A: I’m a physician. The best calibrator will be Mercury sphygmomanometer which is using the auscultatory method . Because of environmental concerns they are no longer being used neither in the hospital or office The digital bp monitor can miss the auscultatory gap and can give false higher reading. Also not reliable if a patient has atrial fibrillation. I own the omron model BP786 and I have calibrated it with my office Mercury BP baumanometer. It’s. So accurate Therefore to calibrate use the auscultatory method. and not the digital BP monitor. I plan to buy the newer series 10 model Bp7450 because of it internet capability with the APP.
