You definitely get what you pay for.

You definitely get what you pay for. You can tell that every detail is a statement that nothing was forgotten or over looked. Bass you feel. Clarity that pierces through. All around balance that brings everything to life. The dolby atmos affect surrounds you and immerses you. The level of control you have over the system fits multiple purposes from movies to music the neighborhood can hear. Best purchase I made this year. I know that it will last for years to come, because of the quality of product. It is worth every penny!!!

    Wow

My favorite part of the Nakamichi Dragon Dual 12 honestly isn’t even a specific feature—it’s just hearing movies the way they’re supposed to sound. The bass is deep, rich, and powerful without having to crank the volume so high that the dialogue is screaming at you. It really does give you that movie theater feeling at home. The funny thing is, I probably wouldn’t even own this system if it wasn’t for my older son. He started getting really into movies lately and inviting me to go to the theater with him. We went to see one in IMAX, which was actually my first IMAX movie, and I remember thinking, “Okay…now I get it.” The sound was on a completely different level. I told him afterward, “Yeah, we need this at home.” That’s what sent me down the rabbit hole of looking for a home theater system, and eventually I ended up with the Dragon Dual 12. But my favorite moment was when we watched our first movie with it. I looked over at my son and he had this huge smile on his face. He just looked at me and said, “This sounds GOOD.” That right there made the whole purchase worth it. Now we can get pretty darn close to that IMAX experience at home—and I don’t have to pay $8 for a Coke every time we want to watch a movie. The Dragon Dual 12 has honestly made watching movies together at home something we look forward to. The sound is huge, the bass is incredible, and it actually feels like a theater instead of just a TV with really good speakers.

    Blown Away by the Sound!

I don't write many reviews, but this system deserves one. I replaced my Yamaha A/V receiver and Klipsch RF-3 Reference speakers with the Nakamichi Dragon system with the dual 12" subwoofers. To be honest, I wasn't sure a soundbar could compete with a traditional receiver and speaker setup, but I was completely wrong. The sound is absolutely incredible. Dialogue is crystal clear, surround effects are immersive, and the whole room fills with sound. Watching movies feels like being in a theater, especially with Dolby Atmos content. Even regular TV shows and music sound noticeably better than they did on my old system. The dual 12" subs are beasts! The bass is deep, clean, and powerful without being boomy. You can actually feel the impact during action scenes, but it never overwhelms the rest of the audio. It's easily some of the best bass I've heard in a home theater. If you're on the fence because you're coming from a traditional receiver and speaker system like I was, don't be. The Dragon exceeded my expectations in every way. It's not inexpensive, but in my opinion, it's worth every penny. Very happy with this purchase!

    Outstanding System with Great Bass!

This soundbar and sub package is absolutely killer! By far the easiest way to get a full theatre quality sound system with a soundbar and a super simple setup. The bass absolutely rocks the house! I might just have to add the other two subs for even more fun but just two is honestly more than I’ll use 98% of the time.

    Surpassed expectations

I wanted the traditional home theater experience but didn't have room for all of the equipment. I had high hopes based on various reviews on the web and this system blew past them. I'm a few months in and I'm so impressed. Watching movies and even every day TV shows is a totally different experience. It also just works. Setting it up was easy and everything connected without me doing anything other than pressing the power button. Turn on the TV and it automatically comes on every time and connects to the correct input. My young son and others have never had an issue watching TV or movies.

    Excellent and UNCOMPROMISING

I recently set up the Nakamichi Dragon with dual 12-inch subwoofers, and I can honestly say I am 100% happy with this system. Nakamichi provided a list of songs and movies to showcase the Dragon's capabilities, but the first track I played was "Rocket Man" by Elton John. From the moment the music started, I was blown away. The clarity and detail were incredible—I felt like I was standing right next to the drummer. Every strike of the drumsticks on the hi-hat was reproduced with stunning precision and realism. As a former music major who played in bands throughout high school and college, music quality is extremely important to me. I pay close attention to instrument separation, dynamics, and overall accuracy. The Dragon exceeded my expectations in every way. The soundstage is immersive, vocals are crystal clear, and individual instruments have their own distinct space within the mix. The dual 12-inch subwoofers take the experience to another level. The bass is deep, powerful, and incredibly well-balanced throughout the room. You don't just hear the low frequencies—you feel them in your chest. The dual subwoofer setup provides exceptional impact while maintaining control and musicality, adding realism to both music and movie soundtracks without overwhelming the rest of the system. The Nakamichi Dragon has transformed both my music and movie listening experiences. It's rare to find a system that combines this level of detail, immersion, and emotional connection to the content. For me, this has been one of the best audio investments I've ever made, and I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a truly premium home theater and music experience

