I removed my old Windows 7 and replaced it with a clean install of this WIndows 8.1. I could not be more happier. With a matching 120GB SSD hard drive for it, boot up and shutdown are less than 10 seconds. I configured it to look like Windows 7 since I love the old interface. And it worked. It has everything I need for my home desktop PC. I will not be upgrading to Windows 10 anytime soon as I don't see any major benefit to it for my own application.

It installed fast and seemed like a good OS at first, but then later on it would crash and I would have to reboot. I installed all the updates but it keeps happening. Sometimes when I boot up my PC the screen will just be the color purple and it stays like that until I press a key. Whatever key I press it just turns the screen to blue. If I press any other key then it goes back to purple. This doesn't go away and I have to reboot yet again. Another downside is the whole new redesigned interface. As you probably have heard, its not very popular, and rightly so. Everybody was used to the past Windows that were all generally alike. This new design is difficult to get accustomed to and at first YOU CAN'T FIND ANYTHING YOU WANT. It took me like half an hour to find control panel and other things. Overall, its not worth it for the price. I would definitely get Windows 7 Premium over Windows 8.

This takes a lot to get used to. Updating from Windows XP to this has been a challenge. The look is so drastic and the interface is much changed, I have to relearn how to do the simple tasks mastered with the previous versions.

Fairly easy to install and if you change some settings it works more like a computer with windows 7 and less like a touchscreen

I find that I have to constantly optimize & clean it's registry to keep the computer operating, otherwise, it tends to operate sporadically..jerky like.

Built a new computer using my old Alienware Chassis and existing ATX OEM 1000 watt power supply. Purchased Gigabyte X99 Gaming 5P motherboard, Intel i7-5820K processor, Seaagte 1TB internal SATA hybrid hard drive, LG 16x Blue Ray disk drive, 4x Crucial 16GB DDR4-2133 memory cards, CPU Fan LGA 2011, XFX AMD Radeon R9 390 8GB graphics card, Windows 8.1 64 bit operating system, and Logitech MK710 Wireless keyboard and mouse($2020.15). Everything works perfectly.

Windows 8 is a great operating system but its is worth saving up for the full version.

I ran into a little problem using the default settings for my 3TB hard drive but after reinstalling and formatting the hard drive differently it was fine.

Great product. Some people don't like windows 8.1 because it is new and different. It's time to break out of the old operating systems and try something new. The desktop works like a phone app. It has all your favorite programs at the click of a button and organized how you like them. If you don't like that you can go to classic mode and then it's the same operating system it has always been.

Excellent price for Windows 8.1. The installation is quick and seamless. Hardware drivers were mostly found automatically, outside of some specialty drivers from newer, high-end hardware. The interface is pretty great, althoughIt can be a bit intimidating at first. The start screen is actually a pretty useful adaptation of the familiar start menu. Once you unpin the programs you don't use and get it organized, you'll love the start screen in no time. If you can't find a file, a program, or a feature, simply go to the start screen and start typing the name of what you're looking for - like magic, it well appear to the right side of the screen. Power users, try right-clicking the start button (or ctrl+x). You're welcome. The Geek Squad even has some great resources for Windows 8: http://www.geeksquad.com/windows-8/
