish, and the edges are properly broken and rounded instead of left sharp. It looks like a part rather than a project. The handle is what I noticed first, though. My old one had a hard corner that dug into the meat of my palm on every pull, and after a long session my hand was sore. The HBP's grip is shaped for a closed hand and I can yank on it repeatedly without thinking about it. That sounds like a small thing. It isn't, if you drive anything that needs the handbrake more than twice a lap. The sensor is non-contact, a 16-bit Hall effect angle sensor with 65,536 points of resolution. Nothing rubs, so there's nothing to wear out or recalibrate six months in. My old unit was a potentiometer and it had already started getting jumpy near the end of travel. I don't expect to have that conversation again. Adjustability is real and mechanical. You swap springs to change pull resistance and move the stop to change how far the lever travels, both with the tools included in the box. The lever mounts horizontally for rally and drift or vertically for a road car feel, and the angle adjusts in stages on top of that. It also runs in either axis mode for proper modulation or button mode for games that only want an on/off signal. Here's what actually made me buy Moza instead of something else: it plugs straight into the handbrake port on a Moza wheelbase. No second USB device, no separate calibration utility, no fighting Windows over which controller got assigned where. It shows up in Pit House next to everything else and you calibrate it there. If you're already in the ecosystem, that convenience is worth real money. It connects directly to a PC over USB Type-B if you aren't, and that cable is in the box too. Mounting is straightforward on a rig with standard profile. If you're on a desk instead, know that you'll want Moza's universal mounting plate and a clamp, and those are separate purchases. Nothing here clamps to a table out of the box. A couple of honest gripes, since no review should be all praise. This is a spring-and-angle design, not a load cell or hydraulic setup, so it measures how far you pulled rather than how hard you pulled. For rally and drift that's fine and arguably what you want. If you were hoping for pressure-based feel like a real hydraulic lever, that's a different and much more expensive category of product. The stock spring was also a little light for me, and swapping it is the first thing I'd tell anyone to do. At a hundred dollars this is an easy recommendation, especially on a Moza base. My old eBay unit isn't even in the parts bin anymore. I stripped its bracket for another project.

I don’t know who engineered this thing, but they woke up and chose violence (in a good way). Grab a handful of this bad boy and suddenly you feel like you’re in control of your life again. Bills? Gone. Stress? Who’s she? The build quality is solid, the feel is chef’s kiss, and every time I use it I question why I didn’t buy it sooner. It’s one of those products where you go, “Yep… this is exactly what I needed,” even if you didn’t know you needed it. 10/10 would grab again. Probably twice.

The MOZA HBP handbrake has very good build quality and feels solid and well made. Installation was quick and easy, and I was able to have everything set up and start playing within just a few minutes. It has been especially useful for drifting and taking tight corners. Coming from using just a button as a handbrake, it took me a little while to get used to actually pulling a handbrake, but once I found the rhythm, it became much more useful and, honestly, a lot more fun. Being able to control the handbrake during a drift and tight corners makes the driving experience feel much more immersive. Overall, I’m very happy with the HBP. It feels like a quality product, it’s easy to install, and it adds a lot to the driving experience. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a proper sim racing handbrake.
