Lightweight, but strange shape and scroll issues
This is a bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand, it's very light, which I don't fully favor, but I understand is the preferred style for competitive gamers. I was attracted to the mouse primarily for the high polling rate and the fact that it is wired. After years of dealing with frequent battery changes, I wanted to go back to wired. The body, while entirely plastic, is sturdy and well-built. I could get it to creak slightly, but only with a lot of clamping force on the sides. As such, I would not worry about a lack of structural integrity from the open lattice design. As for durability and cleanliness, I like that there are few rubber bits and that the lattice is on the bottom, so the body remains easy to wipe down and doesn't accumulate any more grime than any ordinary mouse. On these points, the mouse is fine. On the other hand, I struggled a little with the mouse shape, which encourages a claw grip - at least with my medium hands. The shape sort of resembles a Microsoft IntelliMouse, but with the hump more forward and a similarly long taper. This made the larger body sort of moot, as the height was too low in the back to support the palm. This shape also made it difficult to find leverage with the scroll wheel as my hand was placed too far back. This was exacerbated by the design of the wheel, which was dotted rather than ridged, creating less friction. As such, I found the scroll performance lacking, with lots of strange jumps and a reluctance to move. Further, the secondary buttons on the side were placed oddly low, making it difficult to comfortably rest my thumb below. Instead, my instinct was to place it above the buttons and on the bottom corner of the left mouse button, which is not ideal. As for final nitpicks, I want to say that there being two NZXT logos seem excessive, the cord retains package kinks, and the primary optical switch was a bit mushy. Lastly, there is no light to indicate dpi settings. Overall, I would not recommend the mouse, but can understand why someone might be attracted to the relatively unique combination of light weight and high polling rate for such a low price when on sale.
