Purchased this camera before a beach vacation in Florida. The wife wanted a water resistant camera that was small enough to fit in her small purse. We did a little research and came up with this camera. I will say it work well. It is small enough to be carried in a purse or cargo pocket of shorts. It delivers on the waterproof and was fully underwater many times in the pool and ocean. No problems. The underwater pics were clear and without much distortion. Color of the pictures were very good for a point and click. I took very good low light pics at sunset. It does have several settings for pre-programmed scenes. We used it on auto detect setting most of the time. My only beef with the camera was some blurring on motion shots but most of these were taken on auto detect mode and not under sports setting. We also purchased a backup battery and additional memory card but only used the backup battery once. Battery life was better then I had expected. Overall worth the investment and would recommend if you are in need of a point and shot in a wet environment.

I bought this camera for a recent one week sailing and snorkelling trip. The camera worked very well in most conditions. There are some issues with the auto white balance especially when using the flash, but nothing too distracting as my purpose was not flash photography. Most of the daylight photos, videos and underwater imagery is pretty good. Took the camera to 10-12 feet depth without any issues. The only disappointing feature is that the battery is tiny (only 1050mAh theoretically). If you use the tele/wide feature, it consumes the tiny battery very rapidly. One recharge lasts only 2-3 hours (about 150 pictures and 10 min video). Also if you store the battery in the camera, it looses the charge at a fairly fast rate. So store the battery out of the camera, when not in use and if you do not have access to recharging. Carrying a spare battery is a must. We were lucky to have recharging ability in our sailboat, else the trip would have been sour. I had a spare battery (same as the original one) and had to recharge both batteries almost everyday. Another negative is that you have to use the camera to charge the battery through the micro-usb. If you do not have a spare battery charger (can be bought separately from a third party), then the camera is occupied to charge your battery. Nikon should have thought of a larger/better battery for the best use of this good little camera. That is why I give it 4 stars.

We bought this camera to take on a cruise. I wanted something waterproof and of course that takes great pictures. This camera does a nice job on both fronts. The menus on the camera are endless so you need to spend some time getting familiar with the camera before you begin using it. If you're looking for a simple point and shoot, this probably isn't it, but probably easier than your SLR (and waterproof to boot). I would purchase it again.

Took on Hawaii trip and used underwater 6X snorkeling. Easy to use, good zoom. Nikon wi-fi transfer software does not xfer video. Otherwise wi-fi xfer quick and easy. Good battery life.

I bought this camera to replace an old point and shoot camera. I originally purchased a GoPro and while the GoPro does a superior job with action video, it is really not intended to be a general purpose camera. The Nikon AW130 is just that. I took it to Hawaii and took many great pics and videos, in, around, and under water. The camera is waterproof just as advertised (make sure to get a float strap). Takes great pics and the video is good as well. It did fall short of a GoPro's video quality when it was mounted to an ATV. There were a few wavy portions of video compared to a GoPro, but if you're not going to be using it in that kind of environment, the video is still very nice.

My family were going to a trip and two weeks before I started investigating about a waterproof camera, very easy to use and a lot of extras. This camera was the chosen one. The price justifies the purchase. The camera brings a compass, wifi, records without any transitions and the pictures are great. Great choice to our family and I hope it will to yours.

We bought the camera based on ease of use, availability, & previous product reviews. After purchase we "played" with it prior to a cruise & found it easier to use than expected. You do need the app for the wireless transfer & the app isn't available for iPad but it is for iPhones. The underwater clarity is great!!! Auto focus for click & shoot pics is very easy & very helpful when taking pics quick (especially under water). I do not regret this purchase!

Got this camera for a snorkeling trip that didn't happen but I did take it in the swimming pool, so yes, its indeed waterproof. There are quite a lot of features that I'm still exploring but so far it's very easy to use and the pictures are great quality with brilliant color.

Bought day before going to Hawaii. Wanted to take pics while snorkeling mainly. Worked well on auto setting. Took videos of dancers at a luau. Picks up audio also. Good overall pics. Need time to sit and devour the manual (on-line, not happy about that) but all in all a really easy camera to operate. More features that I may ever use. Well worth the money.

Survived our trip to Canada. Canoed 65 miles and 17 portages during our 7 day trek and I used it every day - 731 pictures. Above water and underwater pictures look great!

I bought this camera for a trip. I didn't want to bring our Eos, because of space. This little pocket gem takes great pics, has gps and with an iOS app, can be controlled by an iPhone.

I bought the Nikon AW130 about a year ago and used it during a 3 month visit to the country of Belize. I used the camera to capture under water shots as well as a number of normal shots of people and nature. The quality came out wonderful even when I zoom in the quality remains great. I decided to purchase another aw130 as I prepared to visit Dominican Republic for an extended stay in a few weeks.

I took this on my cruise of the Eastern Carabian. It took great pics. and video underwater. This is all I did with this camera. I didn't take pics. above water with it, but I'm sure it would do great. I used my Nikon D7100 for that.

This is my second one. First one got a slight crack in it after couple years of use. This issue was addressed in my reviews of the latest version. Pictures are great. There are a lot of features and will require some studying, but point and shot works super easy

To bad this camera is discontinued. We took 2 of them on a 7 day 188 mile white water rafting trip down the Grand Canyon. The AW130 worked well under really wet, dusty, sandy, dropped several times and kept on working for photos and video.

My biggest...only concern...was, would this little recreational camera go deep and hold up. There were a lot of marketing claims, but very few actual testimonies. The answer is YES. Dove with it for a week, 11 dives to depths of 80+/- feet in Cozumel. Kept it in a pocket of my BCD on every dive, taking it out when I wanted to get a shot and putting it back when not in use. Took over 100 pictures and 4 videos. Performed flawlessly, with easy to change settings on the fly. At the end of the week, battery bar still showed 100%. I didn't charge it once. No, I didn't go to 100 feet, but at 80+, I was satisfied. Would be nice to have a red filter to compensate for red loss at depth and there may be a setting for that. I'll look around. But a great little camera if used and maintained PROPERLY.

I was pleased with the overall performance of this camera. For the size and all the functions like underwater video & photos. For the price it's great!

I wanted a camera that could take pictures underwater, that would be easy to operate, and which had wifi capabilities. The reviews of the Nikon and similar cameras all had reviewers that had underwater failures but the Nikon owners described positive support from Nikon so I bought the Nikon. The camera worked well. I was only snorkeling so I probably never got deeper than 15 feet. The pictures were in focus even though I was typically working hard to keep from rising back to the surface. I had no trouble with condensation or any signs of water penetrating the camera body. I also took a lot of pictures on the ship and shore. The camera is lightweight and was easy to carry. The battery life was never an issue for me but I typically would charge it after using it each day. The wifi was a huge plus. It was simple and quick to upload pictures to my phone for sharing over the internet. The only thing I'd like to see improved is a bit more telephoto. None of the cameras in the class had significantly more telephoto but there were some shots I would have liked to have more telephoto. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase! If I had to do it over, I'd buy the Nikon again.

Sales Associate number 766580 answered a simple question that sold me on the camera and did a price match. I left Best Buy a happy customer. That was just the start. I took the camera to the Bahamas for a sailing/snorkeling trip and the camera performed flawlessly. My pictures in and out of the water turned out great. The Nikon Coolpix AW130 deserves all the rave reviews it has received. Great camera!! And great service from Best Buy!
