Wow, what an incredible enhancement to my Dragon system. Wish I had room for two subs, only had room for one and oh boy you can really feel and hear the difference.

Originally I purchased Shockwafe, loved it then stepped up to Dragon, unbelievable. Just added two twelve inch subwoofers. The sound is incredible absolutely filling the room with out the boom Surround effects listening to Top Gun Maverick again added a new dimension to the sound. This is absolutely a must buy! Thank you Nakamichi for such great products.

We’ve had some time to really put the Dragon through its paces now, and we absolutely love it. Adding the second pair of subs and running all four has been fantastic. The system has gone from sounding impressive to being a genuinely physical home-theater experience. The combination of hard-hitting SPL from the four subs and the tactile transducer in our seating makes the big moments something you feel through your whole body, not just hear. A few standouts so far have been War of the Worlds, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu. All three have been absolutely mind-blowing on the Dragon. War of the Worlds in particular is practically a demonstration disc for what this system can do, while Nosferatu showed just how immersive and atmospheric it can be when the soundtrack is doing something more subtle. We couldn’t be happier with the system. It has completely transformed our home theater, and yes, Inferno Mode gets used! Four subs may sound excessive on paper, but after living with them, there’s no going back. Thanks again to the Nakamichi team for building something this much fun.

If you want the absolute best sounding theater audio experience hands down Nakamichi 12 inch subs make you feel the movie and sound so crisp and clear even at low volume. Dont think about if you need them they are a must have ! Thank you Nakamichi for making such a beautiful sounding and looking audio system.

Pound for Pound - The BEST Surround System that exists for the money!!! Always a HUGE fan of Nakamichi engineering from the 80's with the auto-reverse tape decks. As an automotive engineer in Program Management, I value the clean design and simplistic approach. Well done - Cheers!

After spending significant time with the Nakamichi Dragon 11.4.6 system, I can confidently say it is one of the most impressive home theater experiences I have ever had in my own home. The Dragon delivers a level of scale, dynamics, and immersion that rivals many dedicated theater installations while maintaining exceptional ease of use. Right out of the box, the system creates a massive soundstage with remarkable channel separation. Dolby Atmos effects are rendered with pinpoint precision, producing a true three-dimensional acoustic environment. Sounds transition seamlessly across the room, and the overhead effects are genuinely convincing rather than simply sounding elevated. Dialogue reproduction is exceptionally clear and intelligible, even during the most demanding action sequences. What initially impressed me most was the Dragon's effortless dynamic range. Explosive movie scenes hit with tremendous impact, yet subtle details such as ambient environmental sounds, musical nuances, and low-level effects remain fully resolved. The system has extraordinary headroom and never sounds strained, even at reference-level listening volumes. The real transformation occurred when I added the modular 12" subwoofer. While the Dragon's bass performance was already impressive, the additional subwoofer elevated the entire system into true audiophile and cinema-reference territory. The low-frequency response became substantially deeper, tighter, and more authoritative. Rather than simply adding more bass, it improved bass articulation, transient response, and overall system integration. Movies now have a visceral tactile quality that was previously reserved for commercial theaters. Explosions, engine notes, and orchestral crescendos possess a physical presence that can be felt as much as heard. The added subwoofer dramatically increased low-frequency extension while simultaneously improving control, eliminating any sense of bloat or overhang. Bass notes start and stop with exceptional precision, creating a level of texture and detail that reveals nuances often lost in lesser systems. Music reproduction benefited just as much. The additional larger 12" subwoofer enhanced the foundation of the soundstage, allowing instruments to occupy a more realistic acoustic space. Kick drums have greater impact, bass guitars exhibit superior definition, and orchestral recordings possess a richer sense of scale and weight. The entire frequency spectrum sounds more coherent and effortless because the system has additional low-frequency headroom available. Perhaps most impressively, the Dragon with the 12" subwoofer creates a sense of immersion that consistently draws me into whatever I am watching or listening to. The combination of expansive imaging, precise localization, thunderous yet controlled bass, and exceptional clarity results in a truly reference-level home theater experience. I initially bought my set up at launch, 12's wasn't an option. I added 2 twelves and I'm floored! Great purchase, great product.

