From the first shot, I could tell this lens far superior to any lens I have shot in the past...going back to 1980! Backgrounds are completely blown apart. The perfect lens for portraits as well as low light/night shooting. The 85mm f/1.2 is now my everyday carry on my Z9.

If you’re looking at this lens, you know why you want/need it. I’m using this on my Z8 and occasionally on my Z6. Autofocus is extremely good and fast on the Z8. The renders from this lens are extremely beautiful. The color rendition, contrast, and SHARPNESS this lens produces are incredible! Yes, it is very expensive. Yes, it is chody. But what you get from it is an extremely fast lens and when paired with any Z body, the images you get from it are absolutely beautiful. I have not used the 85mm 1.8 to compare it to but if you’re on a budget, that makes more financial sense. Will you get similar images. Likely very close. And when you factor in the price of the 1.2, you can get the 35mm 1.8, 50mm 1.8, and 85mm 1.8 for less than the cost of the 1.2. However, if you’re using it for pro work then this in my opinion is a no brainer. Especially if you have the option to use your BestBuy card with 0% interest. The photo of the horse is shot at 1.2 with slight adjustments. The singer is also shot at 1.2 straight out of camera at 1.2, ISO 1000 & 1/250 in a VERY dim environment.
