My Favorite Brunette stars Bob Hope as baby photographer Ronnie Jackson, who tells his story in flashback as he awaits the San Quentin gas chamber. While watching his private-eye neighbor's office, Ronnie is mistaken for the sleuth by the beautiful Baroness Montay (Dorothy Lamour) who hires him to find the missing Baron. With very funny surprise cameos by Alan Ladd and Bing Crosby, this excellent spoof of film noir movie detectives is rollicking good fun!

The story begins with Ronnie Jackson (Bob Hope), who is on death row, recounting to reporters the events which led to his predicament. Baby photographer Ronnie Jackson has always wanted to be a private detective like his friend Sam McCloud (Alan Ladd). When McLoud has to go out of town on a case, he leaves Ronnie to mind the office. Then, in walks the beautiful and mysterious Carlotta Montey (Dorothy Lamour). Thinking Ronnie is a real private eye, Carlotta, who is a baroness, hires Ronnie to find her missing husband, who happens to be a baron. Ronnie soon finds himself involved in a murder mystery, and a series of confusing but sinister events take place in a gloomy mansion and a private sanatorium. Cameo appearances by Alan Ladd and Hope partner Bing Crosby just add to the flavor of this film! Not to mention, the ending is a real surprise! (86 minutes - 1947 - Black & White - 4 3)
