Q: Are these mandatory for use of the oculus rift and if so how many are suggested.
A: When you buy Oculus Rift with Touch you get 2 Sensors. So not mandatory, Just recommended if you are playing games that have 360 Experience. For Front Facing Games or Games where you are sitting in a chair there will not be any benefit. But I was say Since Mid July most of the Big Games released will take advantage of 360 Viewing which would require 3 Sensor for correct experience.
Q: Is this even sold at best buy anymore?
A: When I went bestbuy 10days ago they said that they carry a few at the store but you can ask them to order it for you and have it shipped to your house. My arrived today.
Q: Does this come with an extension cable? How long?
A: Yes it does, Its 15FT. If it doesnt come with it contact Bestbuy as the way Oculus packages the extension cable confuses the stockers and they separate the cable and sensor.
