As a first time DLSR user this camera has been pretty easy to use for a novice when set to automatic. I'm not very fond of the Auto Focus but the manual focus is fairly easy and fast to use. The shutter speed is fairly decent as well. Now as for the photos...the photos are excellent. I have been pleasantly surprised at the quality of photos that can be captured with ONLY what comes in the box and no other shooting accessories. Battery life is decent, but a higher capacity back up battery is recommended for a photo shoot surpassing 2+ hours. I have experienced some photos taken being lost or non-retrievable, but I have to chalk that up more to my extremely green inexperience with Pro Photography. This camera is good for the novice who likes to tinker a little bit, or the professional photographer. I like it a lot. For advanced shooting I would recommend a higer end camera with wifi uploading and an adjustable screen.

We bought the camera for our long planned Alaskan cruise. I like this camera, it's easy to hold and operate. The settings (landscape, portrait etc) display on the screen so I don't have to rely on looking at the dial. The pictures have been really nice, one could always use a bigger telephoto but these images were sharp.. I was concerned about the battery but it lasted over a week of use before charging. The case is not too big to carry. I'd buy this again.

This is my fifth digital camera, not counting smartphone, but first DSLR. Preceeding ones were two Nikon Coolpix and two Cannons "point and shoot." I bought the Rebel just before a trip to Hawaii, and I was concerned that I would struggle to learn it quickly enough to reliably use it. Not to worry. I used it landscape, closeups of flowers, rapid fire mode for crashing crazy surf, video mode, and the 300 mm telephoto as well. It worked just great. It allows one to use full automation of focus, aperture, and shutter settings, or various levels of manual control. Seems to have really good battery life, too. I definitely want to add more lenses for closeups and a bigger telephoto. After successful, but disappointing, experiences with the previous four cameras, I am blown away by this one. Don't forget to get UV filters for all lenses for dirt and scratch protection.

I bought this for a trip I'm attending in Hawaii in September, so I wanted to play with it alittle to learn all about it, (which is very simple if you just really study the camera lingo & watch YouTube videos), and photographed my sister & daughter and it has turned into a part time gig through college. If you have an eye for photos & are willing to learn in manual mode it's fantastic for a beginner photographer. BUT if your just buying for family fun & vacations its top of the line and will give you outstanding photos.

I LOVE this camera! I was looking for a decent camera that i could use that gave me both manual and automatic focus, with interchangeable lenses, with many options and i got it! It takes a little bit of time to learn all the different options and buttons but for someone who is really just starting out, its amazing.

This is a great camera at a very reasonable price. Easy to use with the automatic settings but very expandable use for professional camera users. I have a lot to learn about this camera. Has been used by the entire family.

I bought this Camera set up to take senior pictures of my daughter. I figured by the time I paid a pro plus for photos, I'd be just as well off to spend a bit more and get a camera too. I'm soooo glad I did! My daughter and her friend ended up with fantastic pictures and a great memory. The photos were as good as a pro and customized, edited easily and I could provide a memory stick for her friend to take home. I've also used the camera to capture wildlife. Very crisp close ups, so close I could see a humming bird's tongue! My daughter will now be taking it to college for a photo class.

I even purchased an extra 40mm lens to go with the set and I am loving it. I am a beginner and still have a lot to learn but I am loving the journey! I had always been interested in photography and when I moved to the PNW I wanted to up my picture game. This camera does it all. If you are worried about it be too complicated, don't be. There are plenty of point and shoot settings that will allow you to take amazing photos right off the bat while you take the time to learn some of the more advanced settings. I take this camera everywhere. The addition of the zoom lens makes this a great buy. Invest in a tripod and a good backpack style camera bag.

The cannon T5 is a great camera for beginners. The body is the perfect shape for 1 hand use and has plenty of grip so you know you have a hold of the camera in all situations. I would buy this product again

I was extremely impressed with the extra lens that came with the camera and with the adjustable focus. I've had it for two months and have gotten beautiful pictures.

I bought this camera to replace two other cameras. This item was on sale, and although I've never owned a Canon camera, I honestly can say for the price, it's well worth it. Took shots in (basic darkness) at holiday parade, and was very, very, pleased with the outcome and quality of those shots. I would definitely recommend this camera, for any beginner or intermediate photographer.

I really like this bundle. I was able to get started on photography. The zoom lens can take a decent close-up picture of the moon.
