About this product

The first piece by Manzoni that that I have listened to was Quadruplum, for four trumpets and four trombones followed, again on vinyl, by the memorable Masse. Only much later I had the opportunity to conduct some of his orchestral works, always with voice, such as Kokin b and Allen. For it's ninetieth birthday, the choice fell on two works by Anglo-Saxon authors Dieci versi di Emily Dickinson and Parole da Beckett. The first work can be defined as a metaphor about the silence of the speech, on the vertigo of a poetic and inner world that the composer renders in extremely visionary terms. The musical horizon traced by the strings and the two harps is indeed at the same time dissociated and convergent a string quartet and it's double, a small string orchestra (ten like the verses of the poetess), are separated on the scene by a veiled diaphragm which also ideally delimits the mental and perceptive space of the composition... The Parole da Beckett score, composed by Manzoni in 1971, contains very detailed performance instructions for both the choruses and the instrumental groups; nevertheless, this study demonstrates how the aleatory sections and the presence of hidden, completely inaudible texts (shown only in the separate parts for the two choruses) leave considerable room for choice and alternative readings on the part of the performer. In fact, the apparently paradoxical tendency of the European avantgarde at the time, was on one hand to strive for an ideological liberation from the constraints of music notation, leaving the outcome of the work itself in the hands of the performer (co-author), while at the same time to provide the score with a series of such detailed instructions that it virtually became a system of ineluctable gestures and actions (thereby reducing the work simply to a series of it's own performance directions). Album Tracks 1. 1. 10 Versi D

Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto - Cinema Rarities for Violin & String Orchestra - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The idea for this album came about during the recording of it's predecessor Cinema Suites (BBC Music Magazine's InchScreen ChoiceInch, Album of the Week on WDR3 etc.), when the Morricone family sent Marco Serino a number of rarities that they hoped could also be recorded, particularly InchDedicated to MariaInch (from the film The Sleeping Wife) that the composer had dedicated to his wife. These works, along with others that Serino rediscovered in his own archives, make up the backbone of Cinema Rarities, an ideal sequel to the previous recording. After twenty years as Ennio Morricone's chosen violinist, Serino continues his exploration of the compositions for violin and orchestra, but this time with a particular focus on pieces that, besides being less well known to the wider public, all share a degree of InchItaliannessInch. The main nucleus of the program consists of three suites named after three Italian film directors (Silvano Agosti, Mauro Bolognini and the Taviani brothers), with whom Morricone worked closely. Although the respective films did not achieve the international acclaim of those directed by Sergio Leone or Giuseppe Tornatore, which featured in the previous recording, they inspired the composer to come up with new and distinctive solutions, such as InchLove RememberedInch from The Inheritance, considered by Marco Serino to be one of the most beautiful. Equally quintessentially Italian are the two extracts from the scores for The Lady Caliph directed by Alberto Bevilacqua, including the lovely InchNocturneInch and the brief InchQuasi un VivaldiInch (from Sergio Sollima's film Revolver), which herald by almost a decade remakes like Gian Piero Reverberi's Rondò Veneziano. A unique place is occupied by Four Adagios, a collection of four pieces chosen by the composer himself (including the iconic InchWhoeverInch and InchDeborah's ThemeInch), which in this a

Orchestra Di Padova E Del Veneto Angius Vidolin - Tempestate - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Nicola Sani does not sterilize art music in a smug, celibate stylistic game with the risk of marginalizing it, in the context of global reception, as an expression of a wealthy minority of the western white bourgeoisie. He outlines a possible contemporary humanism, in which the creative relationship with technology proves to be necessary and fertile, not submissive or idolatrous. It invites you to remember that, in the history of music, the highest moments came when the creators climbed the crest of the wave of the contemporary thought, confronting it, whether it expressed utopias or crisis, despair or hope. Finally, the compositions collected in this CD invite you to rethink and remodel the listening spaces. This music crosses over, goes beyond mere confines. Composers, performers and institutions cannot escape this challenge again, as if it were not their problem. It is, and Tempus fugit. Album Tracks 1. Seascapes IX, Münster Per Orchestra 2.
