This is a classic vampire movie, my wife and I love it! If you're a fan of vampire movies (by that I mean, Interview with a Vampire, Lost Boys, Bram Stoker's Dracula, NOT that pathetic kids movie Twilight, which is frankly an insult to the genre), then you'll love this movie! It has great action and intensity, a great plot, and great acting (Bill Paxton, Lance Henriksen). This is a great film for TRUE vampire movie lovers. I highly recommend it!

Near Dark is not the most known about movie with it coming out the same year as "The Lost Boys" you could say it barely survived the '80s. But there are those who remember and love this movie. If you are wondering what i meant on the "what's great" section by saying "if you have an open mind" I meant because the story line is very similar to Stephanie Meyers' book Twilight and now the movie. Im not going to say that she ripped off the movie but i will say it's a very odd coincidence. Anyways if you enjoyed The Lost Boys and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the series) you will love this movie. The only thing is, is that there are barley any extras and Lionsgate designed the cover which looks like it's supposed to aim at twilight fans or something.

This was a great movie, a classic from the 80s! This film should be placed on the shelf next to films like The Lost Boys. (You can take that silly kids movie Twilight, and place it with the Disney movies.) Near Dark is appreciated by REAL horror and vampire movie lovers. This is a must own! (By the way, I have the copy with the original cover, not that wanna-be Twilight cover. That's an insult to the film.) Also, the lady that wrote the book Twilight, her plot is very similar to this. (I'm just sayin'.)

This movie is way before it's time in regards to today's Vampire action genre. It's the cast from Aliens in a vampire movie along with one of the actors from the TV show Heros way before the series. While everyone was raving about the "Lost Boys" "Near Dark" was heads and sholders better than the Lost Boys.

Just one correction: The soundtrack is by TANGERINE DREAM not Christopher Franke (Which used to be in Tangerine Dream) If the blu-ray has the commentary like the regular dvd, Kathleen speaks of going to Germany to visit TDream for the soundtrack. This really is a good film
