Customer Ratings & Reviews

I've had the Splatoon Pro Controller since it came out and wanted an upgrade for Switch 2. This was great. It is way lighter and I would say quitter when clicking. The controller itself is pretty smooth to hold. It has 2 extra buttons on the grips. It is also nice to be able to turn on the console (and therefore TV) by just holding the power button on the controller (since Switch 1 controllers can't do that for Switch 2). Overall, definitely recommend. Wish there was a nice variety of designs to choose from, but this is still great.

I can say that the Switch 2 Pro Controller is an absolute game-changer! The build quality feels solid and lighter, with perfectly responsive buttons and improved analog sticks that make gameplay smooth and precise. The enhanced battery life and comfortable grip make long gaming sessions effortless. It connects instantly and works flawlessly across with all the games I played thus far. Overall, it’s the perfect blend of comfort, performance, and durability — a must-have upgrade for any serious Switch gamer!

As a Best Buy customer who snagged the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller for $84.99, I’ve been putting it through its paces with my Switch 2, and it’s mostly a game-changer—though not without a couple of quirks. Here’s my honest review after a week of intense gaming. Comfort and Build: Feels Like a Dream Right out of the box, this controller feels premium. The texture is smooth but grippy, and it’s super comfortable for my hands, even during marathon sessions of Zelda and MarioKart. It’s lighter than I expected but still feels solid, like it could survive a few accidental drops (not that I’m testing that!). The thumbsticks are incredibly smooth—probably the best I’ve used on any controller—and the buttons have a satisfying click. The only oddity is the Y button; it feels a bit shallow compared to the others, which threw me off in fast-paced games at first. Features: Packed with Cool Extras This thing is loaded with features. The HD2 rumble is awesome—it’s like I can feel every crash or explosion in-game, almost as good as my friend’s PS5 controller. The motion controls are spot-on for games like Splatoon, and I love the new capture button for quick screenshots. The mappable GL/GR buttons on the grips are a nice touch for customizing controls, especially in competitive games. Plus, the audio jack is a lifesaver for late-night gaming with my headset. The amiibo reader built-in is handy, and the battery lasts forever—I haven’t charged it in days. Performance: Mostly Flawless The analog sticks and improved D-pad are fantastic. I had no issues pulling off precise moves in Tetris 99 or navigating menus. It’s a huge upgrade from the Joy-Cons for docked play. That said, I noticed some lag when using it wirelessly in my crowded apartment—maybe it’s my Wi-Fi setup, but it’s worth mentioning. Wired mode works perfectly, though. Value: Worth It, But Not Cheap At $84.99, it’s a bit steep, especially since the Joy-Cons are already included with the Switch 2. But for someone like me who plays mostly docked, the comfort and precision make it worth every penny. If you’re a casual gamer, you might not need it, but for enthusiasts, it’s a no-brainer. Best Buy’s return policy gave me peace of mind, and the staff were super helpful when I had questions about setup. Final Thoughts The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is a must-buy for serious gamers. It’s comfy, feature-packed, and makes every game feel better. The Y button quirk and occasional wireless hiccups are minor annoyances, but they don’t ruin the experience. If you’re picking it up at Best Buy, check for any bundle deals or Geek Squad protection for extra value. Pros: Super comfortable, smooth thumbsticks, awesome rumble, long battery life, cool customization options. Cons: Pricey, Y button feels off, minor wireless lag in some setups.

This controller is great. It may be expensive but it's worth it. The joy cons aren't bad, but the Pro controller is a game changer. The thumbsticks, d-pad, and buttons all feel nice. It feels great in the hand and the battery life is very long. I'm knocking 1 star off just because it is a little expensive. Very happy with my purchase though.

Very nice quality controller. The joysticks are very smooth and there is haptic feedback on the ZL and ZR buttons, which is just my personal preference. It also connects really fast to the Switch 2 and the battery lasts a long time. I think it is slightly smaller than other 3rd party controllers that I’ve had, but that’s ok since I have smaller hands.

Started researching controllers around the time of buying the Switch 2. One review stated this is the best controller they’ve ever used. After reading and watching several reviews, I decided to purchase this controller. Fast forward almost 7 months later and I can confirm this controller has a lot to like about it, in fact as of this review I have purchased a second one of these controllers (it’s that good). - Battery life is excellent -Weight and ergonomics of this controller are great -Controller is very responsive and great for playing sports games that require accuracy -Compatibility with Switch 2 -Setup is quick and easy I highly recommend this controller even for casual gameplay. The price is expensive, but the quality, battery life, and ergonomics are well worth it!

