Great addition to non-smart mini-split!
Right up front, here are the pros and cons of the Mysa Smart Thermostat for AC and Mini-Splits: Pros: • Controls a wide variety of heating and cooling devices that come with IR remotes • Easy to set up and get working with your devices • Mysa app is very polished and easy to use • Looks good on the wall and comes with its own stand for tabletop application • Packed in 100% recyclable materials—good for the environment! Cons: • Current firmware isn't able to control a couple of functions of my mini-split, but the company says updates are coming! ~And here's my story~ I moved into a house built in 1963 a couple months before writing this review. The home uses a single head Daikin mini split with a big white remote control as the sole source of heating and cooling in the main part of the house (dining, living, and kitchen area), and has ceiling resistance heaters in three bedrooms, each with its own thermostat. When we first moved in, I looked at a few line-level thermostats to replace the original ones that control the ceiling heat in each of the bedroom. The Mysa line-level smart thermostats seemed to be exactly what I was looking for, but the cost to change out all three didn't seem like it was worth it, especially since I live the northwest US, where the climate is mild enough that I will really only use the ceiling heat on a few of the coldest nights of the year. What I really wanted was the ability to control the mini-split with my phone instead of the clunky old remote control. There were a few times where I forgot to turn the heat down before bed and had to get up in the dark and turn on lights to change the settings. Lo and behold, a couple months later Mysa comes out with EXACTLY what I need. Now I can change the settings on my mini split from anywhere! Thanks, Mysa! After using it for the past couple weeks, I can say I'm very pleased to own it. I now have smart control over my mini split, and I can forget about dealing with the clunky old remote. I found setup to be fairly easy, and operating the unit with my phone is simple and intuitive. I like the design, and the digital smiley face that presents itself whenever the unit completes an update or restart is pretty cute. I was particularly impressed with the packaging the unit came in—it's all recyclable carboard, with the only plastic involved being a protectant on the screen. The only issue I've had so far is that the Mysa cannot change the fan speed of my Daikin mini-split when the Daikin is set to the fan-only or dehumidify modes. When I reached out to Mysa about this issue, they assured me that a firmware update would come soon to fix that issues. I am still able to use the Daikin's remote control to manually turn up the fan speed in those modes, so I'm not too put out.

Time saving Convenient stress reducer!
The Mysa Thermastat for Ac and Mini-Splits is a gerat idea that adds convenience to your life. It took a while for me to get a working code for my newer GE smart A/C. While my GE smart A/C comes with a good app it can not control several different brands of A/C units with one app like the Mysa app can. Mysa Thermastats and the app that goes witch them can streamline your control of a house with multiple window units, mini-splits and portable AC units. I have mine set up on my computer desk and really enjoy just being able to reach over near my mouse pad and turn my AC on or off, change the temperature and adjust the fan speed without looking for or having to point a controller or pull up an app on my phone. It saves a lot of time and constantly displays the room temperature whether the AC is on or not. It takes a little while to figure out the functions of the thermostat and I feel like the display could show more info to make it easier to understand. However, once you figure it out it is easy to use and very convenient. The app also has some useful features like being able to schedule AC’s for different parts of the day it includes a usage graph with information you can use to set up your AC accordingly by tracking ambient temperatures and the humidity levels in your home. While my current unit is just an AC it also works for units that do both AC and heat. I think it is a good investment just to reduce the stress and time it saves me from having to mess witha controller or my phone to adjust my AC. It is so nice to have a simple device next to my mouse pad for climate control!

Good choice for controlling multiple devices
I recently installed a mini-split and I wanted to have more control than just what is available with the manufacturer's remote control. The manufacturer does not make a good mobile app and I have discovered this is typical of most mini-split manufacturers. The Mysa thermostat was fairly easy to install. I downloaded the app, opened it and followed the instructions for connecting to my home network - it worked on the second try. Next is the pairing process with the mini-split remote control. This reminded me a lot of the pairing process you perform with most "universal" remotes where you try a code, then another until it works. I only had to try twice with the Power and twice with the Swing command to complete the pairing. I found that the Mysa moved very easily between my home SSID and the device SSID, so pairing was fairly painless. Then the remote went into an update process and that took several minutes. The manufacturer suggests you stop using your unit's remote control after you install the Mysa because it may lead to "conflicts." I find this strange given that you do not have to do so with TV and similar remotes, keeping the functionality of all remotes, but I did notice the temps were different on my original remote and the Mysa remote, so I can understand why they suggest that. The real advantage I see for using the Mysa remote and app is the ability to control multiple devices. This would be great if you have a mini-split and a traditional HVAC unit. However, just replacing the mini-split remote, I lose a lot of functionality, Like all universal remotes, it is not made to perform all the functions of the original device remote. And given that you are supposed to use one or the other, you do not have the benefit of keeping them in separate places. I can see using the Mysa app to prepare a room before you plan to enter it outside of a schedule period. Similarly, if you forget to turn down/off the AC/heat, you can do so from your phone. Also, if I had an older unit with a less functional remote control, I would prefer the sleek styling and easy control of the Mysa. For my purposes, I consider it expensive for being conflicting and complementary to my original remote control for the single unit I wish to control.