    My Nakamichi Jurney

When I first started looking into the Nakamichi Dragon system, I am not the type of buyer who jumps in lightly. I did extensive research reading reviews, watching YouTube videos, comparing set ups, and trying to understand what sets this system apart. Even with all that preparation I have to admit I was still nervous about spending that kind of money on something I had never actually heard in person. That said, I decided to take the leap-and I am glad I did. My installation wasn't exactly straightforward. My living room set up presented some unique challenges, especially with the main sound bar. I could not set it on anything, and I did not want to mount it to the wall as it is stone, and I did not want to drill holes in it. I searched for pre-made brackets to mount to my tv but could not find anything that would work with the size and weight, so I engineered and fabricated my own brackets that mount to my TV wall mount bracket and not the TV. The brackets mount without touching the TV and the sound bar is bolted in just like the Nakamichi bracket. It has work fantastically. In remodeling this room a few years ago, I Installed a new fireplace with a heat management system that directs the heat up above my TV and equipment, so the electronics do not get hot. My duel 12" subs are set on the diagonal on each side of my room, and the rear speakers are directly behind my main sitting area about 4' back. Once everything was in place the results spoke for themselves. The sound is incredibly immersive and powerful, with a depth that honestly exceeded my expectations. It transformed the way we watch movies and listen to music-bringing a true theater-quality experience into our home. Looking back, the process wasn't just about buying a sound system-it became a bit of engineering project and a personal investment in getting things just right. Although it wasn't completely necessary the new system also prompted us to buy new recliners and other furniture to get the maximum comfort for our new theater experience. For anyone considering the Nakamichi Dragon, I'd say this: do your research, plan your set up carefully and don't be afraid to get creative if your space requires it. In the end, the payoff is absolutely worth it.

    Base and clarity

The system is above and beyond what I expected with the clarity of the surround sound, enjoying my music and then that vibration through my body as the base comes through a pleasurable sound when trying to relax on the weekends thank you so much much blessings to all and family.

    Great aystem

The dragon dual 12” system is very impressive. Easy setup great sound quality easy to customize sound. The factory tech encouraged me to buy the dual vs the quad and recommended I come back for no extra overall cost to buy the two additional subs if I don’t feel I had enough bass with the dual system. I love the bass but can’t help but wonder what two additional 12” subs will add to the experience so I will be adding the two additional subs shortly. Strongly recommend this system whether you opt for 2 or 4 12” subs.

    Wow! impressive

watching regular tv shows i was shocked at how very low volume settings bring out the clarity of basic conversation. moving up, music even on youtube with a anemic 2.0 signal feed is a game changer, i’m guessing the DRAGON processing is the star here. When you do give it a 5.1 or Atmos signal stand back and prepare to be impressed.

    Requires Customization

I have read some reviews where people do not consider the Dragon 11-4-6 at the top when compared to others. I believe the problem is that they did not put in the effort to tweak the system to their room size. (?) Prior to the Dragon, I had a 5.1 surround sound wireless system and I was very happy with it, until I setup the Dragon and customized it to my 18' x 20' room. It took about 3 weeks, moving the rear speakers to different locations and moving the two 12" subwoofers to the back instead of the front. Also bringing down the subwoofers down to 170Hz to give it more separation from the mid-range frequency. The center mid-range level is two clicks higher than the others for cut-through clarity of the voice, and the four up-firing and rear up-firing match slightly higher to help carry the sound from the front-to-rear or rear-to-front. The treble level is down two-clicks. I sit 14 feet in front of the soundbar. The rear speakers are wall mounted 4' off the ground 18" from the sidewall and 8' behind me. The outer rears will bounce the sound off the wall to where I sit and the inner rears face the center of where I sit. In combination with using the measurements of my room, creates a sound experience that I have never experience before. I am AT the concert or IN the movie that I'm watching! I only watch 4K HDR movies on an OLED 84" TV and my favorite concert to watch is the 2005 Eagles Farewell Tour from Melbourne using the DTS-HD Master audio setting in surround sound. In Avatar 1 when those Pterodactyls flap their wings, you can almost feel the wind. People, you need to try the speakers in different locations first, in order to locate the best spot for them, and then try them at different sound levels for the sound effect that you are hearing, to make them work.

    Impressive system

Overall, I am extremely pleased with the system. For the price, I should be as at this level it should be a highly capable system. For the most part, it delivers. To begin, the system is extremely easy to set up. All of the speakers connected instantly and I have had zero issues since startup with any of the speaker. The subs are not over-powering, but I have not pushed them with a decent movie yet. I am used to SVS subs and that definitely are not on that level in my opinion, but still very capable subs. The system delivers on sound quality, although I do with it had software that allowed me to emphasize voice. I am older and hard of hearing so this is always the number one challenge with me and sound systems. But it is still very clear and one of the better systems I have own for voice clarity. The surround options are nice, although I do not notice a tremendous difference between the movie options. And on many of the choices, it seems as if the high end frequencies get nocked down in db which with my high frequency hearing loss is a negative. They also need to work on their packaging for the subs as UPS damaged both subs. But Nakamichi customer service deserves 5 stars as they took care of it immediately. So they definitely stand behind their product. Overall, 5 stars. It is expensive with the two subs, but it is also a significant step up to any sound bar system I have had in the past. It definitely rivals discreet sound system I have used with a separate processor, amp and speakers. Given its ease to set up and the fact that I did not have to run any wires to the speakers. this is a huge factor over a system with separates. This is a soundbar system that was design to compete with the high end separates. To me, there is nothing on the market in competitive soundbar systems that can touch it right now.

