The Gopro Hero8 will drain batteries very quick! Nothing to be angry about when you are shooting 4k video and snapping pictures, but it will drain them. Be sure to pick up at least two extra batteries. I have 4 batteries myself and it keeps me rolling! These batteries have endured the Arizona summer heat, 100-118, and haven't lost life span. I shot a ton of 4k video in Tombstone and would swap out batteries I had on the charger in the vehicle which was HOT! I pull them out of the gopro and instantly throw them on charge, no issues. Just get yourself a few!

This new battery holds up well in comparison to the stock battery that came with my HERO7 Black and the dual battery + charger kit. I have noticed that these tend to last longer when recording in 1080p versus 4k probably due to how much less the GoPro needs to work during each recording session. These still suffer from the battery draw as the original batteries when not in use or not stored in the charger kit. The blue is a nice touch compared to the all black older units.

I needed an extra battery for my travel kit. I prefer oem brands

I like taking video with my GoPro hero 8. And one genuine battery that I bought on Amazon swallowed so I bought replaced battery at BestBuy and this one still really good shape to use! (I took this picture just few minutes ago)

I tried a couple knock off batteries and they were awful. Either they only lasted minutes or they disabled features on my HERO8. Buy the OEM battery. Save yourself time and don't waste money on the knockoffs.

I recently purchased this battery and I'm thrilled with my purchase. This battery delivers exceptional performance, lasting through long hours of continuous use. It charges quickly and holds its charge for an impressive amount of time. Additionally, the price I paid was extremely reasonable, making it an excellent value for money. I highly recommend this battery for all your power needs!

Although the earlier black top GoPro batteries will work with your new Hero 8, to get the full features, you will need the Blue Top battery for it's improved internals. Why? Quite simply, this battery has higher power than previous black top batteries. What to expect...Flawless performance and full functionality of your GoPro Hero 8. Yes, the Blue Top also works in the older models that take the early Black Top batteries. So Mix them up or upgrade to all Blue Tops for your GoPro Action Cameras. Don't ask if it fits your Camera or works in your camera. From the Hero 5 through the 8, this is your battery upgrade.

Exactly what i was looking to for to purchase. These new batteries last a very long time and charge easy. The quality of the GoPro brand is superior to the ones you can get that will work with GoPro but not OEM. And these are only a few dollars more. I have found it worth the added expense to get good batteries.

So as far as the hero action Cam serious, these are pretty much the flagship batteries and they work very well. You basically need these for the hero 8 if you want to use the super stabilization mode that they have. Other batteries just wont-work as far at that feature goes but otherwise they will work in any other GoPro. They seem to last a little bit longer than your regular GoPro Hero series action cam so if it's not much for you to cough up $20 I would recommend getting these for your hero 7's hero 6's and hero 5 GoPros.

Always good to have backups for cameras and drones. Latest GoPor battery does much better longevity and fast charging.

You said to replace the bad GoPro battery worked like a charm

Works great, as expected. Will fit Hero 5 or newer, I believe. We used it with the Hero 8 on our last dive trip and only changed batteries after 2 dives (each around an hour), but never got close to draining it. However, I definitely recommend getting a couple spares (in addition to the one that comes with the camera) so you always have fresh ones to swap out. This is even more important if you are using it while skiing or other cold weather activities as cold will drain them faster.

The new GoPro battery is a higher voltage battery with the same mah rating as the old battery. It's required for some of the higher frame rate functions on the new GoPro 8. It has exactly the same form factor as the Hero7 Black battery and can be interchanged in spite of the higher voltage. It does seem to last a little longer in the Hero 7 than the original battery. If you're going to get an extra battery for a Hero8, or even the Hero7 Black, this is the one to get

Bottom line that if you just have one battery for your GoPro8, you're doing yourself a disservice! I burn through my batteries using my GoPro for SCUBA and other outdoor activities, My rule is 2 additional back ups. You don't want to run out of juice on that second or third dive when you run into a shark, eagle ray or a dolphin!