The Nintendo Switch Pro Controller is an absolute must-have upgrade that completely transforms the standard console experience into a premium, comfortable gaming session. Its traditional asymmetrical design and full physical directional pad offer incredible precision and tactile responsiveness, providing a substantial, ergonomic grip that feels natural during hours of extended play. It packs all the essential built in features like highly responsive gyro motion controls, full Near Field Communication support for scanning amiibo figures, and immersive game specific HD Rumble haptics that add real depth to your gameplay. The true standout is the phenomenal rechargeable battery life, which delivers up to forty hours of continuous use on a single Type C charge so you rarely have to worry about running out of juice mid game.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller feels great in hand and is a big step up in comfort. The buttons are responsive, the sticks are smooth, and it works perfectly for longer gaming sessions. Battery life has been excellent, and overall it just feels premium and reliable. Definitely worth it if you want a better gameplay experience.

This is the smoothest feeling controller I've ever used, but it better be for $85. It's pretty comfortable in the hands, and it connects effortlessly. It also has a good battery life. It also has a better d-pad than the original switch pro controller with the inclusion of the back buttons, which are incredibly easy and intuitive to program. This is a good controller. I don't regret buying it. It is a decent upgrade over the original in my opinion. If you have $85 burning a hole in your pocket, this is a good way to use it.

This controller is expensive BUT it’s worth the money. Battery life is excellent. Headphone jack built in. Includes additional buttons that can be programmed for each game you play and it easily saves your preferences. The sticks are extremely smooth, and whisper quiet. Buttons and feel is fantastic. Doesn’t feel sweaty in the hands. One of the best controllers I’ve ever owned.

Works wonders, is definitely an upgrade from the Switch Pro Controller. The sticks feel smooth, the buttons feel nice, and the added function of the back buttons is very appreciated

I started off with a third-party Switch 2 controller, and I thought it was pretty good at first. But once I picked up the official Switch 2 Pro Controller, I immediately understood the difference. The controller feels so good in my hands and is incredibly comfortable, especially when I’m playing for a long time. The buttons feel smooth and satisfying to press, the controls are responsive, and everything feels really precise while playing. It also has a nice weight to it that makes it feel high-quality without being uncomfortable. Honestly, once I started using this controller, I could never go back to my old one. It just makes playing on the Switch 2 feel so much better overall. From the comfort to the controls to how solid the controller feels, I’m extremely happy with it. It’s easily one of my favorite controllers I’ve ever used.

Easily the best controller for the switch two when your playing dock mode. Sit comfortable in hand, battery seems last while, and not heavy at all. Seems to standup my 6 and 3 yr old abuse good.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is a big upgrade. The build quality is outstanding — the buttons and joysticks feel more premium compared to previous versions. It’s very comfortable to hold, and the battery life is impressive. I’ve been using it for long gaming sessions without needing to recharge. Highly recommended for serious players looking for a better experience.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller isn’t just a peripheral—it’s a statement of intent. For players who demand tactile precision, ergonomic comfort, and thoughtful design, this controller delivers in spades. Design & Build Quality From the first grip, the controller feels like a natural extension of your hands. The matte finish is smooth without being slippery, and the slightly slimmer profile compared to its predecessor makes long sessions more comfortable. The dual-tone aesthetic—subtle gray accents on a black chassis—adds a touch of understated sophistication. Performance & Responsiveness The analog sticks are silky smooth, offering tight control with minimal resistance. Whether navigating tight corners in Mario Kart or executing frame-perfect combos in Street Fighter, the feedback is consistent and reliable. The enlarged face buttons and improved D-pad are responsive without being overly sensitive, striking a balance that feels intuitive. Smart Features Nintendo finally added a 3.5mm headphone jack—an overdue but welcome addition. The built-in mic and GameChat button streamline multiplayer communication, and the programmable rear buttons are a thoughtful nod to competitive players who want more control without clutter. What’s Missing It’s not perfect. The lack of Hall Effect sensors means stick drift could still be a long-term concern. And while digital triggers are fine for most games, analog triggers would’ve elevated the experience for racing and FPS fans. Final Thoughts At $84.99, it’s a premium controller with a premium price tag—but it earns it. If you play docked or just want a controller that feels like it was designed with care and intention, the Switch 2 Pro is worth the investment. It’s not flashy. It’s not gimmicky. It just works—and works well.

