        Study, Hardworking Little Switch

YSK: This is literally the most simple (in the best way) managed switch I have ever used. It perfectly straddles the line between managed and unmanaged and is a tough little thing too. My home wired network is not huge, and as such setting up a full network rack and cabinet would be excessive (and also I don't have space for that). More importantly though, this switch is a tough piece of hardware. Despite attempts to find a better location, the best place in my house for this switch is just inside of my attic. Living in Oklahoma, that means that its exposed to 100F+ summers and 0F- winter temperatures, as well as a fair amount of dust, dirt, and whatever the heck else is blowing through the wind here. Whomever designed this clearly thought that it might be placed somewhere like my attic, and as such it has not shown the least amount of wear, odd behavior, or any other concern for its environment. I feel I would be hard pressed to find another switch that could equally meet that challenge, especially one larger, and would gladly just add another one of these to my network if needed instead of choosing something different. Can't recommend enough. Buy the Netgear managed switch. It is worth it!

        Geeat price, smooth setup,and capable

I needed VLAN support for a small network project, and I honestly didn’t expect much at this price point—but the Netgear GS108Ev4 surprised me in the best way. Setup was fast and painless using the web GUI, and I had VLANs configured and my network segmented in minutes, even behind a dedicated firewall. It’s been running without a single hiccup since. For the money, this thing punches way above its weight. Definitely worth grabbing if you need simple VLAN support without going full enterprise. ⸻ For My Fellow Techies – What Stood Out • 802.1Q VLAN Support – I was expecting basic functionality, but it handles tagged VLANs without any weird limitations. Perfect for keeping IoT, lab, and production traffic separated. • QoS & Rate Limiting – You can prioritize traffic and apply bandwidth controls per port. Super handy if you’re testing traffic shaping or isolating chatty devices. • Port Mirroring – Didn’t think I’d find this on a budget switch, but here it is. Great for packet captures or IDS testing on a budget. • Link Aggregation (LAG) – Supports basic port trunking, which is great if you want to push a little more bandwidth between core devices. • Silent, Metal Build – No fans, solid feel, and doesn’t add noise to the rack or desk setup. • Web GUI Management – Nothing fancy, but clean and functional. You won’t need a PhD in networking to figure it out. Honestly, for small labs, home setups, or anyone doing light segmentation, this thing just works. It’s not going to replace an enterprise-grade switch, but for what it is, it’s impressiv
