  • Key Specs
    • Product Weight: 6.2 pounds (The out of box weight of the item.)
    • Light Source: Lamp
    • Resolution: Full HD (1080p) (Refers to the number of pixels, both horizontally and vertically, used to capture video/images. The higher the resolution the finer the detail that can be seen.)
    • White Brightness (ISO): 3600 lumens (Measurement of the device's white light output measured in accordance with standards established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The more lumens, the brighter the output. In large and/or well-lit environments, such as auditoriums or rooms with plenty of natural light, a higher brightness improves the quality of the projected image.)
    • Contrast Ratio: 50,000:1 (Measured difference between a displayed image's brightest whites and darkest blacks. The larger the first number, the more detail and color that can be displayed.)
    • Projector Use: Home Theater, Gaming
    • Projector Throw Type: Standard Throw (The distance from the screen that the projector can be placed to project images. Standard throw projectors typically need to be at least 6 feet away while short throw and ultra short throw projectors can be placed closer to the screen for use in smaller rooms.)
    • Portability: Fixed (Fixed projectors are ideal when creating an authentic theater atmosphere in your home. Often designed to stay in one place they may require significant recalibration if moved. Portable projectors, weighing around 5 pounds, are easy to move, but will still require set-up calibration and often have technology to reduce the complexity. Ultra-portable projectors are very light, often battery-powered, and ideal for on-the-go use.)
    • Wireless Connectivity: None (The manner in which a device sends data to another device over a short distance without the use of wires or cables.)
    • Display Connector(s): 1 x HDMI 2.0, 1 x HDMI 1.4 (The number and type of connectors used to connect to an external display.)

    • Resolution (Native): 1920 x 1080 (Native resolution of a screen refers to its single, fixed resolution. Sometimes screens must scale an image up or down in order to fit the native resolution. This can cause a loss of resolution or detail.)

  • Exposure Control
    • Focus Adjustment: Manual (The method used to focus the device in order to view or display a sharper image.)
    • Minimum Aperture: f/2.1 (The smallest opening of a lens, typically expressed in f-numbers. The larger the number, the smaller the aperture and the less light that can enter the lens. A smaller aperture creates a larger depth of field, which keeps both foreground and background in focus.)
    • Maximum Aperture: f/2.31 (The limit to how wide a lens can be open, typically expressed in f-numbers. The smaller the number, the larger the aperture and the more light that can enter the lens. A larger aperture creates a shallower depth of field, helpful for keeping subjects in focus and blurring background details.)
    • Optical Zoom: 2x (The optical zoom uses a combination of lenses that magnify the image prior to it being registered at high resolution by the imaging sensor.)

Q: Does this actually display HDR or can it just accept it? (Similar to how it accepts 4k but only displays 1080p)

A: Optoma's 1080p HDR projectors accept a 4K UHD HDR or 1080p HDR signal, and decode the HDR metadata and display the image with “HDR10”. Optoma fully supports HDR.

Q: Can this projector be used outside?

A: I bought this projector specifically for outside purposes. We put on a drive-in at the library for the community. We have played in rain and shine (dusk around 8:30ish) and you can still see the picture perfectly. It doesn’t lose its clarity. Of course, at sunset or even after the sun goes down, the picture is awesome. I love the zoom and focus feature it has. I’m very satisfied and more than glad I went with this projector.

Q: Can it connect via Bluetooth to a soundbar?

A: This projector has no bluetooth. Uses hdmi for signal and sound . I use a receiver problem solved. Will say the picture is great not sure what more you could ask for.

Q: The Audio out says 'Stereo' in the image? Is the audio clarity good enough for a 5+1 surround sound system?

A: Dear ProjectorBuyer, You will not be able to get surround sound from the system itself, you will get 2 channel stereo. We may suggest looking into connecting your source device directly to your sound system. If you have any further questions, please contact Optoma technical support at 888-289-6786 Monday - Friday 6 AM - 5 PM PST for further assistance.

Q: Is this a good projector for golf simulation

A: Thank you for your question. Yes, the HD28HDR is suitable for golf simulation. We hope you enjoy it! If you have further questions, please contact Optoma Technology directly. Thank you.

Q: Can this projector scale to a 4:3 aspect ratio?

A: Thank you for your interest in the HD28HDR projector. This projector is compatible with the following aspect ratios; 16:9 and 4:3. If you have any further questions, please contact Optoma technical support at 888-289-6786 Monday - Friday 6 AM - 5 PM PST for further assistance.