Great addition to owning a Switch 2. It has extra mappable buttons on the grip to give it an edge over the previous Switch Pro controller. Very comfortable controller to use and battery life is great. Like most controllers for Nintendo, it's overpriced. If they original Switch Pro controller would wake the Switch 2, I would not have purchased the Switch 2 Pro controller.

This controller was an immediate culture-shock of a sensation. Having used the switch 1 pro controller for many years, the reaction I had with this controller was strange. At first, the controller felt weird, even somewhat wrong. But, as I continued to use it, it made me realize what made this controller different. There are 3 things I'd like to touch on that specifically drew my attention: 1. The Joysticks. This is the first thing you will notice when you use the controller. Instead of the loud, almost mechanical feel of the previous generation, this controller has extremely smooth, quiet joysticks, that feel buttery smooth and genuinely amazing to use. Every time I go back to the switch 1 controller, the loud clunks of the sticks make the classic feel wrong. 2. The Structure. The first pro controller was made of a nice plastic with a near-rubbery grip that made it fun to hold, however, the new pro controller is made of this higher quality plastic that feels extremely nice to hold. The buttons on the rear are placed nicely, the overall profile fit nicely in my hands, and the controller feels like a step-up in standard from the previous generation. The upgraded rumble is also notably better. 3. The Buttons. The buttons on this controller are notably bigger, and better spaced out, and it feels easier to access than the previous controller. The D-Pad is much nicer this go-around, something about it makes it feel more responsive and less loose. The triggers are buttery smooth and the shoulder buttons have a nice thock to them. Overall, the buttons earn a solid score for me, nice to press, fun to use, and higher quality. Key takeaways (TL;DR) The controller is higher quality, the buttons and joysticks are smooth as butter, and the controller feels like it deserves the price point (and stands above competition rather easily.)

The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller is a worthy successor to the original—comfortable, well-built, and packed with thoughtful improvements. The grips are slightly refined and fit my hands perfectly for long sessions, whether I’m playing Zelda or Smash Bros. The matte finish feels premium, though it does show smudges pretty easily. Performance-wise, the buttons and triggers feel responsive and satisfyingly clicky. The new programmable rear buttons (GL/GR) are a nice touch, and I’ve already assigned them for quick access in racing games. One of the best new features is the 3.5mm headphone jack—finally! Combined with a dedicated “C” GameChat button, it makes online play a lot more convenient. Battery life is fantastic. I’ve played multiple evenings without charging and still had plenty of juice left. The controller charges via USB-C, and it seems to top up pretty quickly. Only downside: Nintendo still hasn’t switched to Hall Effect sticks, so stick drift could be a future concern (though no issues so far). Also, no customizable profiles or mechanical triggers like some premium third-party pads. If you’re a Switch 2 owner who plays docked or in tabletop mode often, this controller is a must-have. It’s not cheap, but it delivers in quality and comfort. Highly recommended for anyone looking to level up their Switch gaming experience.

Very solid controller, feels lighter than the Switch 1 Pro Controller. The extra assignable buttons on the back are so nice, and are integrated into the Switch's system so it's easy to reassign them as needed for different games. Very smooth feel, and it just looks nice.

If I could marry this controller, I would. I don’t care what the law says. Before the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller came into my life, I was just a man. A fragile, Joy-Con-wielding man with carpal tunnel and broken dreams. But now? Now I’m a gamer. A warrior. A thumb-athlete. First of all, this thing feels like it was sculpted by angels who interned at NASA. The grip is so comfortable I held it during a Zoom meeting just to feel something again. My boss asked why I was smiling—I told her I found purpose. She didn’t understand. She’s on Xbox. The battery life? Eternal. I charged it once, then blacked out, woke up in a pile of Doritos, and it was still at 4 bars. I think it might be absorbing the sadness in my apartment and converting it into power. Renewable energy, baby. The buttons are crisp, the triggers are smooth, and the HD rumble made me feel my soul shake during Smash Bros. One time I accidentally threw it across the room in excitement—it did a double flip, landed perfectly on the couch, and vibrated gently like it forgave me. My only complaint is that it’s not legally classified as a life partner. In conclusion, if you don’t own the Switch 2 Pro Controller, are you even playing? Or are you just struggling with your life choices and subpar thumb ergonomics? Buy it. Love it. Name it. I named mine Button McThundergrip. 11/10, would rage quit with again.