Dragon Delivers Exceptional Home Theater Experience

Lots of high points. Ordering was easy and the sale prices were consistent. Order of the system and two 12” subs, center channel wall mount, and rear stands came in quickly and no packaging damage. Unpacking was easy with no damage as everything was very well packed. Set up was extremely easy - all connected up as advertised. Took some room measurements, entered in my data and was off and running. Right off was how clear the dialog was. I’ve been getting used to running CC on my Sonos ARC because just couldn’t make out the dialog. Huge improvement from anything I’ve heard, including my expensive Paridigm AV set up from my old house. Second was how amazing the bass is on the system. Even at low volume levels, you can hear and feel it. Third was how clean the installation is. My Nvidia Shield and Magnetar UDP800 both hook up directly to the main Dragon unit and all else is wireless. I’m a big music fan and have found myself listening to some music and sounds very nice. Lastly, the entire package is just cool. The awesome orange branding in the subs, the large well build main unit and even the stands have DRAGON spelled out on them. I smile everytime I sit down to watch content. Some people comment that the system gets too loud. I appreciate the quality of sound at normal listening levels and that only gets better as you turn up the volume! I have turned down the bass when listening at higher levels by myself. Complaints are few. There was not a set up for my Magnetar UDP800 on the website and my dialog was running ahead of the video. Was able to modify that in the Dragon set up, but have never experienced that before. There is also no reason that this product doesn’t have over the air software updates. I did load the new firmware, but really?? While the sound is very immersive, I can’t sat that I can specifically hear the Atmos sound coming ceiling. Might just be the terrible content even on the 4k discs, but not really a complaint as the sound is just everywhere. I highly recommend the system and the two 12” subs are a must. You won’t regret the purchase and soon you’ll be having a full theater experience at home.

    Best surround speakers

After buying my Dragon set with two 12’ subs, I hardly go to the movies anymore. It’s like having your own cinema in your own home. After my brother in law heard them, he ended up buying one.

    Brings my media to life

I purchased my Dragon system a few months ago and ordered the two 12 inch subs with the system. The packaging was excellent and did not have any damage to the components. Also got the stands and the center channel mounting bracket. The physical set up was easy except for the center channel, but more trying to hide the wires and not the equipment. I initially ran the system without any adjustments to the system. Since then, I’ve entered in all the room dimensions and a few other minor adjustments. Was not an issue at all. So, how does it sound? The easy piece is the sub woofer performance. I’ve had a full home theater set up before and nothing compared to the Dragon. It moves you in your chair and I actually turn it down a little on some content to have a better balance. Others have commented on the clear dialog and that is definitely true. I use CC on my Sonos when I can’t make out the dialog and is frustrating. Not the case here! I paired my system with a Magnetar to see how it performed overall. I can’t say that I can identify the sound specifically around the room, but it is really immersive. Sound does come from everywhere and makes you pay attention to the TV content instead of playing a game on your phone! I didn’t want to wire a full system in the new house, so this turned out to be a great option. I’ve heard about the “brashness” or other negative comments on the system, but I’ve not really felt that in my set up. No doubt the sound is large and there is more volume that I can ever use. One item I did have to figure out was the dialog was running behind the video using the Magnetar 800. The set up allowed me to adjust the dialog and in sync now. So, really happy with the purchase and the 12 inch subs are definitely a game changer. My Sonos and its sub are no where close to what I get out of the Dragon. Enjoy the pics and anyone considering the Dragon just need to make the purchase and they won’t be disappointed.

    Have Been Pleasantly Pleased

I have been watching You Tube Videos about the DRAGON seen it has been out to buy and have been interested. I owned Samsung sound bar prior and not impressed by the sound coming out of the sound bar. It was an improvement over the TV speakers but not the sound coming from the DRAGON. Of course, I wasn't sure until I bought it and got it setup. I initially went by the reviews that I saw and read on-line. After I received it and set it up, I was Pleasantly Pleased by what I heard. I never play it very loud but the clear and crisp sounds and of course the two Bass woofers fill in the total sound even at low volume is impressive. The only thing is the boxes are very heavy and awkward to unbox due to the size and weight, after you get by that part setting up the sound system was a breeze. watching the Atmos Dolby movies is a great experience and just listening to Apple Music through the speaker is impressive, hearing other sounds you didn't pick up on my Samsung Sound bar. I haven't be disappointed yet.