I purchased my dual 8" Dragon system in early '25 (I was a previous 9.2.4 Shockwafe owner as well) and from the time I got my Dragon set up, I was absolutely blown away. The performance of the Dragon over my amazing Shockwafe system was clearly apparent, the dragon was a massive upgrade in power, clarity, connectivity, etc...needless to say I was extremely happy with my purchase. I was toying with adding a 12" or 2x 12" modules at some point and decided to add a single 12" module in late '25. The Nak Dragon, with dual 8" subs was a powerhouse...adding a single 12" module was like supercharging a supercharger! The single 12" sub elevated my system to an entirely new level of power, punch, and detail. I placed the single 12" in my the front soundscape and kept my 8's in the back. My dual 8's shook my living room/downstairs area quite well, the powerful 750W 12" sub shakes my entire home! The amazing lows and room, no house, filling bass is at times more than just impressive - my Dragon has dropped more than a few jaws well showcasing my system to friends and family. At this point I was ecstatic and was honestly pretty content with a 3-sub setup..then the founder's day sale was run. Needless to say I absolutely jumped at the offer and picked up the fourth sub, my second 12" module! My four winged Dragon (dual 8's and dual 12's) is a house shifting, ground moving, thunder booming, BEAST! Adding the second 12" module yet again redefined my system! The Dragon brings you into everything you watch or listen to; from YouTube, to 4k Ultra Discs, to any streaming services, to normal commercials, to HD sporting events, etc..to literally every genre of music out there, it all sounds and hits better and harder on a quad-winged Dragon! Adding a single or dual 12' module is a night and day difference...hearing is believing. The dragon is a BEAST!

Nakamichi is putting movie theaters out of business. I will be waiting to watch Mandalorian & Grogu and The Odyssey and Super Mario and Toy Story 5 at home because my Nakamichi subwoofer gets me immersed like a theater sound system would. Thank you Nakamichi.

I've owned and heard a lot of high-end audio systems over the years, but the Nakamichi Dragon subwoofer is on an entirely different level. The bass is incredibly deep, powerful, and precise without ever sounding muddy or overwhelming. Whether I'm watching action movies, listening to music, or gaming, it delivers room-shaking impact while maintaining exceptional clarity and detail. What impressed me most is how effortlessly it reproduces low frequencies. You don't just hear the bass—you feel it. Explosions hit with cinematic force, drums sound incredibly realistic, and every soundtrack gains a new level of depth and immersion. Despite its immense power, the subwoofer remains tight, controlled, and musical. Simply put, the Nakamichi Dragon subwoofer transforms any room into a world-class theater experience. It's one of those rare products that exceeds the hype and leaves you smiling every time you turn it on. Absolutely phenomenal.

I have been blown away with the home theater experience this Nakamichi Dragon system offers. Our house has one of these open concept living room areas where the optimal spot for the tv is above a fireplace mantle where you have to look at an upward angle... slightly annoying but is sort of theater-esque in that regard. Anyway, I've been relegated to using wireless-type of systems due to the room layout, lack of storage and spacing so that we don't want wires laying everywhere. Up to now we've been rocking the Definitive 2.1 systems, a far cry from our last house where I had the space for bigger speakers, and components. Anyway, since everythings gotten so damn expensive to go out for entertainment, like $1000 concert tickets, I decided to take certain steps to make being at home as enjoyable as possible. Then I read about the Dragon last year, decided to take the plunge and haven't been disappointed. I started off with the dual 8" sub system, as it was a little less expensive of an entry point and knowing that it was a modular design that I could eventually have up to 4 12" subs, which is friggin insane btw. So After having the system for close to a year running the 8"s, on one hand I was very pleased with the overall sound quality, balance, even the bass... music sounds great! The thing it was missing to have the full theater experience was the low end rumble, you know the 19-20hz range. It was my plan to upgrade to at least 1 12" sub to fill the void. I was basically holding out for whatever the lowest price was, then the founder's sale dropped and I pulled the trigger. With the addition of the 12" sub, so that now am running a total of 3 subs has made such a transformation to the experience across movies, games, music.. and really gives such a precise low end punch. I keep reading about other users adding 2 12s, which seems ideal and I'll probably grab a 2nd 12" as well.

Adding just one 12 sub made a big different, the whole system feels different, with more power and immersion, is more cinematic. Highly recommended to add at least one 12 sub.

The original 8in subs were good but WOW am I blown away with the 12in subs. They’re large but definitely make my system feel like a true movie theater. So many scenes feel like you’re in the action and immersive. So glad I purchased, my friends faces are so funny to see when the action starts. Music is also a big plus. More deep tones and rumble. I might need to host a movie night monthly.

Have had my dragon dual 12” subwoofer system for a while but felt the bass could be better. I hesitated to add the upgrade of the 12” bundle due to price and concern it wasn’t going to add to the bass sufficiently to justify the purchase. When these were offered for a deeply discounted price I decided now was the time to give them a try. Not disappointed. Wish I had bought them from day one since they really fill in the bass in my large family room. While the original duals were good I just felt there was a gap that needed to be filled. With the quad system now in place I feel things are were they should be for that movie theatre experience. I am very happy with the whole package and encourage anyone who’s a bass fan to make this leap.

I love this subwoofer! Added this to my original 11.4.6 setup and it turned my movie viewing experience into 4D style experience!
