A fantastic option for starting out and is super versatile

I was using the GoPro Hero 12 for vlogging and upgraded to this and it was a huge improvement. The autofocus is very nice and colors and clarity are awesome for this price range. Would highly recommend if you're looking to get an upgraded vlog camera and stop using your phone.

The creator kit is pretty awesome, however; I had intended to use this to record videos in 4k but it overheats at about the 30 minute mark. I read that using a dummy battery would help keep the device from overheating but regardless of whether I use a D-Tap battery to Dummy batter OR an AC adapter powered battery the camera still overheats with minimal improvement in shooting time. Once it overheats you can cycle on/off to get a couple more 5-7 minutes of recording before it stops turning and having to wait for it to cool.

Stabilization is terrible. Not great for vlogging or anywhere you are going to be moving around a lot. My phone and GoPros do a way better job. Other than that the camera is not bad and still video on tripods isn’t bad. Don’t think it is marketed to the right people.

The Nikon Z30 is an incredibly capable camera for its price. The 4k video is captured without a crop, and the quality is very good. The APS-C sensor captures plenty of light in most situations, and is the best I have experienced without stepping up to a larger and more expensive full frame sensor (36mm x 24mm). The kit lens gets the job done, and has pretty decent quality across its range. Unlike a lot of other camera in the sub-$1,000 range, the kit lens allows you to get useably wide video. Photo/video gear is one of those things where you can always spend more. But, if the Z30 is what fits i to your budget; you will be pleasantly surprised with the build quality, ergonomic design, and excellent output. I use the Z30 professionally…I had a limited budget for new gear, and after a great deal of research and hands-on demos; I decided the Z30 was the right choice. It still is.

We are ecstatic. This was purchased for our museum for staff to film short videos, but the photo quality is incredible. Highly recommended.
