If you have a DX format camera this lens picks up where your 18-55 mm kit lens leaves off. PROS: At 55-300 mm it is the least expensive 300 mm lens option Nikon makes. The next option for this much magnification for the DX cameras is a penny shy of $1000.00 so for $400 bucks this lens looks pretty good. I have used mine to shoot both wildlife outside at long range and my granddaughters High School graduation inside without flash at about 50 ft. with outstanding picture quality in both situations. The lens has a pleasantly soft bokeh, allowing your subject to stand out against the background. All in all, I could find very little to complain about as far as photo quality goes for a lens at this price point. CONS: The lens shade on this lens is a snap on with 2 buttons to depress in order to engage or disengage the shade on the lens, and not of the more common bayonet type. It is a little finicky when popping it on or off. Summary: This is a very good lens for the money and I have no regrets about purchasing it.

Overall very good lense, at 55-300 it's a good walkaround camera if you are outside and your photo isn't of something closer than 4ft. I take pictures of aircraft so it has worked amazingly for me. The glass let's in good amounts of light for those night time exposures. Recommend a 58mm uv filter to protect the lens.

I really like my new Nikon 55-300 Telephoto Zoom Lens! If you can I would get this lens. Its great for events with a lot going on around you at different distances. Puts you rite where you want to be.

I love this lens. I get excellent quality photographs of my son playing college baseball. I also use it for photographing wildlife. I am able to get beautiful shots using this lens. Well worth every penny.

I have taken some great pictures with this lense and it's light weight and easy to carry.

Used for my first real use of the camera at the airshow. Took great pics for an inexperienced user. Brought me right up close to the planes even though I was pretty far away!

Bought this lens to stop using my kit lens to get better photos. I like to take landscape photos and wanted to get closer to my subject. This lens did just that and my photos are now amazing. I don't even need to make so many adjustments in my photo editing software.

Im so happy i brought this lens for my safari trip. I have bad vision so it helped me see things far away and it helped me capture clear pictures. I was so surprised at the pictures I got with this lens.

Great lens, had the 200mm lens and this one is worth the extra cost. Absolutely love this lens. Great for closeups of animals, your still far enough away to get a great picture without the animal reacting to you.

I bought this lens through the recommendation of a friend but then did research of my own. I have already used it extensively and am very pleased with the results. I was able to buy the lens in store and I was in and out in no time at all.
